I didn't have peacocks, had a 75g mbuna tank..but eventually sold all the stock as I grew tired of the frustration of dealing with beat-up fish etc...I'm sure I'll go back to Africans ( will do things differently), just not sure when
Definitely GOTTA ask if anyone's got time to help??? So quickly.... I have two Canister Filters Fluval 407's two sponge filters and two wave maker's.... Trying to make SURE that I have my intake and outakes pointing right way?? Does ANYONE have them both on ONE side or left and right but pointing which way? Right now I have mine both of each side with wave maker's one up top for surface agitation and other on other side 90 degree angle pointing at other one but I'm more focused on getting these intake and outake pointing the riiight way?? Get that circular motion!! Thanks in advance for anyone watching and willing to reply!
Hey I have a question, I was thinking of ordering from imperial tropical. So you would recommend them? Thanks and your cichlids look fantastic thanks for sharing👍🏻
Best tank I’ve seen. I was going off the idea of a cichlid tank because I weren’t sure exactly what I wanted but this is now what I’d like. I can’t find a shop that calls then by their ‘nickname’ though, only the Latin names 😠
My dad had bunch of extra black matting for the background. He uses it for frames and it comes in huge sheets. Its not cheap so I don't recommend it. Paint it black is best. I have used both NICREW and Beamswork DA lights. The Beamswork "DA" is superior!!! 48 inch. Highly recommend
Didn't work for me. I've put them in my bed room tank for a month, put them back and right back to terrorizing. The anger can be neutralized typically by adding them to a tank of bigger fish.
@@brandnlaws Yeah. It works if the bullied fish just needs to get settled and have time to get stronger...not so much if the bully's just a far bigger you-know-what than the others can match.
Hides create territories. Didnt work for me. Created killers. I have done much better with no decor. Its working well. My fish free swim all day with very little aggression.
hi how much cichlid salt u add on your water changes I have a 100 gallon and I do 50 percent water changes and do add cichlid salt and traces and malawi buffer I think im doin it correctly im not good with measurements lol can u please tell me how much u add correctly amount
I follow the instructions on the back. For malawi peacocks and haps it recommends 3/4 of a teaspoon per 10 gallons. That is for the whole tank initially. After first dose and 50 percent water change just cut it in half. So about 3 to 3 1/2 teaspoons for a 50 percent water change on a 100 gallon.
1 fx4 or fx6 would be sufficient. In my opinion dont get fx4. They have the same flow and for 50 bucks you get 33 percent more bioload. I have two filters on all my tanks in case of a failure. Having both filters cuts down on filter maintenance tremendously. I only clean them about every 6 months. I do agree no such thing as too much filtration. People always worry about the flow. If you angle your intakes properly you will have excellent surface agitation and perfect flow. I cant say enough about fx6. Absolutely my favorite filtration system.
Absolutely. I cover all my tanks. I enjoy the top view without the cover but I'm not a fan of topping it off every couple days. Plus the humidity level in the house.
😂 well for me? What is yours set up on though? Do you have them on the left and right sides with the outakes pushing out and then COULDN'T find your wave maker lol but I know ones in there I believe due to them swinging.... So what would you suggest though? I've got two Fluval 407's and two sponge filters and two wave maker's..?
I'm not a fan of wave makers. I dont want the fish blown around. I use an fx4 and fx6 both intakes are in the corners and then the outtakes are centered and pointed up and out as far as they can go. Amazing surface agitation. I keep them wide open. Your setup should be fine. Sounds like you are doing a great job
I've tried cichlid stones. I've tried caves. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. I dont have an aggression issue (currently). With my experience decor became a territory which the fish fight for, constantly. I have had much better success with no decor. Im glad that is working for you but did not work for me. Also its only a 75 gallon tank and peacocks and haps are free swimmers so I want them to have the full space of the tank to do that. Thanks for your advice, I definitely consider it.
Definitely GOTTA ask man!! Also if anyone's got time to help??? So quickly.... I have two Canister Filters like this setup? There just Fluval 407's two sponge filters and two wave maker's.... I smooth the sand out for aesthetic reasons and to eliminate the created territories. Once they dig a hole they usually guard the hole and become territorial. I've been lucky lately and haven't dealt with aggression in months.
Keeping dragon bloods and/or OBs never ends well, that's why I don't deal with hybrids. Beautiful tank btw.
Don’t take it so hard. You’re a great fish dad. You take wonderful care of all of your tanks.

How do you keep adding different fish? Is it hard to keep track
Hey I have a question, I was thinking of ordering from imperial tropical. So you would recommend them? Thanks and your cichlids look fantastic thanks for sharing👍🏻
100 percent recommend. Never lost a fish on shipping. Great customer service
brandnlaws thank you! I’m looking at getting some albino red empress from them, they look awesome!
Yes they do 💪💪💪
I just picked up an albino turkis and a yellow benga from them. Unfortunately didn't get a video but ill show an update soon. They are stunning
brandnlaws excellent! I’m subscribing to your channel! In 54321 bam!
With running 2 filters did you put both intakes on the sale of the aquarium
Just add a eye biter cichlid that will sort it out .great tank mate

@@brandnlaws What light are you running on here? I think that’s why they look so good. Also, have you painted or blacked out the back of the tank?

The idea of time out is to get tthem to completely forget your tank. That doesn't work iif they can still see it....

Put in rocks!! More than two
I have the same issue... Cichled fighting in my tank. What the solution?
If his digging wholes there is a female in the tank
That’s why they killing each other
Like the previous comment u need something to block line of sight, stones, caves, artificial plant or real no matter..
Hides create territories. Didnt work for me. Created killers. I have done much better with no decor. Its working well. My fish free swim all day with very little aggression.
When he is digging holes in the sand, that's their "breeding motion" and he is trying to attract a female to that corner to breed with!!
hey man i added some hidding space now they chase each other around the tank sometimes over hidding spots
They are very territorial. Exactly why I dont use hides.

Coming soon. Thank you 😊

What’s the rank size
Wait, you’re running fx4 and fx6 on a 60gal???
I was. I upggraded the tank to a 75 gallon in November. I have fx4 and fx6 on two of my 75 gallons.

@@brandnlaws ya great or else they may jump out
You need more fishes to prevent aggression. At least 50.
50 !!!!!!!
@Rob overstocking peacocks does lessen aggression
how big is your tank?
At the time of this video, it was a 60 gallon. I upgraded to a 75 gallon black friday
I keep the ob’s and albinos in one tank cause they’re fragile, and the blue and red apache lookin ones in another tank cause they’re bullies
nice color what do you feed them??
Northfin cichlid, Northfin krill, northfin bug pro and occasionally bloodworms or brine shrimp. I rotate the first 3 daily. Once a day!!!
@@brandnlaws ever tried Ron's food??
I haven't but I've heard good things. Especially their medicated food.

My peacock got chewed up under the throat and died. $20 investment gone man .... sniff sniff
Sorry to hear that. I've had a pretty good run here lately. No losses

Why bother smoothing the sand out? It's their house, let them set it up how they want. Also needs some rocks, they have no way to establish territory.
