It wasn't always. It was a very successful place. Very successful. Then as is the cycle since forever, liberal fools spent everyone else's money building a socialist paradise. The people funding the nonsense put up with it for a minute. I left over 20 years ago.
I live in Hertford, England lol. We have a statue of the guy that moved to America from England (Hertford) during the colonisation of the new world and settled in what is now Hartford, Connecticut.
As a Stratford resident, I have visited Hartford a good amount of times. I live about halfway between it and New York. It is about halfway between New York and Boston. I hope to go to the XL Center one day to either see the Bridgeport Islanders play in enemy territory, or maybe a UConn basketball game! RIP Whalers.
What makes Hartford a great place? Interstates taking traffic in every direction from Hartford, Bradley International Airport available to those who live in West Hartford and Glastonbury, The Greyhound Station for Hartford residents living on 1/3 the income or less of those flying out of Bradley, so everyone could get the hell out of the area. A half century ago, the city’s population was almost 40K more than currently, so there you go.
I’m from England, I was just about to book a hotel to go and see a 90s convention in Hartford until I saw the comments on this video. Is it not worth me coming over for the convention?
If its at the convention center downtown you will be fine lots of Restraunts not a bad area The crime is North End and South End of Hartford. Inner city your good. Its a small city. If its at the Convention center east side will be near the Connecticut river alot of money was put there to bring Hartford back. Right down the street of the famous Colt Firearms building that is a historic building...
The House that Mark Twain lived in ,very historic house is only a few miles away from the covention center. If you have time.. or check out Mystic Seaport cool place.or the casinos Foxwoods n Mohegan Sun..
Awesome thanks, I have just looked up those places online, will definitely find time to visit those. Would you be adverse to meeting a beer when I fly over? Some local company would be good. Looked up a pub called ‘Pigs Eye’ have you heard of it? Paul
This person is clearly not from Hartford nor has ever spent meaningful time here. There’s loads more they could have spoken about but I’m glad the people I see commenting are discouraged.
At best, Hartford can be a lil rough around the edges. So is every other city with over 100k people usually. Hartford barely even get over 30 homicides a year. Overall, It's safer than you may think. Come to Jackson Mississippi and we'll show you dangerous. It's roughly about the same size as Hartford and so far this year, there's already 105 homicides.
@Henry The Pretzel you must didn't read what I said? I'm from a place that's far more dangerous than Hartford. 109 homicides this year in Jackson verses Harford's what?? 25?? So yeah, going to park street doesn't scare me🤷♂️. I'm assuming you're most likely a White guy due to using words like "minorities" that probably never ever passes through. Just going off of what you see on the news
@@SmooviO Those are Rookie numbers I am from El Paso TX, the city is one of the safest in the US, but our border city neighboor CD Juarez MX has between 80-90 homicides a week. I recently visited Hartford CT and to me the city feels like it is forgotten and has a lot of poverty.
Hartford CT is a terrible place. Anyone saying otherwise is a liar or extremely deluded.

lol so true
I'm sure all the races commit crime at an equal rate.....riiiiight?
Isn't that the damn truth.....Park St resident
Bro don’t say that Hartford is the second closest city to me after Springfield,ma.

I heard he moved back, Hartford is a shithole.
Hartford was founded by Thomas Hooker and a group of Puritans from Massachusetts. Before that the Dutch were there for a while.
MY BIRTH PLACE GOOD OLD HARTFORD I DO MISS IT.

I knew more like New London part of Connecticut but this is cool too
It actually used to be one of the richest cities in the USA. It now has a lot of poverty because the companies are all moving away, mostly down south.
Thanks for the update
The State Capitol is one of the loveliest in the whole country! (I lived there in the 70's....and it was very safe back then.) 😊
I have a 9th great grandfather named John Bidwell and a 10th great grandfather named John Wilcox that were founding fathers of Hartford Conn.
Great vid ty
Thanks!

So much history most people say Hartford is no good but this gives me a different perspective
During tours of the CT state capital, have tourists ever accidentally met the governor?
I did meet Ella Grasso in the 70s while touring the capitol building A very nice Governor.
Travelers Tower The tallest building in New England for many years

Grew up in Hartford when it was nice. Now it’s the armpit of Connecticut.
Joseph knows what’s up.
Actually, Bridgeport and Waterbury are way worse.
That’s what everyone says but then u go to Fairfield and it’s just frat boys bouche snotty people and overpriced restaurants and rent.
Nope..bridgeport is and Always will be the armpit of CT,,,Hartford is not bad at all...i grew up there

Thank you for my country
There are gangs in CT that thrive due to the lax law enforcement. So many children's lives are ruined in this city...its horrible and very sad.
Next to Marck twain house
Wow the most depressing top 10 ever 2 parks, 2 government buildings, and 2 historical homes included. Dam
