@@Helpingstudents1 because proximal muscles are larger muscles and have high metabolic requirement... which is easily affected in Thyroid disorders and Diabetes....
Generally proximal muscles are larger and thus metabolic insults are likely to affect them. Remember their metabolic needs are higher. But there are distal myopathies too like Welanders but they are rare.
