Yay!...thrilled with myself for recognizing Jack B.Yeats...brother to the wonderful poet William B.Yeats...what a talented family they were🤩
Love vintage Antiques Roadshow!
I agree. So much so that later in life, I’ve started making art just to feel connected. I adore the appraisers, but the Sandon’s are my favorites. :-)
I love Jack Yeats work.
Such a joy to hear the experts explaining about the various treasures shown here, and what is especially charming is the enthusiasm and reverence for something special when it comes their way.
Classic antiques roadshow - love it!
Don't cut away so quickly. We want to see the owners' reaction in full glory!
Can we go back in time to the pre-historic times when you could buy a personally inscribed first edition of the Hobbit from Tolkiens personal library in possession of his grandson for 3,5k?
I love these old episodes. Much better than the current series.
Thank you for posting more of these early series! 😍This absolutely made my day.
been watching this program since 1988
Same
You should probably take a break.
@@thesunreport not non stop of course, on and off since 88
@@CoolCoyote haha...that gave me a chuckle. 🤗
The Hobbit from his personal library. 50k all day today!
And the rest, I'm sure. Easily over 100k
in 2015, one of them got sold for £137,000, or about $210,500. It had a handwritten note by Tolkien in elvish.
I love how on the first one with the book full of art he's touching them with his hands not wearing gloves?
Yes , quite unprofessional and careless .
@@conscience-commenterwell I thought gloves were needed for books etc given skin oils and bacteria. But someone with training in that area took me to task. Said gloves cause damage as they make people clumsy. Who knows.
Indeed, gloves are abandoned these days as one could rip a page with them. Clean hands are better to get the feel of the paper.
Plus he just flips the pages while drawings skid around and loose their tissues.
The man with the Jack Yeats painting looks a lot like WB Yeats.
That first ladies lack of reaction 😂😂
well 161 paintings worth back then only a couple of hundred each he should have valued them at double what he did, no wonder she was disappointed, now they'd sell for several thousands each
they didn't say the name of the artist? @@spudspuddy
@@spudspuddy lol. all these yt experts
@@ThePianoreed the artist is Alfred Bastien
@@artful1967 Alfred Bastien paintings sell for thousands, do some research or shut up
I just love eccentric British people.
Antiques Professional: Lets take this painting out shall we?
5 minutes later: Here's your $50k painting back
5:16 Mrs. Doubtfire.
Brilliant 😂 Thanks for the laugh!!!
The clothing worn is the true story of these videos
It's not really though is it

Beautiful 💕💕💕💕💕💕❤️
10:10 the moment he said it was a minute repeater...
Yeah, that thing is worth 10x it's weight in gold.
Valuer- I don’t think it’s a lot of money. Me-it is if you haven’t got any😂
The lion on the embroidery cloth looks like Homer Simpson 😂
First woman was so excited!
Not
I’d love to see her win the lottery.🤣
young philip mould..nice❤
the Hobbit is a masterpiece book
fabulos
paintin wow very nice true of it age
People looked so old before there time back in the day lol
Yeah, most people worked for a living back then instead of sucking the welfare nipple and whining.
Nice picture
27:08 "My husband is J.R.R.'s grandson" ... "turning over to the front free end paper".
I assume there are thousands of grandsons of Tolkien around, seeing this seems of no matter at all. 😂
was it ever confirmed about the estimated value of that Yeats painting or was he just momentarily carried away with excitement going all overboard ?
OMG I LITERALLY CRINGED 😨 when the book guy DESPERATELY MISHANDLED THE BOOK 😭
... And a guest appearance by "Homer Simpson" himself... what more do you want?
✔️
Good Lord😂

Times have changed. The Brits are just as cash-oriented and SELF-rehearsed as the Americans, nowadays. And the objects are usually less interesting and more “collectible” now in both countries. Baseball cards and plastic purses. If it’s what you enjoy, 👍🏻.
that Yates horse and carriage painting looks like a five year old tried paint by numbers!
You really don’t know what you are talking about.
Your comment is about what you’d expect from someone with a mental age of about 8
You are being filmed, and she is being asked to talk. I would forgive her being nervous. However at 12-15 thousand pounds, l agree, at least blink!
The first woman was about as animated as a brick.
Not the US version. She hasn’t been ‘trained’ via gameshows to hyperreact to everything. She’s clearly nervous
I was surprised at how he was just handling them with his bare hands.
She’s British…
Life and soul of a party
😂
I love the show but to say it's live is wrong half these people would be lucky to be alive 😂
If you had read the description which states "Filmed in various locations between 1990-91." You would understand they don't mean "live" as in literally happening right now at this very moment. Live is in reference to the filmed footage the raw footage being used to make this video was filmed live on the day and has not been edited.
12:51 "You're joking"
Yes, I'm joking, it's worth 10p
Why do people say "are you joking"
For confirmation

What is your criteria for you to name these items-some of them very pedestrian really-"the greatest finds of the season"?. Ridiculous, really.😅😅😅
