I don't know of anyone who could have handled this interview with as much empathy and sensitivity as David did. Thank you for taking your guests to a place of vulnerability where no one else can.
The first half of this interview was sad. She came across as someone in pain. I do relate to her story and it also reminds me of Iyanla Vanzant's book: Yesterday I cried. Very intelligent, mindful, self-aware lady. I wish her success in all areas of her life❤
Childhood traumas are something else, man. I pray Brenda to cope with hers. By coming to this show she continues her therapy. Kuzolunga. May everyone reading this and has their own childhood skeletons to find healing❤
Chopping onions. Such a strong woman. So inspired, this shows there's always someone who went through the worst than you and them still standing and even flying high is very motivating
A person worthy of writing a book to help others. Yooo😢this interview took me to many places. God will keep on blessing you. When you said you asked your grandmother to go stay with you in Johannesburg" , i had an opportunity to take my grandmother and she stayed with us for 13 yrs. Gogo was a gift for you ❤
“I’m not gonna live my life in pain forever”! I love you Brenda, may all that you wish for become a reality. Your story inspires and reminds us we are all humans.
Askies baby girl. Hitting rock bottom is the best place for a bounce back. When there is no lower to go any pressure forces a ball up. Bounce my girl we are rooting for you❤
Brenda gives me goosebumps, her singing, her voice is just healing. I hope her story inspire a young individual who wants to give up. We all have a purpose in life!
I am forever watching Obuti David's interviews but this is the saddest interview I have ever watched 💔💔💔 I have never seen a person in so much pain at the same time so strong ❤❤❤#superwoman
Oh sis Brenda! What a powerful story you've shared! I'm in absolute awe of your journey. I can't wrap my head around the fact that your incredible voice - the very same one I cannot get over - was once a source of insecurity for you. The way you sound is what drew me in to you. It's incredible how something that once brought you doubt can be an amazing symphony to many. I'm sorry for all the pain and struggles you had to endure growing up. My heart goes to you. Uxolo. May you continue finding comfort and healing. Ngxesi sisi. I always knew there was something extraordinary about you beyond your music but hearing your story has put everything into perspective. Your resilience, your strength and your authenticity have taken my admiration to a whole new level. From your days with Joyous Celebration to your solo work, I've been hooked. Now, it's not just your voice that has me devoted, your STORY has sealed my devotion. Thank you for sharing your gift, struggles and triumphs with us. You're an inspiration, sis Brenda! And Bra Dave, amazing work! This is an interview we never knew we needed to have, a story we never knew we needed to hear. You handled it with such sensitivity and care. Big ups to you.

True indeed Brenda, Mr Mthembu really had such a huge impact in our lives. I used to enjoy assembly because of the learning we received. Proper foundation was built on us to become the people we are. I always brag about Mr Mthembu and Maseko. It's unbelievable to hear Brenda went through so much heartache while she healed and blessed us with her voice at assembly. Big hugs to you Sis, God is your strength 💕

One of the best interviews from Bra Dave, your interviewing skills are top tier. It was like a beautiful conversation between friends catching up. Not once did you interject. She was comfortable to open up and lay her soul. You are a gentle giant bra D. A lot of people can learn from you. ❤Nawe sis Brenda. Hwat a beautiful heart breaking story. I was introduced to you when she made song with the late Thami Thabethe. Since then youve always had my heart. ❤
I loooved Brenda's perspective on the culture of dancing in South Africa. This is not new it just got the world's attention only now. From our traditional dances, pantsula, ivy, gumboots and many other dances that we were able to keep ourselves happy with while maneuvering through our struggles of life. We should never be ashamed today when we find ourselves to be identified as a dancing/happy nation. We've in the past carried coffins of our assassinated heroes on our shoulders to the graveyard while singing the struggle songs and dancing. We were not dancing but the spirit was carrying us. We've created songs to situations within a matter of seconds. I don't think we just dance but this is spiritual and there's something that happens within that controls our rhythm. I believe it's the vibe that Brenda mentioned and we don't have to be ashamed of it. It runs through our blood.
I love sis brenda from Joyous, i was Brenda Mtambo at home, and my friend was Mahalia etc and i used to sing this sing that song "more" if you see her you could tell the talent through her voice. And when she left to be brenda Mtambo on her own i still followed her and it happen than Thamidish is a friend with my friend, so again universe brought us here
"Every dream that you have, do all of it, if fail in it, you're failing in it but do all of them" powerful reflective conversation, this is a God story. God is in every story. Good one David!
