    I didn't have peacocks, had a 75g mbuna tank..but eventually sold all the stock as I grew tired of the frustration of dealing with beat-up fish etc...I'm sure I'll go back to Africans ( will do things differently), just not sure when

    Definitely GOTTA ask if anyone's got time to help??? So quickly.... I have two Canister Filters Fluval 407's two sponge filters and two wave maker's.... Trying to make SURE that I have my intake and outakes pointing right way?? Does ANYONE have them both on ONE side or left and right but pointing which way? Right now I have mine both of each side with wave maker's one up top for surface agitation and other on other side 90 degree angle pointing at other one but I'm more focused on getting these intake and outake pointing the riiight way?? Get that circular motion!! Thanks in advance for anyone watching and willing to reply!

    • @brandnlaws

      My dad had bunch of extra black matting for the background. He uses it for frames and it comes in huge sheets. Its not cheap so I don't recommend it. Paint it black is best. I have used both NICREW and Beamswork DA lights. The Beamswork "DA" is superior!!! 48 inch. Highly recommend

    • @brandnlaws
      @brandnlaws  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't work for me. I've put them in my bed room tank for a month, put them back and right back to terrorizing. The anger can be neutralized typically by adding them to a tank of bigger fish.

    hi how much cichlid salt u add on your water changes I have a 100 gallon and I do 50 percent water changes and do add cichlid salt and traces and malawi buffer I think im doin it correctly im not good with measurements lol can u please tell me how much u add correctly amount

    • @brandnlaws
      @brandnlaws  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I follow the instructions on the back. For malawi peacocks and haps it recommends 3/4 of a teaspoon per 10 gallons. That is for the whole tank initially. After first dose and 50 percent water change just cut it in half. So about 3 to 3 1/2 teaspoons for a 50 percent water change on a 100 gallon.

      no such thing as too much filtration.

    • @brandnlaws
      @brandnlaws  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1 fx4 or fx6 would be sufficient. In my opinion dont get fx4. They have the same flow and for 50 bucks you get 33 percent more bioload. I have two filters on all my tanks in case of a failure. Having both filters cuts down on filter maintenance tremendously. I only clean them about every 6 months. I do agree no such thing as too much filtration. People always worry about the flow. If you angle your intakes properly you will have excellent surface agitation and perfect flow. I cant say enough about fx6. Absolutely my favorite filtration system.

      I'm not a fan of wave makers. I dont want the fish blown around. I use an fx4 and fx6 both intakes are in the corners and then the outtakes are centered and pointed up and out as far as they can go. Amazing surface agitation. I keep them wide open. Your setup should be fine. Sounds like you are doing a great job

      I've tried cichlid stones. I've tried caves. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. I dont have an aggression issue (currently). With my experience decor became a territory which the fish fight for, constantly. I have had much better success with no decor. Im glad that is working for you but did not work for me. Also its only a 75 gallon tank and peacocks and haps are free swimmers so I want them to have the full space of the tank to do that. Thanks for your advice, I definitely consider it.

    Why bother smoothing the sand out? It's their house, let them set it up how they want. Also needs some rocks, they have no way to establish territory.

    • @brandnlaws
      @brandnlaws  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I smooth the sand out for aesthetic reasons and to eliminate the created territories. Once they dig a hole they usually guard the hole and become territorial. I've been lucky lately and haven't dealt with aggression in months.
