Everyone keeps saying the old is better but this is also camera lighting y’all. The now finish will always 100% be better looking in person. As someone with dry skin, I can attest to this.
I agree completely. I see girls at Sephora wearing TH-cam/IG style makeup and to me it looks very drag. I see all the skin texture, etc. And I'm not knocking them, do you, boo! But I just don't think it's as pretty IRL.
I had to comment because my face skin's life was recently changed by Cetaphil face & body lotion... Girl, have you tried this for your dry skin?!? I literally bought/discovered it yesterday and I'm a zealot.
The new looks way more and professional and high fashion the skin and brows are softer and more beautiful period. the old looks more Instagram glam. I looks pretty on insta not irl.
the skin looks really similar on camera, that's for sure, but what's better about the "then" is: 1. lashes are cut nicely and aren't making the eye droopy 2. brows are darker and therefore go with the really dark eye look (in general i like the style of the "now" brow better but for this kind of dramatic look it's just too light) 3. the high inner corner highlight makes her nasal bridge appear much wider than it actually is on the "now" version.
You know what would be fun? Doing makeup from different time periods. Like 80s 90s etc and do what we all used to do with makeup over the years. You could do it in a series.
I’ve never commented on a video before, other than answering someone’s question in the comments, never an original comment: I just wanted to say I love you and your videos. You give a realistic approach to makeup while not being scripted whatsoever. I feel like you have a good grip on everything and I always trust your opinion. Love your channel and hope for the best in 2019
Audri Murray wow!! Exactly!! I couldn’t agree with u anymore than I already do!!! Kristi is great!! Thanks for letting her know how U feel as well as unknowingly letting her know how WE feel as well!! Best wishes to U Audri!!! I hope that u have an AMAZING 2019!!! BTW... I LOVE ❤️ ur name!!!
I think I like things from both sides lol. I know I'm late to the party. the only thing I will say is that I can visibly see more texture on the new side of the face. the old side looks more smooth and flawless. I like the darker brow on the old side but the angle on the new side. shadow looks better on the new side. either way looks freaking beautiful though. I wish I looked this good and had your skills 😭 I'll just have to keep watching to learn all of your secrets 🤣
I’m so surprised at how many people prefer the past side! The only thing I would change about the new side is very lightly setting the undereye and concealing with a shade just one shade lighter, I think it would look more youthful. Either way, new side all the way for me. Old side looks more fake but you rocked it!
it's really not because of anything she put on her skin that people like the "then" better. the skin looks really similar on camera, that's for sure, but what's better about the "then" is: 1. lashes are cut nicely and aren't making the eye droopy 2. brows are darker and therefore go with the really dark eye look (in general i like the style of the "now" brow better but for this kind of dramatic look it's just too light) 3. the high inner corner highlight makes her nasal bridge appear much wider than it actually is on the "now" version.
Agreed. I like both sides, but how she does it now, looks much more youthful and natural - on the skin that is and the bronzer done the way she does now, definitely has a lifting effect and even slims her face. Her makeup done now, at 3/4 years later, actually makes her look younger than she did back then!
Literally came to comment that. I like everything about the new better except the lips IMO are too light. Even if she didn’t over draw them, I like the darker colors she used to use better. Obvi she’s gorgeous either way 🤷🏼♀️
Although you may like different lashes now the old style does really open up your eyes. I like the style of the newer lash but they weigh the eyes down
The new side is definitely better and looks more professional and practical, not like "TH-cam" makeup like the old side. PS.. I NEED a whole video of u w/ your cats k thx bye
I mean do people really wait until the end of the video, w their fav youtubers?! No ma’am. I always do it, because I don’t want to forget and I like to support/never a video I didn’t like.
I love the way your skin looks on the “now” side however, I love the overdrawn look and sharper brow on the “then” side. But makeup is meant to be fun and everyone can wear it the way that makes them feel awesome.
You're the best! Please do a throwback Thursday series using old makeup palettes!! It's hard to keep up with new makeup and not having inspo for my old palettes. I'd love to see your creativity at work with oldies but goodies!
I’m a recent subscriber binge watching all your videos and so confused why your channel isn’t more popping in the beauty community. Like damn you is funny and awesome to watch!!
You were spot on when you said the new way pulls your face up. I can’t believe the difference! I will be trying this today because your old way is closer to what I’ve been doing
Word for 2019: Seamless. The difference between then and now is really apparent, since your makeup look and application is much more cohesive and seamless.
I actually really love the 2015 side! When I first saw it in the thumbnail I was blown away. I'm sure the recent version looks more seamless in person but on the video, the 2015 side is so bomb.
Both sides are so pretty!! But the “new” side looks more soft and blended. The “old” side is still very very pretty but a little more harsh, especially the over done lip. I love the highlight on the “new”. I totally love your videos!! 💗🌵💗
My personal opinion, I think a mix of the two with some modifications would be best. I like the new brow for sure, as well as the fluffier eyelashes. Both methods of doing eye shadow have their benefits and in my opinion I don't have a clear favorite there. I've had the same conclusion as you about shape tape and powder under my eyes as I'm about the same age as you, so what I do is I make sure to prep my under eyes before makeup with eye cream. I use a more hydrating concealer, then use the tiniest bit of powder for a short bake under my eyes. Like 30 seconds. Then I spread that powder around my face. I think the new way of not setting your face brings out your texture a ton, I can especially tell in between your brows. I also think your BH Cosmetics bronzer are too orange for you. But as always you're talented and beautiful no matter what, and you should do what you want. But this is just my input if you are so interested!
Mollie Schonberger I totally agree. Her face looks smoother with the powder side rather than textured on the non powder side. I think using some powder wouldn’t do her harm, but it’s all in personal preference.
It might be a camera-translation thing and it probably looks a little different in person. I think both sides look pretty and I definitely think it's a good idea to not over powder (I tried using powder under my eyes a few times and IT. LOOKED. HORRIBLE.); however, at least on camera, I think the "new" side might be a little TOO shiny for my personal taste. I think I would aim for a middle ground between the ultra matte and ultra dewy for myself.
I love the way you do makeup period . But i think the “old” eye looks much more open and less closed. The new style of lash you use weighs down your eye and looks heavy. It even looks like it’s struggling to stay on.
Yeah I feel the way she also brought her brow down on the right made her eyes look smaller. The left opens up her eyes so much! I agree I love the way she does makeup period! Totally agree!
Do you get PR from fentybeauty, I want to see if you like her new concealer bc I heard it has a creamy or satin matte finish and thought you might like it.
I’m really happy that you actually did the “old side” realistically, and applied effort. Many people do this by half hazardously throwing products onto their face to make the difference more drastic.
I’m literally laying next to my cat right now lol. I’d loooove a kitty video 😻 he’s a loud purr machine! 😍 cutie! My Sandy Claws is purring and covering her face lol
I love the new way so much. I'm glad that someone I watch doesn't bake their face. I personally can't bake my face or use tarte shapetape because of dry patches but everyone used to do it. I'm glad that you've shown me that oh I can be dewy n shit and look good. Thanks bb Edit: I just read the comments and am so confused. Heavy concealer and powder looks quite wild in person and cakey tbh so I don't really know what people are talking about. And the bronzer isn't even orange I'm so confused lmao
Obsessed with how the way makeup ‘trends’ are changing. Always hated ‘instagram’ makeup on myself, so happy about dewyness these days! :) love the video, so interesting to see as I was subscribed back when you would do the old side. I think hourglass changed you after you tried the cream foundation stick (from memory) :) xx
Honestly you're beautiful either way and they both look great but I do agree with you on your current application process. PS...your bloopers give me life and are the highlight of my week.
Watching a lot of your old videos and I have to say I’m so sorry you recently lost your sweet kitty . You gave him the absolute most LOVE I’ve ever seen . God Bless you for your pure heart ❤️
I love the new way, but I'll say I prefer the "old style" lashes. At least on camera, your eye looks way more open and lifted than with the full fluttery lash, and the way it allows to see your eye makeup is cute :D
Its super interesting to me how much I love the “then” version in the thumbnail but in the actual video I like the “now” version more. Maybe we’re all just used to seeing the Instagram “then” side in pictures and that’s what we like when in reality your “now” side looks way better in person/ in video. Something to think about lol
Both are beautiful but I actually like the 2015 side better. Maybe it just works with the lights and camera better, no doubt the 2019 side looks better IRL. But this video actually made me want to try baking my face again if I know I'm going to be in a bunch of pictures.
I agree. I am sure IRL it is different, but on camera I prefer 2015. Either way you are simply stunning! I wish I looked half as good no matter which makeup look I chose
You and this video is what I’ve been searching for. Artificial...that seems to be the norm in most YT makeup videos nowadays. I’m so happy to see your now look and how good you look. After ignoring makeup for years while concentrating on my kids I came to see what new looks to try, but I couldn’t commit to an hour and a hundred steps to a daily look. So thank you very much for being you and for putting this out there.
2018 was a year where I figured out my own preference in makeup. I used to spend SO MUCH money on different liquid foundations, trying desperately to find a formula that actually suited me. Then I tried Mac studio fix powder foundation and honestly i’m not touching liquid foundations ever again lmao I find my skin looking SO much better with just concealer and a powder foundation. Honestly for me it’s been a revolutionary change it’s perfect For my oily/combo skin, especially the fact that it doesnt really settle into my smile lines
2018 seems to be a good year for makeup lovers. I found HG for most steps in my routine and not just makeup I never looked better from head to toe XD Glad others had the same good instincts last year. And I love the trend against the crazy consumerism like project pans, anti hauls, no or low buys, makeup rehab... Sorry for my english it is not my first language :)
How do you layer the concealer though? I'm really curious because I also have oily skin and matte liquid foundations feel like they suck out the moisture in my face, and the also tend to flake off during the day.
Livuurpread Baloney I actually put concealer first, I use it to hide most of my imperfections like undereyes, nose and chin. Then I go ahead and buff some powder foundation on top of it with a kabuki brush or something similar. I personally love using maybelline age rewind concealer and mac studio fix powder foundation together. I don’t have extremely oily skin, so this combo works for me. I do have to touch up during the day on my t zone especially nose area, but I dont mind, my skin still looks soo much better this way than with liquid foundation. Also, when I have events like parties and stuff I always use a good primer underneath and more longwear concealer mixed with the age rewind, also finish off with a good longwear settingspray. That way I find my face lasting longer!
Thank you for not linking KVD products. ❤️ I’m a healthcare professional, I can’t support someone who uses their platform to speak out against something that saves lives. Anyways, talk about a glow up!! Your left side looks so much softer and natural, you beautifully refined your techniques. 😍💕
I don’t get why anyone would say the old side, it makes your face look so flat even tho it’s supposed to do the opposite? Idk but the new side or recently side I feel like makes you look thinner and makes your face look more lifted, I would maybe say just like a shade lighter for concealer but other than that I like your new side better
People’s aren’t wrong when they say the “old way” makes you look more youthful.. cus it definitely made you look like a teenager with an attitude 😂😂 Your current routine is wayyyy better because it makes you look more mature and like your own age. LOVE IT. 💚💚💚
I think the right side looks kind of dated but on camera the more matte look makes your skin look more “perfect”, but in person it would def look caked. That’s something I’ve realized in the 2+ years I’ve been watching TH-cam beauty channels; what works for someone on camera often doesn’t work for me irl. I have gravitated towards TH-camrs who do makeup for real life, as well as ones who have similar skin tone and type when looking for revues and techniques on products that would work for me. At least for my base products. Everything else is open. Also feel free to show more pink nosed, purring biscuit makers. Not only is it ok it’s now a requirement.
I absolutely love that you decided to show how your makeup preferences have changed over time. It's really cool to see how even our "ride or die"s can evolve. 💗 I think that deciding which side is better isn't necessarily about all or nothing. There are elements of each side that I think work better than the other. I personally would incorporate things from both sides into every day. I like the eyeshadow on the new side, but the lashes on the old; the brows on the new side; the brightness of the undereyes on the old side, but the bronzer placement and the highlight on the new side; and definitely the lips on the new side. Overall I think that both sides have issues and strengths, and that a combination of your techniques could improve your overall look. Yes, the full look on the old side doesn't look as natural, but the new side looks unfinished with how much shine and texture are visable on all of your skin. It's almost like you can see every pore, bump, or line because of the way light reflects off of the dewyness or wetness. Whereas on the older side, your skin and especially your undereye, appear much more flawless. Maybe try using the same products on the new side, but lightly set it with some powder instead of packing it on or baking. 🤷 There's gotta be a give and take.
PERSONALLY I actually like a mix of your looks. From the old side: skin, eyeshadow, and lips sorta... From the new side: highlight, lashes, brows, and lips sorta...
100% agree. With the lips, if she did a slightly more pink toned lip gloss, that would be nice! Like the color of that liquid lip, but a gloss. I agree completely about the other stuff tho
Both sides are very pretty. Personally no you look more youthful on the earlier make up side. I feel the bronzer ages a person. But at the end of the day it comes down to what you are happiest with, and if one way makes you feel better, then that’s all that matters. I do agree with you on the not needing the powder thing. Too much powder is just a waste and not needed.
Yess, love that a guru fully explained why baking is not a necessity for all people! I have normal/dry skin as well and love a dewey look that I can tweak throughout the day/night🤗
I’m so freaking happy we’re starting to go away from wearing super heavy, matte, full coverage foundation and just the whole over the top unnatural makeup trend. Any time I would do my makeup like that it would look so horrible. I just started doing my face more natural and it looks SO much better.
I 100% prefer the now vs then. Sooooo much more youthful. I’m with you sister. I went right along with you, stopped powdering, stopped baking, and stopped setting my under eye concealer (gasp) and I love it so much more than the old way I did my makeup. At 40 I can’t tolerate all that powder. You look slimmer, more beautiful, and more youthful on the dewy side. Love your cat!
Anyone else automatically LIKE RawBeautyKristi videos just after opening them? I already know I will love this! I’m pretty sure at least 75% of my makeup collection is full of RawBeautyKristi recommendations. Not even mad about that!
The old side, that "Instagram" type skin beat looks really bad for my skin textures in real life. But i HAVE to set my face, i can't stand the feeling of wet foundation, and how my hair sticks to it. But overall, i think i prefer the new side too.
So happy you don't support kvd anymore! whenever I see somebody use a kvd product I hope they'll say something and I feel like hardly anybody has. I use to be the biggest fan of hers and I'm so disappointing but they're so many other great brands out there that are honestly more affordable that I would rather spend my money on.
Kris Si I was wondering the same thing. I’m super confused as to why people don’t support her anymore. I must’ve missed something. I can’t imagine it’s over a choice to not vaccinate.
What it's got to do with her make up?I don't care, her personal decisions won't make me feel different about her product.is she the only one not vaccinating her child?no she is not Neither I care about her comments bout meat eaters etc. Ppl need to stop being soooooo oversensitive It's about make up not personal choices Cancelling her seems to be a thing now
Love love love the new style! I’m so here for the natural, dewy look. It looks great on you. I especially like the skin, the lips and brows. Totally agree with shape tape, it may be really brightening but it dries your under eye out so much that you lose all the youthful brightening effect to the cakey mess it makes.
I actually love both then and now. I feel like then is more of a special occasion very dramatic look and now is very soft and warm and wearable everyday look. Honestly I'm biased to then brow because it's what suits me personally, but I also find the spikey lash is better suited to the halo eye. It doesn't look like its competing with the halo and letting it peak through a bit more than the soft fluffy lash. I like how you presented this as a then vs now rather than a do vs don't. They are both flattering on you.
Ok. So. I sprang out of bed with an idea. What if to prove the awesomeness of the new techniques you do a video where you use your new products in the old way and the old products in the new way. Food for thought!!!
The way you do your makeup now makes you look so much younger! It also makes you look kinder which is a weird thing to say but I feel like there was a harshness that made people seem unapproachable to the old 2015 Instagram style makeup. That style with it’s cut out and heavily contoured look almost makes it look like stage makeup. And I do wear and have worn stage makeup for years and years on stage and they’ve been doing baking, contour, and heavily winged eyeliner for years because it looks great on stage. Of course, up close or in daylight stage makeup looks absolutely nutso. I’m glad makeup is heading back in a more natural direction.
@Elizabeth D I totally agree!! I still wear a small amount of light coverage concealer on occasion, but more often just some sparkly eyeshadow and mascara, maybe some eyebrow gel but I RARELY add anything to my face. I cant stand the way it looks, it's always cakey and heavy and way too much for every day wear. No hate on anyone who wears a full face...it just personally isn't my thing whatsoever! 💕
....everything you did in the old one is EXACTLY what I do now. From the eyebrows, to the white highlighter to the contour and definitely the eye makeup ...
When I turned 40, I started going lighter and more natural with my makeup. Especially with my everyday work makeup. I LOVE makeup and skin care. I was a hairdresser for 12 years and used to give facials. But I really think once you hit a certain age. Lighter more natural makeup is fresher and makes you look younger. So no more false eyelashes or heavy eye makeup. No baking. Or heavy contour for me. lol. But its a personal choice. I get asked all the time about my skin and base makeup. So I figure I'm doing something right. But I tell people, you do you. Whatever makes you feel good. I really love the way you apply your makeup now. It is way more fresh looking. But saying that, I do think the old way by baking did carve out your cheeks and thin your face. As it used to do for my very square face. But it aged your skin. Like it used to age my skin. So I would say stick to how you are applying it now. Where it looks fresh, glowy and dewy. Your lips and brows look so much better how you are doing them now. I recently started using a face powder after not doing so for over 10 years. In the 80's and 90's I was all about the Coty Air Spun powder..lol. WAY before all the big TH-camr's started using it. Lol. I'm almost 52 and think setting powders show every line and wrinkle. At least on me. I use a little Estee Lauder pressed powder on my chin and forehead on the days I get a little oily. Once again great video!
Deanna Beasley I’m Turing 40 this year and am wondering if you mind telling me what you do use for skin care? I’ve really started noticing all the changes in my skin just in the last couple years. My husband repeatedly tells me that I look younger with no makeup but I’m in love with makeup/skin care and applying it is my favorite part of the day. Also, what is your favorite foundation? Thanks for your time!!
@@katunfiltered I have VERY sensitive skin. The only soap and deodorant I have used since I was a teenager is Dove. Anytime I try anything else it breaks me out. I have used Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer for over 20 years. And use on my body also. I also really enjoy Clinique skincare. Through the years I have tried ALOT from drugstore to highend. Plus professional products through hair/beauty supply companies. I always go back to Cetaphil. No suntanning or fake tanning for me. Sunscreen is MAJOR. I use a 50 babyblock because regular sunscreen break me out. A baby block is more sensitive. I use Aveeno. Drink ALOT of water. And Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. If you look up on youtube there are a few really good dermatologist who have channels. Many will say less is more. You really don't need a seperate eye cream and a dozen steps in our skincare but most of us enjoy them anyways. But EVERYDAY drink water, apply sunscreen and moisturizer I think are key things. And right now I'm stuck with my foundation. For years I used Clinique. Then I switched to Cover Girl. Think it was Age Rewind They discontinued that one and replaced it with Simply Ageless. It is not the same. I have made it work. And get compliments. But its not my favorite. I have tried ALOT. Probably will go back to my Clinique. I used to use Superbalanced. But think I am going to try the Even Better. And I'm using Estee Lauder set, blur finish powder right now. Another great setting powder from the drugstore is ELF prime and stay finishing powder its only $2.
Deanna Beasley wow! Thanks for your response! I need to practice the “less is more” mind sets Social media has really suckered me into the “more is more” 😂
''and now we quit using Kat von D for more than one reason'' giiiiiiiiirl hahahah!!! Killing it. I find it fascinating how similar we do our makeup now! I also used to think I never ever would go back to a foundation brush rather than a beautyblender, but look at me now... Don't even need my bb anymore! Same goes for setting powder, I've never baked my face because of my dry skin but I used to set everything with powders anyway. Now I only ever so slightly set my undereyes (with the tiniest bit of powder that works for me) and sometimes my smile lines. I haven't been brave enough yet to skip setting my lids before shadow, but now when you showed the incredibly difference it makes I will definitely try it!
JosefinVictoria I feel like I stopped powdering my face after I stopped watching the dramatic beauty gurus and started watching HEROS like Kristi, Sam, and Jamie Paige.
@@roxypaquette9501 Yeah, same! I always thought ''well if these beauty gurus are doing it, it's gotta be the thing to do right??'' but baking the shit out of my face never worked for me... Even if it would just be for 1 minute! Today I obviously know better about beauty gurus, they're just normal people like everyone else and the things they do doesn't work for everyone. But I'm happy that people like Kristi are showing us that baking isn't always neccessary!
Both sides were beautiful. You’ve inspired me to go out of my comfort zone and try applying my makeup in ways I don’t usually do. Makeup is so personal and everyone has their own preferences. It’s fun to look back over time and see how your preferences change.
I actually prefer the way the older side looks, although I would definitely go somewhere in the middle of the two. Cos damn that's a lot of powder! Both are stunning either way!
The old side looks to me absolutely flawless, perfect for taking HD photos. It looks like airbrushed wow. In the new side the pores are more emphasized, it looks more natural. The new eyebrow technique combined with the old foundation technique would be so amazing. Like a mix of both. Very beautiful look!
I love the eyes the old way. I think they look more open and uplifted and the now side looks heavy and downturned. However, I like the face on the now side. I think it’s more youthful and dewy. Oh and I love the now brow!
The now side has a lot of improvements but the old side’s base makes you look younger. Maybe do a light set with powder, no baking on the new now side :)
It’s just placement of bronzer and blush. Put blush on the highest part of your cheek bones and don’t smile and put it on your apples. Cause when you go back to not smiling it’ll drop and lower where your blush is
@@AdaylnTheLifeOf So a different makeup application caused her face to appear more lifted? Cool. It is also her shadow shape, her lash, and the fact that her under-eye concealer is doing its job.
The "now" eye looks larger, elongated & less round. Probably the false lashes. As you pointed out, the extreme horizontal shapes of the spiky lashes actually shortened the width of your eye visually. Interesting. Unfortunately texture doesn't really show on camera but I understand what you mean. As far as doing my own makeup differently, the only real differences in how I wear my makeup now vs how I did before is I now wear black mascara ( always use brown or brown/black before) & I now wear bronzer & highlighter which weren't a thing for the first 25 years I was doing makeup lol. ( I started with mu in 1972) If done right, both can be beautiful. If done incorrectly- well, not so much. It's always fun to watch trends come & go & see what's old be new again.
I understand! I started to wear makeup in 1978. For the first two years or so a very light, natural look was "in": a bit of foundation or powder (maybe), a smudge of brown eyeshadow, blush, mascara and lip gloss. This is the first time in my life that I have a lot of makeup! ~Anastacia in Cleveland
This is actually super helpful for the general population. I got into watching beauty content around 2015 and thought that I was just not doing enough to look "put together". Turns out that I'm just not a full face kind of girl. I was also in a transitionary period with my skin where aging was starting to give me problems I'd never experienced before, like dryness. I had always had oily skin, so I thought I'd always be oily. But now I have what I call "extreme combo skin". After lots of research, trial and error, I've found things that work for me and keep my skin more balanced. I love that you are always honest about things and do what you love to do.
Kristi, im late watching this. But if you would have watched how you did eyes b4 you used to ALWAYS do a half cut crease then use fix+ to put your shimmers on. You started changing to a halo eye after following a Jacolyn Hill video (you did this during the "i tried following ___ tutorial". Trust me ive been following you for a hot minute. You would ALWAYS do a big dramatic winged eyeliner and smoke out the bottom lash!.
I like be both but I totally agree with you. There’s things you were saying about the older makeup set that makes total sense-the now make up looks natural beautiful and glowy 💖 Your kitty cat is soooo adorable😍💖
You are so amazing. I love seeing you & Madeye interact. It warms m Uh heart. I have 8 cats that I absolutely adore & my house completely burned down New Years morning & my family & I lost everything but the clothes on our backs. I am staying with a neighbor right now & they hate cats & I'm so scared I will have to take mine go to the shelter. It breaks my heart so bad because they are apart of my family.
Also I wanted to say that at my animal shelter theres a program where they will take in cats from a person or persons until you are back on ur feet and and then give them back to you, I dont know if u have anything like this..
So sorry for your loss! As another poster said, check with local pet shelters, and also your vet- we were without power for some time after a hurricane, and my vet took in my chinchillas until we were able to get back to normal. They also offered to find a temporary foster family for them if it were going to be more long term.
I'm glad you addressed the powder situation. I never cease to be amazed at the amount of powder many people on TH-cam use to set their makeup or even to set their under eye concealer. I am 67 with extremely dry skin, and I have just never felt that setting powder made me look better than I would without it. In the warmer weather, I do sometimes use powder on the center of my forehead and my nose. That's it. Oddly, I tend to like the eye on the old side but I like everything else better on the new side.
Yea camera vs IRL is totally different
Zabrena does those and they are so fun to watch.
She would be so good at that!
Yes! I need to see you in some 90’s style makeup
Southern Mommy of Three Alyssa Ashley does a decade wheel idea that’s pretty fun.
Thank you everyone for your kind replies!

Love your channel and hope for the best in 2019
Audri Murray wow this is so kind of you thank you 😭😭💕💕
Agreed. She's the best.
Old side looks more fake but you rocked it!
it's really not because of anything she put on her skin that people like the "then" better. the skin looks really similar on camera, that's for sure, but what's better about the "then" is: 1. lashes are cut nicely and aren't making the eye droopy 2. brows are darker and therefore go with the really dark eye look (in general i like the style of the "now" brow better but for this kind of dramatic look it's just too light) 3. the high inner corner highlight makes her nasal bridge appear much wider than it actually is on the "now" version.
i love the now side of her makeup, it reminds me of runway makeup which is always much more youthful and fresh
I totally prefer the older side !!
Nah the new lashes look like caterpillars
Older people/people with dry skin should deffo not put powder on the undereye! Thats an instagram thing and isnt for everyone.
The side that you didn’t set looks more lifted and plump and younger love it
The way you do your bronzer / contour now definitely lifts your face up and makes you look even younger !!!
Agreed. I like both sides, but how she does it now, looks much more youthful and natural - on the skin that is and the bronzer done the way she does now, definitely has a lifting effect and even slims her face. Her makeup done now, at 3/4 years later, actually makes her look younger than she did back then!
Karen W -I agree 100%!
Love the “new” side the best, but like the lips of the “old” better
I like the new lips better. The old one looks too fake in my opinion. But it is just a preference
Literally came to comment that. I like everything about the new better except the lips IMO are too light. Even if she didn’t over draw them, I like the darker colors she used to use better. Obvi she’s gorgeous either way 🤷🏼♀️
Old TH-cam vs current TH-cam! Loved the video and I would enjoy to see this version of video 3 years from now hahaha
same.
I take my raw beauty crispy in all forms
Old way is going out at night makeup for me and the new way is more of a daily look for me.
Although you may like different lashes now the old style does really open up your eyes. I like the style of the newer lash but they weigh the eyes down
kristen skala I agree!
Agree
I feel like a wispier more even pattern (rather than blades) would achieve a more lifted look! She is stunning eother way though. 💕
It's 2019 and that 2015 eyebrow is still slaying the game.
The new side is definitely better and looks more professional and practical, not like "TH-cam" makeup like the old side. PS.. I NEED a whole video of u w/ your cats k thx bye
My sister just asked me why I “liked” this video before I watched it... PSHHHHHHHH, girl I already know I like it, it’s rawbeautykristi !! hahah
Bianca lmao!!!! Freaking same!!!
I mean do people really wait until the end of the video, w their fav youtubers?! No ma’am.
I always do it, because I don’t want to forget and I like to support/never a video I didn’t like.
Me too!!!! Love all these vids.
Same!
Yesssssssssssss girl!!!
Who else thinks our girl’s gonna hit 1 mil this year?
Her microscope video has like 4 million views. Shes getting hot man.
Nope,almost tho
She better! She deserves so many more subscribers! I don’t get it.
I started following today and m now binge watching. I wish she had more followers! She's awesome.
She hit 1m!!
GREAT idea
Yes! I’m hoping this is a new trend in 2019!
I would love to see that!
My palette collection is growing - up to 8 palettes now! But I certainly don't keep up with every new thing.
Yes, please please!! I know other people do it but I don’t like other people lol
Alana Campbell 😂😂😂Best comment of 2019! Already! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Both sides look good but the new way looks like healthy skin.
Yes, just what I was thinking 💜
I’m a recent subscriber binge watching all your videos and so confused why your channel isn’t more popping in the beauty community. Like damn you is funny and awesome to watch!!
Sarah Gausman me too. I’m new and watching all her videos. I just love her!
She's hilarious, I completely agree!
Someday when you get a different camera I'm really going to miss the "I'm orange" clips! 😂 🧡
Haley Jones Same! 😂😂😂
Me too! Those are my favs 😂
I am 100% going to miss all the, "I'm ORANGE! Why am I orange?!?!" Outtakes. 😂
Raw “Am I Orange” Kristi....always hahaha
😂😂
You were spot on when you said the new way pulls your face up. I can’t believe the difference! I will be trying this today because your old way is closer to what I’ve been doing
The current way you do your makeup is so flattering. You’re beautiful either way, but it’s next level the new way.
2019 is the year of light coverage, dewy foundations. RawRadientKristy2019
Word for 2019: Seamless. The difference between then and now is really apparent, since your makeup look and application is much more cohesive and seamless.
like John Mclean Seamlessness
Agreed!
@@chellecopley67 I was gonna say "Okay John McLean!" Hahaha. Please tell me you've seen the parody.
@@anghellbeth noooooo, I don't think so anyway. Who did the parody? I'm on the search now lol
LOVE THE NEW. Let skin be skin, natural, breathable, effortless, fresh, modern, REAL.
" *That's the that about that* " 😂
I actually really love the 2015 side!
"KVD Shade & Light Palette
Not gonna link this."
😂 love you.
Why does she not like kvd? I wanna know the tea
What did I miss???
Same. I need to know.
BeautyByBailey Kay Von D is anti child vaccination so a lot of people have stopped supporting her and her brand.
Love this 🤣
Ooo I live for Raw Shady Kristi 🙌🏻
Never apologize for keeping in the clips where you love your kitties for a long time, I’m absolutely living for it you’re such a good mama 😻
The way the powder looks on camera is not gonna look that good in person
1000% agree. Elongate the eye on the new side and tweak the lashes, we've got a winner.
Yeah I feel the way she also brought her brow down on the right made her eyes look smaller. The left opens up her eyes so much! I agree I love the way she does makeup period! Totally agree!
@Redheaded Strangerit's funny, the older I get the more I go for dewy vs matte. This is a great idea. Now I just need to conquer false lashes
Do you get PR from fentybeauty, I want to see if you like her new concealer bc I heard it has a creamy or satin matte finish and thought you might like it.
Darren Kheng just got it today! I’m gonna try it out ASAP!!
Please do a video for us 😩😩
I love how you do your eyebrows now
I’m really happy that you actually did the “old side” realistically, and applied effort. Many people do this by half hazardously throwing products onto their face to make the difference more drastic.
The new side is way better! Bronze , glowy and gorgeous. I will say that you can definitely pull off the over lined lip
Can you upload like a 45 minute video of just loving on your cats plz???
lol
I’m literally laying next to my cat right now lol. I’d loooove a kitty video 😻 he’s a loud purr machine! 😍 cutie! My Sandy Claws is purring and covering her face lol
Yessss! I love it when she speaks in her kitty voice , so freaking adorable!
Yes please!!! I love cats, but I’m very allergic to them😭.
I would watch this
I love the new way so much. I'm glad that someone I watch doesn't bake their face. I personally can't bake my face or use tarte shapetape because of dry patches but everyone used to do it. I'm glad that you've shown me that oh I can be dewy n shit and look good. Thanks bb
Edit: I just read the comments and am so confused. Heavy concealer and powder looks quite wild in person and cakey tbh so I don't really know what people are talking about. And the bronzer isn't even orange I'm so confused lmao
ella worm agree 100%!!
Agree
Love you, Kristi! I prefer your 'Now' look. Straight fire! 🖤
Ditto!
You have so clearly learned what works for your face and the look you want to achieve through tones and textures. Stunning.
I love that the "baked" side looked "cakey" 😂😂😂
I'll leave now.
Its super interesting to me how much I love the “then” version in the thumbnail but in the actual video I like the “now” version more. Maybe we’re all just used to seeing the Instagram “then” side in pictures and that’s what we like when in reality your “now” side looks way better in person/ in video. Something to think about lol
was watching this next to my bf and he looked over and said, "oh, it's that lady! how is she doing?"😂
Both are beautiful but I actually like the 2015 side better. Maybe it just works with the lights and camera better, no doubt the 2019 side looks better IRL. But this video actually made me want to try baking my face again if I know I'm going to be in a bunch of pictures.
Completely agree. 2015 for pictures, 2018 for real life.
I agree, I've noticed the bronzer seems too dark lately, I presumed it was the camera, looks more textured too. Still love Kristi's attitude.
I agree. I am sure IRL it is different, but on camera I prefer 2015. Either way you are simply stunning! I wish I looked half as good no matter which makeup look I chose
Yay! Finally a full week of Kristi! I missed my routine.
Henna Elina I love that foundation too! It stays all day, doesn’t look cakey etc. JCat’s powder foundation is great too.
2018 seems to be a good year for makeup lovers. I found HG for most steps in my routine and not just makeup I never looked better from head to toe XD
Glad others had the same good instincts last year.
That way I find my face lasting longer!
omg dude i have been doing the same lately
Thank you for not linking KVD products. ❤️
I’m a healthcare professional, I can’t support someone who uses their platform to speak out against something that saves lives.
Anyways, talk about a glow up!! Your left side looks so much softer and natural, you beautifully refined your techniques. 😍💕
Missy Maria 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I don’t get why anyone would say the old side, it makes your face look so flat even tho it’s supposed to do the opposite? Idk but the new side or recently side I feel like makes you look thinner and makes your face look more lifted, I would maybe say just like a shade lighter for concealer but other than that I like your new side better
People’s aren’t wrong when they say the “old way” makes you look more youthful.. cus it definitely made you look like a teenager with an attitude 😂😂 Your current routine is wayyyy better because it makes you look more mature and like your own age. LOVE IT. 💚💚💚
:ç.M
I feel too much powder ages a person too. I'm old lol so I can't bake my under eye or use alot of powder in general because I look 90. 👵
Yess, love that a guru fully explained why baking is not a necessity for all people! I have normal/dry skin as well and love a dewey look that I can tweak throughout the day/night🤗
WHY AM I SO CONFLICTED 😭💗
Mary Lee sane!

Same! I have to try this tomorrow 😂
@AliVerdd exactly❤️
I’m so freaking happy we’re starting to go away from wearing super heavy, matte, full coverage foundation and just the whole over the top unnatural makeup trend. Any time I would do my makeup like that it would look so horrible. I just started doing my face more natural and it looks SO much better.
nikkie tutorials won't have a job anymore 😱😱 or will be forced to change 😮 (sorry for my random reply, your comment just popped her in my mind) 😓
@@andymkp that is funny.. I thought about Niki when I watched the video and about what she will do when the trend goes back to more natural..
I actually don't mind the old lip though, but overall the new looks sooo much better than the old! It looks more youthful! Amazing video Kristi 😍💕
The old side, that "Instagram" type skin beat looks really bad for my skin textures in real life. But i HAVE to set my face, i can't stand the feeling of wet foundation, and how my hair sticks to it. But overall, i think i prefer the new side too.
I like everything on the current side better except for the lashes! I do actually like the old lashes better.
Natty Cat can someone explain to me what she did lol
Is it to do with her decision not to vaccinate her kid?
Kris Si I was wondering the same thing. I’m super confused as to why people don’t support her anymore. I must’ve missed something. I can’t imagine it’s over a choice to not vaccinate.
@@alys4570 pretty much.
What it's got to do with her make up?I don't care, her personal decisions won't make me feel different about her product.is she the only one not vaccinating her child?no she is not
Neither I care about her comments bout meat eaters etc. Ppl need to stop being soooooo oversensitive
It's about make up not personal choices
Cancelling her seems to be a thing now
Love love love the new style! I’m so here for the natural, dewy look. It looks great on you. I especially like the skin, the lips and brows. Totally agree with shape tape, it may be really brightening but it dries your under eye out so much that you lose all the youthful brightening effect to the cakey mess it makes.
Lmao I was screaming at my screen when you almost did the natural brow on the wrong side 😂😂
How you do it now just looks so much fresher and lifted. Love it!
Ok.
I need to practice the “less is more” mind sets Social media has really suckered me into the “more is more” 😂
When you're oily as all hell and have to powder your face 😭😭😭😭
The new side is so so pretty, i love how much more vibrant and blended the shadows look. Also sad to not know the lash name, they're gorgeous!
Basically, Kristi’s “now” side is my current everyday look, and her “then” face is my current clubbing/party look 😂
“What’s up friend” lmfao 😂😂😂
The old side looks to me absolutely flawless, perfect for taking HD photos. It looks like airbrushed wow. In the new side the pores are more emphasized, it looks more natural.
The new eyebrow technique combined with the old foundation technique would be so amazing.
Like a mix of both. Very beautiful look!
Haley Pate yes, I guess personal taste is different
I love the eyes the old way. I think they look more open and uplifted and the now side looks heavy and downturned. However, I like the face on the now side. I think it’s more youthful and dewy. Oh and I love the now brow!
The lash on the right side is making the eye different looking than the left side:
The 2015 side looks more youthful & less textured, It's a lot smoother. But the other side looks pretty too, more glowy
The now side has a lot of improvements but the old side’s base makes you look younger. Maybe do a light set with powder, no baking on the new now side :)
The left side (your right) looks much more lifted, imho.
@@AdaylnTheLifeOf Oh, and her brow.
I think the then eye looks much larger 😮
100% would just watch you pet cats.
Same!
Thought you might have a channel by your pic, so I checked it out and sub'd! Sewing is something I really need to learn more about!
I was also waiting for the big wing liner!
I like be both but I totally agree with you. There’s things you were saying about the older makeup set that makes total sense-the now make up looks natural beautiful and glowy 💖
Your kitty cat is soooo adorable😍💖
I was sooooo bored but than Kristi posts, my night is made 😁
Always!!
Holy shit. This breaks my heart!!! Where do you live?!
@@hayleyk6350 I live in Ohio.
@@SelfTaughtBeauty Oh my god, I'm so sorry, not your babies! surely someone can help you. Maybe try gofundme.
I like the before side abit more personally but they are both gorgeous
