Paul is like my dad, and I'm Bob, and I'm taken back 50 years to my youth when Dad took me fishing. He was an angling God and I was useless, not being able to cast, snagging lines, losing fish and making too much noise, but the love was there. This brings back so much to me, the close bonding and mateship, the banter, the hunt for the perfect catch. Thanks for uploading this fabulous show. Edit. I'm now 62, and my son is the natural angler, so it looks like the fishing gene bypassed me altogether. My son takes me fishing, and when I stuff up, he gives ME the bollocking, and I'm 12 again.
I love this series, brings back lazy past summer afternoons, when i was much younger, and not a care in the world, the music is most fitting as well, you 2 are great, such warm, best friend chemistry, hope you both realise how much your loved.
That powdered potato was not Smash but Idahoan, available from ASDA. It is the best instant mash I have ever tasted. Eaten with sausages, peas and gravy.....oh! yes!
There is not a better pastime than fishing , weather it's serious stuff like Bob and Mr Whitehouse or catching craps off the harbour wall . It's the satisfaction of the catch 🎣
Watching this reminds me of fishing with my dad as a kid. He, the zen master coarse fisherman and me, the hopeless nuisance at his side, with the attention span of a gnat. Distracted every five minutes and drifting off into playfulness. Dad could catch a fish anywhere and I seldom could, even when we swapped spots. My brothers were clones of Dad, dutiful and concentrated. But he never left me at home.
The two of you reflect the art of getting so much more from fishing, other than just catching fish... I have two copies of a book I believe you both would appreciate, if interested, please leave me a reply. Tight Lines, Steve.
The boys hardly do anything for real, yet everything is funny, as well as great to look at. The music is clever - digging into real old nostalgia that precedes this generation. And I laughed all the time at Bob's goofs. "Trauancy..." Besides wishing I were there, if nothing else, I'll probably start saying "and away!" even when it's completely inappropriate.
In the wiki for this show (all series), a reviewer apparently highly praised the show, despite no "laugh out loud" moments. I'm not sure what sort of sense of humor the person had, but there certainly are many laugh out loud moments for me.
Can't believe they mentioned the lovely silver sheen of a Bream and didn't immediately break into "I've a Bream, silver Breamy sheen", don't think I'll ever forgive them... nope never

That's unconditional love, your Dad being proud to go with you even if you were a bit scrappy. I loved reading your comment.

I mean … the music , the camera shots . It’s a work of art in itself, topped off with the two pals who adore each other . Perfection ❤️

"we've certainly got to alert the authoritiea about some of your behaviour" Best line I heard in a long time

Paul make Bob put one arm behind his back when not to reel! Wow it winds me up when you hear the reel winding. 😡😂
