    I like the camera, and especially that you like it so much.
    I’ve had it myself since I bought it in 2000 or so.
    You may not be aware, it has an analogue digital converter built-in. I’ve been using it for my TRV-99 Hi8 tape conversions. It works great, I have the VX2000 fire wire connected to my computer so the camera just has to be on and you can choose from the menu to use the setting for AV to DV. The TVR is connected to the VX 2000 with an S-video cable plus the phono plugs for audio.
    I’m sure there’s lots of software, but I have Sony Vegas 11 Pro to capture the output, and then convert it to DV 720 30P on the timeline, which produces an MXF file from the AVI.
    I assume this is AV to digital is best quality because Sony made it, but I’m interested in the relative quality of the videos I am getting from it.
    Really cool that you are making use of this old Tech, and enjoying it.

    It did come with a lens cover for the original lens. It's actually more of a hood cover instead of a lens cover...it's square shaped and clips directly onto the opening of the hood.

      Yes, I've bought one afterwards. It makes the camera look much sicker imo

    Hey bro, when i convert the AVI files into mp4 theres a lot of glitches on the video and the sound goes out do you know of to fix it ? 😅

    • @MattiasWyatt
      @MattiasWyatt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you use VLC to convert them? - I also experience glitches here and there, but for some reason, when I airdrop the mp4 files to my iphone they go away. Then I just export them on Imovie on my phone and then airdrop them back to my mac. For some odd reason that solves the problem of glitches for me

    Recording with tapes wouldn’t be any harder since the camera is a built in vcr so u just playback the tapes on ur camera and record it to your digitnow irecord thing

    • @MattiasWyatt

      @@MattiasWyatt not really, it’s just the price of the tapes which is expensive but it’s 60-90mins of video and you can record over them apparently up to 20 times or so. The only thing is though the quality u get inst going to be any better than recording straight to digital

    • @MattiasWyatt
      @MattiasWyatt  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bigsim2950 Exactly. The tapes are the expensive part, so why not just take them out of the equation. If the quality were to be better by doing this then yeah, It would be worth it I would say.

    Using those composite video capture cards will make the quality even worse. Please record onto either a FireWire capture card or onto Mini DV tape and transfer via FireWire through an old computer.

    Hi .... I have the same camera what i bot in Japan , but the option r in Japanese and i don't know how to read Japanese . So i don't know to convert the video from my tapes to the memory stick what i can plug in . Did you ever try that ? I need to do this because my new computer have no fire link like the old one , and if i try audio video to usb may not be the same quality

      That is a good question. Have you tried using the google translate app perhaps? It allows you to take pictures of the words you want translated. Maybe it could help you figure out how to convert the tapes?

      I'm honstly not entirely sure what the exact name and model are. The guy I bought the camera off of already had it mounted, so I didn't really think twice about it. It shouldn't be that difficult to find other converters that work for the camera tho.

    1:14 I hate to break it to you, buuuut it looks like shit! I'm sorry, but it makes the camera's quality look much worse than it really is. I'm always a fan of Vx cameras, but I gotta be honest. However, I do understand why you're okay with that feature and want to experience what was a very legendary camera in skateboarding history though, and I respect it. I just hate when a device makes the camera look worse than it really is.

    • @MattiasWyatt
      @MattiasWyatt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey,
      Yeah, I'm aware of the quality not being as good as if I were to film with actual tapes. However, I really just prefer to not go through the massive headache that tapes can cause. Plus it's entirely free for me to film with. I can mess around with it as much as I want without having to worry about wasting expensive tapes.
      Obviously, it would be amazing to have better quality but I wouldn't go as far as saying it looks like shit, haha. In my opinion, It's perfectly fine for making amateur videos with the homies (:
