You think anyone going to watch "Friday the 13th Part 2" doesn't already know what it's about? Ebert acts like people will walk in thinking it's a Disney film.
its so cute to see these guys treat a Friday film like Ben Hur or Citizen Cane. The filmakers and audience members knew exactly what they were getting. In fact these reveiws only boosted sales.. like the PMRC profanity stickers on albums that started in the 80s.
perspective can be difficult to adjust for. Ebert was speaking in a time where this was just the second Friday the 13 movie. how many since then? Jason wasn't a thing, slasher movies weren't even necessarily a thing. the first one was a total flash in the pan. very very different times, man.
@@bijibadness Slasher movies weren't a thing? This was the height of the slasher film era. And everyone knew the first Friday the 13th was a slasher film before it even opened, based on the trailer. So to say anyone didn't know what the 2nd film would be like is even more ridiculous.
Ive noticed before mostly when the show ends, but whats with the background echo/delay on the audio? Was is some part of the recording/digitizing process?
Windwalker is a really good movie. My parents had seen it and loved it. So when I was a kid they borrowed it for me to watch, I was so resistant at first and didn’t want to. But I gave in, watched it and loved it. Then I got my sister to watch it and she had the exact same reaction, she went from resistance to loving it. What’s interesting is that it’s a movie only about North American Indians, but it starred some white actors as Indians. It was actually also the last film to do that. The film also co-starred James Remar fresh off playing Ajax from the cult classic The Warriors(1979). I saw a panel interview with him where he was asked what was his personal favourite of all the films he’s been in and he said it was this one. It’s a rare movie to find. I had to buy it from Australia. It hadn’t at the time gotten a proper DVD release.
I wonder if the late Tom McBride thought it was amusing that both Siskel and Ebert singled out his machete-to-the-skull sequence as proof of how abhorrent Friday the 13th Part 2 was.
The Friday the 13th series is cinematic comfort food and the exact opposite of “depressing” for me. It’s nostalgic, fun, playfully violent and (disagreeing with Ebert here) filled with interesting people. No, not joking. The series as a whole contains a plethora of good characters. Some off-beat, down to earth, campy and contagious. Different types of compelling human beings, in a long running collection of great slashers.
Friday the 13th is a teen horror film not expected to be a huge budget success or Hitchcock like thriller so I wasn't surprised to see 2 adults hate the movie.
WELCOME BACK ONE OF MY FAVORITE TH-cam CHANNELS THAT OLD T.V.
Good to be back. And... Thank you for returning! :)
I love Friday the 13th Part 2
It's the best in the series.
It sucks
Glad to see that you’re back! I’ve missed your channel the past few weeks!

Paramount obviously knew that S & E would hate this movie. But It probably got a bigger interest for some people after Eberts slashing.

And Gene says he thought maybe no deaths would have been a fresh take. Really??
The TV spots for the original and Part 2 are pretty effective, you must admit-even though the body count on both is wrong.
Their reviews of Friday the 13th are so antiquated now. That movie is downright tame compared to what we get now.
Ive noticed before mostly when the show ends, but whats with the background echo/delay on the audio? Was is some part of the recording/digitizing process?
I'm not sure. I don't hear it. Sounds normal to me. No echo to my ears.
They always hated slasher movies. It seemed like they just never got them.

I just saw "Quiet Cool"with James Remar and loved it after not seeing it in over almost 40 years.
Ebert talking about the Ali McGraw disease hit like a ton of bricks.
I liked burlap sack Jason much more than hockey mask Jason.
Just here to watch them bash Friday The 13th part 2.
I hated FT13 part 2 so much that I bought the disc and attended a convention where the surviving cast members were at so they could sign it.
Odd to see S&E doing 'yes or no' instead of their 'thumbs up/down' system.
what they both dont know is that the Film Lions of the Desert is funded by Muammar Gaddaffi
"Ignoring today that Libya is a brutal dictatorship" hahahaha
@@Madstsone I'm surprised they actually reviewed it.

This is one of my favorite episodes.
