Hi Avia! I did cheer all four years of highschool! I absolutely loved it, and I wanted to do it in college too but I decided just like you, I wanted a break from it. I have so much more time for myself and being with friends/family. I also felt a lot of stress relieved off of my shoulders just by simply being able to sleep in or having the time to do whatever I wanted. cheer is so fun but it’s such a big commitment, and life is too short to not do the things you want to do with the people you want to do them with. especially loved ones!! im so happy you are making such a big decision like this! you’re going to have such a memorable and fun senior year girl!!

I work with high school students and they ALWAYS feel guilty for ending a sport or an activity that they've done forever, but it's completely okay!!! It truly is a commitment, especially when you're on a traveling team or a a higher ranked team, and your weekends and summers are completely booked. I'm glad you'll have the time to explore more things you enjoy and you definitely want to enjoy your senior year with as much "hanging out with friends" and family time as possible, before you start thinking about your post high school plans. Live in the moment and just enjoy!
avia i cheered for 10 years, and my junior year of highschool i started acting in school and signing up for classes too and i fell in love with it and found its what im best at! i think its awesome youre listening to your heart with no hesitation! watching you grow up has been so much fun, thanks for everything you do:)

Hi Avia! I can speak from experience that regardless if you choose to leave cheer or not, there is no wrong decision. Soccer took all my time and I decided to leave it around my sophomore year. Fast forward to 7 years later, I enjoyed the extra time i had, but I do slightly regret not going through with it for the rest of my hs years. But, if i didnt leave, i probably wouldnt have been able to attend several events or have as much time to just enjoy being a teenager with my friends. SO, with that being said, the choice you make has no right or wrong. You can only truly see what was “right” when time passes. All the best girl! 😊
Great decision, you've always been a smart cookie! You learned all you had to learn from cheer and can now invest your time in more rewarding hobbies that you actually have career aspirations in. I cheered throughout middle and high school and it was a great learning experience, but also in retrospect so much extra stress and time that it wasn't quite proportional to the value I was getting out of it, since I had already learned lifelong habits by Junior year like teamwork, dedication, preparation, exercise habits, and time management. I think you made a good call.

I did cheer my whole life I started when I was 4 and took a break. Then jr year of high school I decided to take a break. And honestly it was the best decision. I missed out on a lot of things over the years. And taking that break I was able to go out with friends and see my family more. I think you made a good decision

It was the right decision I think (I mean every decision you make is the right one for you obviously but also objectively). You have 8 years of cheer to look back on an now you have the time to do so many new things. So you probably won't have regrets later because of spending your time cheering all the time and not being able to try out different things.
