Its funny that Dana hated “big mouth” at first, and now loves him. He has toned it down a little in the octagon, but kept that energy outside, to his credit.
Its not like he has been held down and ground and pounded by average wrestlers. Khamzat is an animal, and Brunson is a handful as well.

Yeah Kevin is a template for how you get fans. You just gotta be self deprecating. The fake narcissistic answers from other fighters gets so old. Kevin is a seriously dangerous fighter and he can end someone's career with his strikes, he has crazy striking gifts. So it's awesome to see him act humble.

Thompson is a very cool dude. I have talked to him personally many times at Upstate Karate. I hope he wins but lately nothing is going Wonderboy’s way. I like Kevin too. I love the UFC.

Lost a little respect for Wonderboy when he said he only wants to be matched up against strikers. As much as I dislike McGregor he was willing to fight grapplers like Khabib and Mendes.

Nah man. The UFC doesn't really need anybody. There's no single guy they rely on. And I like Kevin but he's not even a massive draw or anything. Sure he's got a little personality, but a lot of guys do. We've seen the UFC let comparable guys go. Like Mike Perry for example. And Perry was probably a bigger draw

That’s a great point but the UFC relied on Conor for years since they built him up since his initial fight.
The UFC received their return on investment. I am certain the promotion wants him to stick around for a few more mega fights since he is a fan favorite and captures the public’s attention.
There is money to be made and Conor generates revenue. The UFC knows that and rely on him to cash in every time.
@@gabrielruiz9540 Yes, they absolutely want Conor to stock around. He's still the biggest draw in the sport by a long shot. Although I wouldn't say they necessarily rely on him as a company. The company is still strong and successful regardless. They just understand smart business and know how to leverage their assets. For example, them not wanting to book Conor fights during the height of the pandemic shutdown. They didn't want to leave millions on the table and have him fight at the Apex and miss out on a record gate. Among many other reasons. Even small things add up with massive numbers like McGregor fights generate.
Regarding their return on investment with Conor. There really wasn't one. Conor came from Cage Warriors with a lot of steam and drew numbers from day one. They never went in the hole on him. There's no return on investment if you never go in the hole on something to build it. The money Conor has been paid throughout his career has always been a piece of the pie, which he generated by putting butts in seats and eyes on screens. That's the UFC model with all fighters. The more you bring, the more you make. Of course he was marketed as well. Obviously a part of the already in place UFC marketing machine with things like press conferences, Embedded, and pre fight packages. But they did some extras for Conor, like the Aldo world tour. But those things were demand based. The people just naturally gravitated towards Conor. I'm essentially saying that the UFC didn't create Conor by investing in him. It's like finding a diamond and building a fancy display case for it. The UFC helped build the display case, but the diamond is still the diamond. If that makes sense?
Sorry for getting in the weeds a bit. I'm essentially saying that the UFC was never upside down on Conor. Not in his first year with the promotion, and not ever. There's no investment to recoup on Conor or any fighter on the roster. Look at the UFC like a museum or a zoo. They have exhibits/animals that some people like more than others. All based on personal preferences. Sometimes they lose exhibits, and get new ones. Some better, some worse. Ultimately they still remain open and people continue to go. Or think of the NFL. Teams lose players and rosters change, but people still support their team. Name any fighter on the UFC roster. Actually, think of any 5 ir even 10. They could all be gone today and the UFC would continue and be successful.

So glad this Dude is not retiring. He is just a must watch person. Very likeable person with tons of skills and upside. I think he should take up Kamzat on the help in grappling training. If Kevin was a A+ Grappler.. nothing could stop him.

Kevin actually looked really good against Khamzat. Khamzat really struggled hard, and Holland's balance was extraordinary. I don't think people understand how narrow that victory was, because as many people have mentioned, if Holland would have survived 2 more minutes, Khamzat might have slowed down dramatically. Nobody can fight at that pace for more than a few minutes without slowing down. Holland might have won in a long war of attrition.
