    They are so beautiful!

    Beautiful Fish!, I have a few myself, and personally Ive noticed that white worms, black worms and even insects, like crickets (all fed around midnight) Ive notice it really trigger that wild instinct and activity. I also do the dry cycles as well, and have had many other pleco's spawn with that "trick". I think slight tannic water might not hurt either, but that is just a guess,

    Just picked up 5 3-3.25 from freshwater exotics. They will be shipping them about the 20th. I can’t wait.

      Kirk G That’s Sweet! Christine and Jamie are nice to deal with. I almost ordered two of them myself, but my LFS just got a shipment of adult wild caught L134’s this week and sells them for $70. I can hand select which I want and no shipping. I’m still very tempted to pick up some L260 and 264’s from Freshwater Exotics. Good luck with the Leopard Frogs. They are beautiful fish.

    And also if they are wild caught, you should add some rocks and algae in there have some more movement. They will span in a bit.

    Very gorgeous fish. I'm in a similar situation to you but with a group L199's which refuse to breed for me currently!! I was planning to move onto L46 after the L199's, but I'm getting more tempted to go with the 134's!!
    Good luck with yours, hope they spawn soon.

      ada205mi Thanks. Just re-scaped the tank tonight in hopes a more natural environment will help. I also have seven L333’s being moved into their own tank later this week. They’ll probably spawn before my froggies. L46 is on my bucket list but I’m not going to pay the insane prices.

    i have 4 adults which i never see , in a 240 planted discus show tank .
    now i have baby's everywhere , kind of nice
    water 50 ppm temp 27.5 C
    pool sand substrate .
    i feed beef heart for the discus and throw in one algea waver each day but i have no idea what they eat since i never see them !

      theklrdude oo Congratulations on the babies.... Can I ask what ph your water is please?

    • @theklrdudeoo9173
      @theklrdudeoo9173 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      sorry i don't measure it ever but i use R.O. water mixed with well water to 50 ppm. .
      it probably is way over 7
      i breed discus as well and found that it's not that important as long as it is stable .
      i will tell you that i do massive water changes 20 % per day .
      fish load is light , planting rather heavy and i dose fertilizer and iron every day , so i got pearling going on .
      sorry i cant tell you , i just tried and the PH. pen is dead .

    • @theklrdudeoo9173
      @theklrdudeoo9173 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i just bought a PH. pen at amazon , the PH. is 6.8
      hope this helps .
      there is now about 15 juveniles , about 1.5 inches long .
      they are good tank cleaners , i found out .

    I've researched the Temps of the river xingu, L46, can hit 100f! Some breeders swear 89f is the magic sweet spot! Goodluck!!

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it’s a very warm river system. I know a large breeder who swears by 86F and another that says 82F. I split the difference and keep them 83-84. 🤷‍♂️

    • @terrystratford1235
      @terrystratford1235 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TMAquatics can go low, 20c! But I don't have wild caught, so due to there being so many breeders giving different methods, I think I will just enjoy mine! If they breed, that's a bonus! I have the xingu on my weather app so I can try and make them comfortable! I keep them at 79/80f, but will increase to 86/90f for 4 mths to mimic summer!

    Hi Tom. I've been following along your journey with the L134's. My 4 LFP's are still juveniles. Your tank is very clean. I've been debating to keep mine with substrate or go bare bottom to keep up on the maintenance. What are your thoughts? I bought the black worm pellets from Cali. They love them. Have you bought from Euclids Fish before? That's where I bought mine. Anyways...i enjoy watching and learning from you. Have a good day

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wichita Falls Fishkeeper The BB Tank was much easier to keep clean. One of main reasons I switched to substrate was the fact my 134’s are wild caught. I felt that sand/gravel would feel more comfortable and natural to them than glass. I have seen a difference in their behavior and they are now more active. It hasn’t resulted in any spawning, which is the ultimate goal, but WC plecos are more difficult to breed than tank raised, generally speaking. L134’s are one of the more difficult according to many well seasoned pleco keepers. Some people get lucky, while others struggle. I know a shop owner in Detroit who breeds L46 zebras and L397’s (along with countless other L numbers) like it’s child’s play, but has yet to trigger his 134 colony to breed. Never heard of Euclids fish. I’ll check them out. 👍

    Thanks Tim, I appreciate the video and I've learned a good number of things that will help me with my L134s. I did have one question, however, and that was do you a link on how to make the "DIY Gel food". I'm unclear on exactly what makes the food blended together into a "gel". Thanks! < Fishez

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Homemade gel food you can simply use gelatin. I believe Repashy uses Agar powder, which is a vegetarian gelatin replacement. Lots of videos on YT showing diy gel food. Give it a try, your fish will love it 👍

    • @TMAquatics

      Definitely not true. Usually the captive bred will be easier to spawn.

    I'm curious genuinely. What are people's obsession with wild caught fish?

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are benefits to wild caught, but there are also benefits to tank raised. My favorite two plecos in my fishroom are my L46 Zebras (tank raised) and my L397’s which are also tank raised. WC fish are generally larger and also bring a healthier, more pure, gene pool to the group. WC can be more difficult to breed though, and also bring the risk or parasites. What’s great about this hobby is we can all take it in whatever direction we want, get the fish that interest us, and make the decisions we make, such as wild caught vs tank raised. 👍

    • @Dylamos
      @Dylamos 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TM Aquatics to be honest that makes perfect sense, I never thought about a larger gene pool even though ironically I’m learning about breeding dogs. But for my fish,, never thought about it

    • @kirkg6712
      @kirkg6712 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never thought too much about tank raised or wild caught. I'm just happy I finally found some.
