OMG! I am over the moon for this episode and program, I love the simplicity of old school training and its results. You guys really know how to separate yourself from the pack. Congratulation Mind Pump!
Winner Winner! Please email Ann ann@mindpumpmedia.com with a screenshot of your youtube username, winning episode number, and the email address you would like the program under and we will get you hooked up!
I’ve been only back to gym for 5 months now from 3 years off weights (CrossFit). I am so thrilled to see this type of program come out. I stopped CrossFit because felt it wasn’t best exercise for a 57 yr old male. I love doing techniques that simulated or helped my martial arts training (BJJ, Karate). I worked a physical trade throughout my 20’s to 40’s and developed my “old man” strength. Looking forward to this style of training.
Finally!! I’ve been waiting for you guy to create this program ever since you hinted at it long ago. This was another great episode and I hope to win the new program!🤞
I started weight training with the dinosaur training book, 20 years later it still influences my workouts... 5x5, using thicker grips for the barbell, lifting a half way full keg, the exercises.... that book was great. It's awesome you guys did an old school program. can't wait to be able to get it.
Finally, an episode and a program that I personally have been following , training philosophy wise. Old school strength feats have always been something that is lost in today’s world. However, it is something worth pursuing. I believe that the fact that you guys are actually creating this program means that these training philosophies are making a comeback to the fitness industry! 🎉🎉🎉
My family started working at a very young age and they have ridiculous strength. I think everything back in the day was cleaner, stronger, healthier. Excited to see y’all releasing this, hopefully I’ll get to also PR on my lifts afterwards. Stay blessed guys.
This type of program is right up my alley. I current compete in strongman and love the history of strength. Great work putting out a program to pay homage to the true strength athletes.
I love how you guys are paying homage to the people who paved the way for where you are today. This program looks really interesting. I'm going to have to ask my husband for an early anniversary gift. 😁😁
When you click within the first hour but need to get ready for bed… Adding to the watch later playlist and looking forward to watching this tomorrow. I love the intro❤
There is nothing better than unconventional lifts, and this MAPS program seems to be one of the funniest out there, the off set loaded exercises surely will make your core cry. Extremely Hyped por this one guys, Incredible job.
Hola!!this episodios is just Perfecto for me!! Last month i took the decision to stop chasing aesthetics, I’m 49 years old 17 %{143lbs) so this next years I’m going full on strength for my general health for my family!! Thanks guys
I love this. Working on a Construction site as an electrician, I feel like I have so many options I could through in throughout the day as my "trigger sessions". Plus this podcast keeps me motivated
Maps programs have changed my workouts for the last 7-8 years. I can't wait to learn from the past and add new exercises to me I never tried to my workouts.
I love your programs. They've helped me be consistent in my training, and at 40, I'm stronger than I've ever been. Recently, I was able to get my fairer half to start working out with me using your MAPS 15 Advanced program and MAPS Prime. The allure of at most 30 minutes per day was enough to get her to join me in the garage. She's 6 months in and has never felt better. I've used the MAPS 15-style to adjust our workouts as time went on. I'd love to see some of your other workouts in a 2-3 movement per day style, especially this Oldtime Strength program!
That Intro was sick! Thank you Mind Pump for having Zach and I involved in this incredible program! Everyone can benefit from the revisiting innovations of the past. Blending oldtime techniques with the present , creates a more rounded approach to health and strength. This program is 🔥🔥🔥
Really excited to get my hands on the program! The whole idea of the physiques, the strength, and athleticism of bronze era lifters has been something ive wanted to train for but couldnt find a decent program that hits those angles for the longest time. What better people to make this program than MindPump 🙌
I know you are all proud of this new program but I think Justin was the most excited about it! Also, I was at the end of my kettlebell workout when you touched on forgotten grip and forearm strength. I realized I hadn't done Turkish getups in a while so I tacked on a handful of reps after my workout....keep it up!
Absolutely thrilled by this episode and the way it showcases traditional training methods and their effectiveness! Mind Pump, you stand out from the crowd with your unique approach. Keep rocking, and well done!
Wowww I would love to see this program. I love Greek mythology and I had no idea there was any historical data on how the bronze era trained. This is so awesome. MP is the best out here!!
Thank You Guys for creating this episode. As a lover of history, literature, Martial Artist, and being a Physical Culturist myself, you were able to interspers these seemingly disparate but more connected facets so we'll👍 I'm humbled and greateful you guys are able to credit those who came before and bring to the fold what we can learn and must preserve so the next generation can appreciate and cherish these effective methods. Strength and Courage to you and all viewers of this Show🙏💪👍
I love that you guys are always challenging the complexity of todays modern fitness space influencers. So glad that you’ve opened this space up. Time for a rabbit dive down the Bronze Era timeframe. ✌🏻Appreciate my daily MindPump so much.
Ok guys, just when I thought you couldn't make another badass program. What was left? THIS! 👏🏼 I am beyond excited to get this one and finally try those classic lifts
What an episode! An entire program based on classic bronze era lifts. 👏 Very unique. I also hope for those who give this a go, can also dive into that particular culture and check out several of those classic names /individual books for further ancient wisdom.
So cool! I've been wanting something like this. Sal, you said something around 26:50 about the Industrial Revolution picking up steam...and didn't pause for your dad pun credit.
I loves this episode because it aligns so well with where I am in my current training which is total body 5 days a week. A lot of inspiration behind this came from when I learned Karate we would practice every day and some benefits from when I worked in construction because just like martial arts or bronze era lifters. One would do certain movements or practices daily. Anyways in Karate I had to harden my bones (in line with what Sal mentioned) I would hit the bottom of my punching bag to strengthen my fists, forearms, feet, and shins. Jumping forward, figures like the Mighty Atom were insanely strong and his documentary is inspiring but someone like that had to have been lifting/practicing feats of strength daily to get that dexterity down. What I would like to see researched more is testosterone levels pre and post training like this. This may sound strange or possibly out of topic but I had bad testosterone levels when I was young. It was about 100-150 when I was 23 and in the military. I eventually went on hormone therapy for about two years and got off it because of finances but years later I ended up working for two years in construction (cabinetry so installations). The job was physically demanding and I was basically lifting cabinets up and down stairs, putting them up on a wall by hand, moving them around the house. It was like a total body workout all day. Well I had my hormones checked again about a year into the job and my doctor said my levels were at 800 (at that time) for testosterone. I laughed so hard because my doctor said, “hey this is a safe space can you please tell me if you are taking steroids.” I said no and let them know I just eat really clean and have a physically demanding job. If possible, I would love to hear your ( @mindpump ) thoughts on this in one of your podcast episodes. Because it would make sense that the body would increase hormone levels if your entire body was worked throughout the day on at least a 5 day/week basis.
So excited to do this program almost done anabolic for the second time. Enjoy looking back at my numbers from the first time and now second. Going to be nice to watch how I can progress in these test over the years.
You guys never cease to amaze me on your creativity, ingenuity, and foresight! This program sounds amazing, fun and hopefully a trendsetter!! 👍🏽⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕
I always get excited when trying out your new programs every few months. I already own 8 of them and I never hit any plateaus. Want to start old time strength as well😊
My nana has one of those old-timey dumbbells, 100 lb, huge ball on either side, very wide/thick handle. Ive only ever been able to just (barely) pick it up with the grip it has... This episode makes me want to learn how to incorporate it into as many movements as i can! Thanks for what you guys do 💪
Wow! Sounds like a really interesting program. I remember when I lived in the country and we had a flood. It destroyed this beautiful wooden bridge. When they went to replace it I learnt that Engineers of our time didn't know how to rebuild the bridge like it was originally. Sometimes we loose knowledge and have to recreate the wheel.
Absolutely love that you are doing this! Now that I am going to be entering strongman, I've been focusing a lot on older techniques and also collecting vintage weights. Such a cool program!
Along your observation of the technique for fighting etc. changing over the years due to safety and equipment, that is why I love rugby so much. The only protection you have are your mouthguard, socks and muscle.
CONGRATS!! And Thank you for being fitness nerds and always looking ahead of the game … I will try to catch this program later since it will benefit my son who is 18 and wants to become a body builder however for now this same son has clean the savings with college expenses 😅… but I will pay the full price gladly because you guys have the best programs I have 75% of them already … THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BRINGING THE BEST TO THE TABLE you guys rock!!! Blessings and much love to all
So excited for this one! I believe this will be unique (Like Strong) and will bring tremendous result for us. Thanks Mind Pump for creating new program like this one.
Literally a week ago I couldn't stop thinking about Abbye Stockton and her being able carry her own husband overhead while he did a handstand, and many other amazing feats done by men and women during that time. I thought about how they trained during the bronze and silver eras and wondered how I could incorporate some of what they did to my training. This video and the new program couldn't come at a better time! So excited to try it out! (I'm still in the middle of doing MAPS Strong :D)
I wonder what other forms of exercise are out there that we have forgotten about, or never had the opportunity to learn about. Great discussion. Thank you guys for elucidating this topic
Oh my gosh you guys are relentless with the knowledge and help!

I’m loving the animation in the intro! You guys are getting better and better with these videos!!
I remember an episode like a year ago when a listener called in and suggested a program along these lines. This is actually pretty awesome
I’ve been only back to gym for 5 months now from 3 years off weights (CrossFit). I am so thrilled to see this type of program come out. Very excited for this program! I may have went with "MAPS Bronze" if I had input in the naming process 😅
I feel like I’ve been waiting for this all day! I love hearing about these strong guys back in the day!
Finally!! I’ve been waiting for you guy to create this program ever since you hinted at it long ago. This was another great episode and I hope to win the new program!🤞
I go away for 1 week, come back, binge watch 5 eps in 2 days and find out you've released a new program! Nice! 💪

True!
True!
So great! Love the old time concept!!
This looks awesome. Some of the less common exercises have been my favs from other MAPS programs. Can't wait to add more to my repertoire!
Can’t wait to get started on this program I’ve done two others and loved them will continue to support because the content and material is unmatched

I started watching your show a few months ago. I've always been into old school strongman stuff. Recently did my first stone lifting competition.
No school like old school
I'm so intrigued by this! It's super interesting when we look back at old knowledge how much we forget.
Ok guys, just when I thought you couldn't make another badass program. What was left? THIS! 👏🏼 I am beyond excited to get this one and finally try those classic lifts
