Fun fact: The bit where Gohan asks why Piccolo didn’t dodge Frieza’s beam wasn’t in the original abridged episode and a fan commented why they didn’t use that joke. And TFS was like “fuuucck” and they were so mad they missed it so they made up for it in the Kai episode Lul

I'm pretty confident the over 9000 stuff you'd seen prior to watching DBZ abridged was just the original dub scene. It was a huge meme that preceded team four star, they didn't contribute much to it other than acknowledging it

@@ChicagoReacts to add onto this, the original meme video was created by Kajetokun, known for other bangers such as "Ninja info cards" and "Fingers around my d" and "the balls are inert". Just taking the official dubs and remixing them to sound silly.
@@ChicagoReacts there are like different dubs of that scene each one with a different voice cast, so your memory might be from one of those.
The first and most known was from the Ocean dub cast and Brian Drummond as Vegeta.
Funimation would later on re dub this scene with a different voice cast and this time with Christopher Sabat as Vegeta, i think there's also the kai version (but i think in that one they say 8000 instead of 9000)
@@soyakat Yes, in Kai the number is 8000. In the og dbz the line was always "It's over 8000!" in the Japanese sub but was mistranslated for the dub as 9000. There are other number screw ups as well which break the story. For example Raditz tells Goku that their homeworld was destroyed 3 years ago when it was destroyed 20 years ago from that point in the series. I've noticed across multiple anime that numbers seem to get mistranslated often.
To give context, 2.9 was an april fools jokes where they took a plot they discarted (and made into the Krillin's life insurance and girlfriend episode) in their abridged series and made a new episode out of it
You watching dbza and posting the movies as members only is literally the reason I became a member! I watch dbza annually as kind of a tradition of mine just because I love it so much and dbz was a huge part of my childhood (and honestly its easier than rewatching the show) and following you on your journey watching the greatest parody ever made was amazing! This was a real treat and I appreciate everything you do!

One of my favorite bits in these 😂 Also the running "the thing" gag in Kai 2, and the animation done for Cell "humiliating the royal bloodline." The reason these are breakneck for the most part is because the TFS guys have said they held back some of their nuttier jokes from the mainline show, and doing Kai Abridged--I mentioned before that DB Kai's a cut of DBZ with less filler, and Kai Abridged is applying that to DBZA--let them go hammier and see some of those jokes through; they're amazing.
Buu Bits is fine either next or last. Chromologically last, but not connected enough to be that big a deal.
Then DragonBall ShortZ, can be one video since they're fairly short and only 6 of them.
Then HFIL which you might want to do in 2 parts, unless you don't mind longer video. There are 11 of them (10 + Christmas special) and some of those go over 10 min. No copyright to worry about though.
The "Over 9000" meme is actually from well before DBZA, even. From the days of TH-cam's infancy. While TFS has created many memes, this was one they were just referencing.
The funny thing about that tutor in 2.9 is he was from an actual (filler) episode of the show, hired by Chi-Chi. She eventually kicked him out (literally threw him out the window), not because he was whipping Gohan, but because he badmouthed Goku.
I highly recommend Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. It was done by the same guys as DBZA, specifically KaiserNeko and Takahata 101. Several VAs from DBZA join in for Hellsing Ultimate Abridged.

Fun Fact: At 13:00 Porunga's actually saying something in reverse. He's saying "Fuck you I'm a Dragon." which is a reference to Lani's own Abridged Series, Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged.

Pausing to say a thing that doesn't matter five seconds later is just as prevalent in comments sections as it is in videos. I've done the same thing. Usually because I have a comment I want to leave, and don't want to wait until the end of the video because by then, I might forget to leave said comment.
Technically before Buu Bits is "Dragon Shortz" and "HFIL" if you want it in order. Dragon Shortz takes place before Buu Saga and HFIL takes place in...well...HFIL during the same time frame.
Sadly we never got any abridged content of Goku in Other World, but it was basically a tournament filler arc.

In the actual series, the shot Piccolo took from Freeza after the Spirit Bomb failed to kill him was a shot meant for Goku. Goku was too exhausted to get out of the way, so as the only other person there who could even see Freeza's blasts, Piccolo body checked him out of the way and took the hit. Luckily for Goku, Saiyans get something of a second wind whenever they first ascend to any level of Super Saiyan, otherwise his transformation would have come too late to be of any use to him.
That was a reference to Hellsing ultimate abridged that team four star also did. 23:10

The Buu bits wouldn't be the best thing to watch IMO unless you're familiar with the Buu saga itself, are you planning on watching it? It's basically the saga after Cell.
Yeah she watching the actual buu saga and THEN the buu bits would be the best option, especially 'coz she's gonna be so confused and asking things in each clip.. but i think the reason why she doesn't want to react to the actual dbz anime it's 'coz sbe probably doesn't want this channel to turn into an anime reaction channel or smth idk

So when they did Kai they rectified what they missed out on the first time round.

23:14 this alucard is from another anime called Hellsing ultimate. teamfourstar also did a abridged for it with Alucard being voiced by the same guy who voiced Cell. It’s way more vulgar and gory but a great laugh. Personally I’d recommend watching the series after you do the dragon shorts or Buu bits in whatever order

The over 9000 bit was around years before this was conceived. They just took the idea and threw it in the kai abridged because of respect for the meme at the time.
For how great the Kai episodes are, it's sometimes really hard to even laugh or react to the jokes. By time you've even managed to process one joke, three more have come and gone. It can definitely be a bit overwhelming.
As for Episode 2.9, that one is definitely different from the others. They basically took a filler arc that they originally skipped, and actually did a proper episode for it. Making it sort of the exact opposite of an actual Kai episode by taking something that they cut, and making it longer.

After the Buu bits, you should continue the Dragon ball story via the Buu saga of the original show.
Still lots of great moments and characters ahead.

The Kai is an abridging of the abridged.. so yeah. It is a good time to see how many callbacks you can remember.
Nobody ever is! TFS got the idea for these when DBZ Kai started airing, which was a re-release of DBZ but without the filler. Apparently, at first they didn't want to do these while fans asked if they would or not...and then they said, "...But what if we did?"
The result: an abridged abridged series, if you will. Each episode is one full season of DBZA, except for 3 and 3.5 (the android and Cell sagas respectively). 2.9 was an April Fools joke based off of that one Kingdom Hearts game. X3
3:45 This was TFS finally doing their version of the infamous "OVER 9000" meme, yes. They teased their audience TWICE with build-ups that had underwhelming conclusions before this.

12:24 Fun fact about that: When episode 29 dropped, some of the first comments on the video were people asking why Gohan didn't ask Piccolo why he didn't dodge, because it seemed like the exact joke TFS has always gone for. And according to their creator commentary, they read those comments and said, "...DAMMIT! WHY DIDN'T WE THINK OF THAT!?" So with this Kai Abridged episode, they righted the wrong and used the joke. :P

To be fair, the Red Ribbon Army was the main antagonist of...I think the second season of DragonBall? Could be wrong about the season, but they were one of the most well-known DragonBall antagonists out there, I think. And since Gero was a part of the Red Ribbon Army, it makes sense that he only watched DragonBall.

What Piccolo and Kami are talking about at 31:45 is the fact that some fans complained over DBZA using and in general dislike the original Japanese music. What they’re saying is that the majority of the reason hate on the Japanese score is because in the west (which is numerically the majority of people watching DBZ/DBZA) grew up with the western music and refuse to acknowledge anything else for no reason.
A large part of that was how expensive getting licensing for the Japanese music was, so they only got a few songs here and there. (Dragon Ball got hit by this too, which is why they added an absolute fuck ton of dialog to certain scenes where there was no dialog as they completely replaced the music and the scene didn't work right with the music they used so they filled up screen time with talking).
I seen Dbz since mid late 98 and seen DragonBall since 2001 when it was aired on Toonami

When you're done with all the TFS Dragon Ball Content, I recommend Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged from LittleKuriboh, who started the Abridged Trend. It also starts somewhat rough, but gets really good pretty soon after. Just saying (and probably not the only one who does that).

People live lives and have vastly different experiences than other people. It is what it is. Also you could just know someone who knows what it's like or tastes like without doing it yourself. I have a few friends who've done mushrooms and LSD and have at some point and have told me a bit of what it's like in conversations when the subject drifts to those topics.
I know it'd be a reaction series to a reaction series, but..the creator commentary videos on the dbza series was pretty good/worth the watch
