My grandparents lived in Mobile until they passed away in 2006. They always came to our house in Memphis when there were hurricanes. Watching this makes me miss them. :(
I went outdoors in this storm when the eye passed over us. Weird, weird, weird. Except for those eerily quiet moments, it was the scariest night of my life.
I was 19 and worked at Mobile Infirmary in the pharmacy . I then went on to become a Registered Nurse and worked at the infirmary for 30 + yrs and loved it but I was at work for well over 24-36 hours the 12-13 Sept.1979 . I had a young child , he stayed with my parents . I had to work because some folks couldn’t . I didn’t mind working ..
Remembering this storm ( we were in Crestview) while thinking of Harvey victims. Still remember the sound of it coming...Watching from NY. With extreme sympathy.
Some things never change with time...know all the essentials you must have for survival in natural disasters and folks all need to come together to help one another.
At the time of this I worked for Waffle House here in Atlanta Everyone came down got there at daylight we were able to get all waffle house's back up but one. Only was open during the day / I saw 10lb bag of ice for $10.00 / Waffle House send truck loads of food and gave away/ stayed in van 3 nites before finding motel room with no power are phone would hear news on van radio thanks WKRG/ This is the frist time i've found anything on Hurricane Frederic
There’s a really good looking guy in this video at time stamp 20:08 seconds . He looks like someone I went to school with but I can’t be sure . He’s talking about being in a walk in cooler when the roof comes off . If anyone knows who this is , his name , please inform me . I just want to see if he was in my class from Murphy or if he was in my brothers class at Davidson High .
It was quite a storm, I remember it vividly. I actually found Ben Burger's Dalmation in a storm drain as the tide was coming in, he never did say thanks jajajaja
Thank you WKRG for putting this up ! Give us more oldies !

Not you and me.
I wonder if they ever found the 24 yr old woman who was with that Dr who should have known better then to try and ride out a hurricane in a boat?
I can’t find any information about her other than that she was never found
wonder where the doctor's wife was.
Always the same people complaining about the free stuff they’re getting.
