As a serious answer, because most people I hear ask for this do so as a surface level homage.
Two counter arguments -
1. "Super Nintendo [insert name] " would've worked for every single direct successor system since 64 ("Super Nintendo GameCube, SN Wii, SN DS etc - instead of their actual successor names - Wii, Wii U, 3ds respectively) aside from arguably the Wii U in the form of a marketing upgrade, Nintendo didn't do it before - for a reason, Why now?
2. Think bigger picture, unlike most of Nintendo's other systems, the switch line has a chance to go beyond one direct successor. It could be the future of Nintendo for the next 3 or more generations. If they do Super switch, instead of something streamlined like numbering, what do they call the third, fourth, or fifth ones? Please don't say "Hyper" or "add subtitle like pro or plus" or even worse, "start numbering after you already missed your chance". At that point just look at the box art for that one version of Dead Rising 3's box art. Mind you, this argument also applies to basically all of their other system's naming conventions, which is why you find that none of them go beyond 2 generations of direct succession.
(Nes -> Snes -> ??? , 64 -> ??? , GC -> ???, Wii -> Wii U, -> ???, Gameboy -> GBA -> ???, DS -> 3DS -> ???)

Number one thing I want is a Steam like account system with cloud saves built in. No subscription.
I want to be able to pick up any switch i own ( i have 3 of them) and continue playing my game. No hassle

I want hall effect joy sticks, but they will never do it. Analogue triggers would be great as well.
I would appreciate if they were more sensible with CPU clocks when docked. I understand that to get good battery life you want to downclock a little, but in the dock let the chip go as hard as it can. You can get an oled switch to near on twice the CPU clocks after you bypass the security and up the cooling a little with a metal back panel.
Having some additional cooling solution built in the dock to allow something like that to happen would be nice
The cpu clock is the one thing that can't be different between modes since you can't make up for the difference in performance like you can with the gpu. A clock difference on the level we've seen for the switch's gpu but for the cpu could be the difference between a game running just about fine in docked mode but stuttering and never reaching its target framerate in handheld
@@pc_screen5478 i think they could do it but it'd only be useable on games capped at 30 that get unstable fps in the 40s-50s that they could up the clock to get them to 60/40 capped
Having different CPU clocks for handheld and docked is not a good idea. It can break the game logic. Better to have high CPU clocks from the beginning. It's all a balance.. If CPU clocks are raised to a certain point above what's expected, then the GPU clocks should be lowered to maintain a good power draw and prevent overheating.

Why not give the developers the option?
You need higher CPU clocks if for example a game is playable at 30fps in handheld mode and then in the dock you want a 60fps mode.
If the developers are allowed to, they will find a good balance for their games and we will all benefit.
GPU in the dock is something people have to let go.
Being able to resuspend 2-3 (at least two games) games is my most wanted software feature. The switch was the first console to bring suspension, and then we have the current gen doing it now. It would be a significant game changer from Nintendo to be able to two games on the fly, especially with a physical game or a long RPG and a shorter/play in bursts game. I'm surprised not many people are asking for this It's a must have. The Switch 2 should have the adequate CPU Speed and storage speed to accomplish this.
One thing not being discussed enough is the Switch'a relative lower specs helps keep game develop costs in check.
This right here..... Nintendo has almost put the reins on development/budget and I can totally understand why. Don't get me wrong but we've seen this can and would do to studios already in terms of movies and games. A great idea isn't always executed properly 100% of the time and when you have the finance groups coming in hot over predicting, etc. Studio's can close with one bomb. Nintendo on the other hand looks at it like it better be perfect and guarantee at least a million and even then, it's considered "luke warm" in terms of profit or so it seems of higher budget titles. There are so many additional resources available now days for developers to use, speed tree, all the different modeling programs, game engines, etc. It's all additional costs. Hiring artists that understand texturing let alone hoe to create all the various types of maps, and that's not even accounting for new age material generators which I don't even think most games even use yet (could be wrong unless it's like high end big budgets). It's no wonder why GTA has turned into a "once a generation" game, because the amount of time and resources that it takes to create and get it running is a feat in itself. I honestly feel that Ninte do has embraced the indie scene beautifully this last Gen or two and has every intention of patiently waiting to either scoop these studios up with more experience or just work deals out with them. The big studios are too expensive

I want backwards compatibility so i can bring my existing Switch games across and additional power on par with base PS4 at least (it's not feasible to expect 60fps out of it and that's never how Nintendo does things)
Idk about base PS4 if it's able to be as powerful as the Steam Deck at least I'll be fine with it. The Max I'm expecting is ROG Ally level performance.

I was impressed with the graphics of the PS4 in my short time that I had it, but overall the switch has impressed me way more than the PS4 or any PlayStation has in fact the switch has impressed me more than any other system.
Mentioning the 3DS, which came out years ago, why not a 3D oled screen ? How far has the technology come? That would really stand out!

This might sound dumb, but I really want the Switch 2 to act like a mini cloud server for up to 4 Switch 2's locally. Say you're playing Mario Kart or Smash Bros, and only one of you has the game. You can still play 4 player co-op by casting your game to other players in the local vicinity instantly using local cloud streaming. I think the 3DS had a similar concept, but I'd love that as a feature.
I don't think it's going to have the networking hardware to act as a server. I think what you're asking for instead is a form of download play, where one user can temporarily make the game data necessary for multiplayer available to download to another system's memory. That's what the DS and 3DS did. The issue is games are getting too large to transfer that data at a reasonable speed for "pick up and play" multiplayer. I know a version of this has been achieved with a multiplayer pacman game. Only one person needed the full game, and others could download the multiplayer for free on the eShop.
My dream feature would be for it to finally get revealed.
Comfortable controls WITH a proper D pad, backwards compatibility, 1080p 60 - 1440p 60 upscaling while docked, no borders on retro games, gamecube classics added to switch online. That would be a pretty good start. Make its looks honor super nintendo and I'll probably buy it day 1. Im not expecting all of this, but that would be my overall wish list for a proper Switch 2. And analog triggers. And for goodness sake allow me to make a system level regional swap between those action and cancel buttons without resorting to stupid silly remapping!!!
60fps is unrealistic, because it doesn't matter how strong is the console, some games will be too much for it be able to run at 60fps.
I don’t ask for much all I want is 1080p in handheld and induct mode just for it to be significantly more powerful than the current switch with oodles of RAM to spare so we can avoid the problems and issues that plague the current switch basically everything that we’ve been hearing about the next generation, which is what I want as well as backwards compatibility as I’ve got a huge catalogue of switch games maybe maybe not so huge to some as I’ve got over 60 games for my switch but I’d actually like to finish them on the next GEN switch it looks like backwards compatibility is all confirmed so far. All of my dream features are catered for as things stand.
Here’s my big wants from the Next Nintendo console what ever it’s called. My wishlist wil include controller and online features: 1.)can play Switch Cartridges and digital libraries,2.)Improved online MP connection or the same quality we have now for free,3.)party voice chat on the system itself so no phone needed,4.)a new switch pro styled controller with analog triggers,a headphone jack,and dual sense like features.5.)simplified adding friends system that is a vast improvement over friend codes.
How about apps for streaming video (Netflix, Disney+, MAX, etc)? What about themes aside from plain black and white?Maybe themes based on what games you've played or progress within those games? Controllers with hall-effect sticks? A design that doesn't need a third party "grip" in order to be playable in handheld mode? Oh, and reliable controllers that don't cost $80 (+ tax) per set. I forgot the most important thing... reasonably fast download speeds.
Want the dock to have ir sensor, nothings comes closer to a mouse as an ir sensor specially for hardcore fps
The only thing I want is excellent battery life and am happy for them to make whatever cuts are required as necessary to deliver that. How people tolerate the 45 minute - 1.5 hr battery life I see listed on some games on the PC handhelds is beyond me (I know it's not all handhelds and not all games)
Oh, and a Lite version as the Switch Litre is best Switch

Eye tracking tech has evolved so much that I really want to see this happen. It's on a few tablets already
Asus has an oled laptop display with glasses free 3d so the technology is definitely there, however it might be a question of price. It also seems as if Nintendo reduced software features to avoid the headaches of confused developers, social media moderation & increased workload before the release of the Nintendo Switch.
What I would wish for the switch successor is a simple upgrade to the Bluetooth stack to provide more convenience.
The Switch looses any Bluetooth connections whenever you put it into sleep, which is very annoying if you play with headphones for example while commuting and have to reconnect them every time you turned the screen off...

I would want them to focus more with online. My idea would be for them to include a 4G modem and when you buy a Nintendo Switch Online subscription (in select territories or whatever) it would enable the modem to allow for online play via cellular as long as your NSO (plus Expansion Pak?) is active. Maybe they could also throw a few dollars to the cell carriers to allow you to shop and download new game purchases (one time per game) on the go via 4G. Online gaming uses low data transmission rates and I am sure that Nintendo could cap it at 50 - 100 MB per hour and game companies could make that work. Of course, it would require Nintendo to reinvest in their lackluster online infrastructure.
Your phone is the online link and WiFi there is no need for SIM cards in a console at all

I want some WiiU feature back. The switch (handheld) could stream gameplay to the dock which is then shown on the TV. This would enable asynchronous multiplayer games like Nintendo Land again.

Yeah having dGPU on dock is kind of pointless, you will be selling 2 consoles in bundle, that will sky rocket the price out of the Switch pos.

Backwards compatible with oled switch
"Close" to PS4 level (99% that it will be at Xbox One's level or a bit below it) and gyro controls are my most important things. No 4K, no ray-tracing, no silly fantasy AI chips, no rumble, no 60fps, no VR or AR, just good games on 1080p and 30fps!

Full controller tracking like VR has. It will let them bring back pointer controls. Streaming to the dock to allow dual screen functionality to come back. Just like they can set themselves apart even more while not being as strong as PS5 and XSX.

@@Marston-dj3xm Yeah, a periferal for the Sega Genesis that made it 32-bit. It had its own exclusive library of games, but Sega barely supported it because it didn't really increase market share.
We can all dream of putting all the ps together.
Reality= good 1080p to probably 800p, handled LCD hdr with 12gb ram and sd cards still. Later oled hdr.
& dock will probably just boost the clock speeds/loading speeds and the resolution to 1440p max. But realistically, 1080p.
This is Nintendo and this is all most people care about. An enjoyable experience.
There is no way it doesn't support 4K while docked. Even if bigger games won't run at that, smaller games will use it. Same with 1080p in handheld.

Handheld is a better PS4 with DLSS and Ray Tracing, Docked is around PS4 Pro and it can do 4k.

Ps4 pro was upscaled 1440p really. Ps5 can't even do 4k. Mostly 1080p to 2k, then upscaled.

Just don't be disappointed if it ends up 720p to 1080p handled & 1080p to 1440p(2k), docked.
@@tomallen9804Realistically, Handheld will be 720p upscaled to 1080p, while Docked will be 1080p to 1440p. Ray Tracing will be tough to figure out as it's an RTX chip, not AMD.
My wishlist is for way more comfortable & bigger joycons and bigger & brighter display. Those are the main reasons why I play on a TV 95% of the time

I just want the flagship AAA stuff (like the next open world Zelda) to have a stable framerate even in the most chaotic action scenes.
I don't need 4k textures or ray tracing or whatever to enjoy a game. I know Nintendo doesn't pursue cutting edge graphics and that's fine. I loved BOTW and TOTK despite their simplistic visuals.
But I need the framerate to hold up in intense fights. I could feel every slowdown in TOTK when using Ultrahand machines against large groups of enemies and it took away from the fun.
Glad I mod my switch. I can play the game above 45fps and no framedrops.

Personally I want it to be called Nintendo VRtuo and focus on, well, VR obviously. It would come bundled with fancy VR glasses that would push into the competitive online space with voice activated messaging, on-screen overlays, being able manage all your achievements on the fly, motion tracking etc. There'd be a social aspect too where through a VR Nintendo Hub gamers can meet and plan gaming sessions or whatever really. Metroid Prime 4 would be the launch title where you'd collect different scanning visors or 'filters' for your VR glasses and other stuff to 'enhance' their functionality in-game. For Zelda you could reach out and grab things like fauna and physically drop them into a cauldron. I think it's a workable gimmick.
Well, quests 2 and 3 do VR really well. So the hardware for the Switch 2 shouldn't be an issue.

It's not going to happen and it would probably not work smoothly if it did, but Nintendo already has a patent for wirelessly connected devices to boost graphics power. Make the dock wireless and it gives a boost if you are near it

Backwards compatibility with boost mode for higher resolution and stable frame rates, better solution for connecting wireless headphones, OLED on release(even if it is more expensive), VRR screen up to 120hz(720p is fine), no more drift issues on joycons, more advanced joycons with new features, slightly redesign joycon for better handling in mobile mode…I think that is all 😂

@@Jun123 Absolutely! I make great money and have no issue splurging on something I’d truly enjoy! I’ve worked hard for over 20 years in my profession so I have no problem treating myself! On a side note the steamdeck oled is 650 and people buy that or they wouldn’t sell it so there is definitely a market for a premium Nintendo console! Especially people like me that grew up with Nintendo and have the cash to spend.
Nintendo can do no wrong in my eyes. They’ve always been my favorite company so the only thing I want from the next console is better graphics. If it’s slightly better than the PS4 then that’s cool I’m fine with that. If it’s close to the series S in graphics then I’m even more happier with that. I’m more of a fan of Nintendo franchises than the hardware itself.

I'd quite like the guts of the Switch 2 to be a removable unit. So you could slot it into a Switch style shell, slot it into a Switch Lite style shell, slot it into a 4k OLED Switch shell, attach it directly to the tv, attach it to a VR headset. Basically you'd have a Switch brain that could be swapped around multiple Switch bodies, depending on your preference.
I asked ChatGPT to invent Nintendo’s next console and the results were very amusing and there definitely was an AI element incorporated.
Knowing nintendo and what they've done with the previous successor consoles, the most that I will expect is Backwards Compatibility so we can play Tears of the Kingdom and other switch games at a stabler framerate. They have a history of making gangbuster games with an underpowered hardware so I don't see them delivering a powerful console that can stand with Series X/S or even PS5. But if they do though then thank you nintendo.
A Switch 2 Lite for proper handheld use. 8 inch screen is not needed for this.
Idc about high end specs. I've got a PC for that. What I do care about though is being able to play Tears of the Kingdom at 1080p 60fps (docked).

Alex is right. I would love an e-gpu in the dock. And it’s a perfect use case for the tech. Maybe a pro dock product that can allow enhanced resolutions/framerates.
The problem with that is you can't switch modes without reset, as the dock would a whole new gpu
If money was no object then I would want bigger storage 2tb, bigger and faster ram like 32gig ram, better resolution, longer battery life, basically everything the steam deck 2 is probably going to be in 2025/26
Steam deck 2 (if it even releases in 2025, which i heavily doubt), won't feature 32gb of ram, maybe 16gb of a more advanced ram like lpddr5x, steam deck follows more the console idea in that matter, they can't build anything too expensive, steam deck succeded cuz of that
Backwards compatibility with some sort of boost mode for the OG Switch games is the deal-breaker for me on whether I'll buy it ASAP or wait & see.
MEMS projector instead of the display (with a small adapted ALR screen for mobile use) and batteries based on metal-air or hydrogen so the hardware don't have to be scaled down so much. Both of them wouldn't be expensive if mass produced and properly developed, the MEMS projector is already almost here.
As we see all the time, just slapping a super fast GPU into the same machine doesn’t always produce great results. You just tend to end up with a bottleneck elsewhere while your super expensive GPU sits idle.
I don’t need 4K docked. I’m not even sure I need more than 720p handheld. Maybe 900p?
What I want from it is more texture and geometry detail. Better lighting and post-processing (please end the days of “cut AA” being the first move in a Nintendo port). I’d like VRR, or at least support for 40hz modes on 120hz screens. I’d like HDR. I’d like more games to have a stable framerate, and I’d like more games that hang out at or above 700p for handheld and 1080p for docked.
All of those together might not be attainable. But I’ll happily pay $500 if you can do them all. And I’ll pay $400 if you can do most of them. Definitely do all of those things before you bother going above 1440p.

I don't think it will flop. The Nintendo switch will be 7 years when the next one comes out. If they have backwards capabilities and they have controllers that doesn't have stick drift, then i think many will upgrade. People have waited a long time for this.
Sure, the industry is a bit different now. But if they play their cards right (like it actually seems like) then they will sell very good. Maybe not as good as the Nintendo switch, but still great

The 3 things I'd love the most
- Analog triggers on the joy cons and pro controller
- Give the tablet the ability to Screencast to the TV while displaying a supplementary screen on the tablet
- put the IR sensor on the front of both joy cons and put an IR sensor bar on top of the tablet itself
Give the Switch 2 the GameCube, Wii AND the Wii U control schemes

I am of the camp that hopes those patents about being able to stream what ever is on the Switch 2; to other phones or tablets, in a manner that allows those users to play the game with you; without having to have a Switch 2 or even a copy of the game (though I imagine an NSO account may be required), via local wireless use of an app. IT would be so much better to have this feature; rather than using joycons as a means of being able to play multiplater anywhere and even offline.
Would love for Nintendo to finally introduce achievements/trophies 😑 bring back dual screen gaming as well (not solely dual screen though)
Calling/texting, 5G, Web Browser, Pocket sized. Basically, replaces my iPhone. Had this with Vita 3G, just need a proper successor.

My feature list would be very short, just go to TSMC & Apple to buy down-binned A17 Pro (or future A18 Pro) with Apple IPs disabled or defective from manufacturing. About 2/3rd of the CPU and 80% of the current or next generation iPhone would be the ideal choice for Nintendo as to how far Apple leapfrog every other fabless ARM designs. Not to mention TSMC can still sell the SOCs with heavy defects in the NPU, or ISP die areas.
Me personally, i just want a 9 inch oled with small bezels and a larger battery. It already doesnt fit in your pocket, so make it beefier while minimizing the bezels.
Not even considering buying unless it has an OLED screen.

Dream feature being a windows release for all exclusives....
My wants:
1. OLED screen, should not be going back to LCD.
2. Backwards compat, if possible make older games also run at higher res/fps when on the new hardware.
3. Comfortable to hold
4. A major UI/Online UI overhaul. Give us profiles like steam we can customise, give it a proper console/community experience, being able to join 'party chat' and send messages from the device.
5. Additional back buttons like the steam deck that can be mapped.
6. Dont lock us out of the current Nintendo Switch Online library and then drip feed it back in.
Been saying, VRR upto 120hz oled 7" panel. The portable mode just needs to crush X1 and ps4 in everything and reaches close to XsS $299-399 based on how powerful they make it. Make a eGpu dock and none eGpu dockable sold separately 59.99base/399eGpu. Dock should be able to compete with XsX/ps5 done.
Been saying which ever brand does this wins! PC handheld are there and very close to achieving this, only draw back is PC inflation prices just cause they can!

Faster, much more ram. I honestly think if it could compete with the series S in terms of at least docked performance, it will be in far better shape starting out than the original switch was. Support for in game chat and messaging support for friends. Limit to one user name. Ditch the Nintendo App. Theme stuff doesn’t really matter to me although folders are definitely needed. I own nearly 600 switch games and I like to try to categorize them best I can. Better thumb stick, ditch the tiny circles on both joycon and do what works by using normal pad like layout. Maybe a couple added action buttons in the back. PLEASE!!!! Analogue triggers! Dedicated servers at the very least, for the main popular online titles Nintendo has on offer.
So much Nintendo can do here, but modernization is top of that list for me.
Docked performance at series s is wishful thinking tbh, I'd say I'll be a lot closer to last gen in terms of performance, tho maybe slightly better CPU than last gen
@@Naffacakes98 i think they could do it if they increase cpu clocks when docked and include another gpu in the dock but i mean at that point it's waht 400-500 dollars so whether the general public wants that or not idk
@@flufficornss It's not going to happen. Having higher CPU clocks in docked mode will not break parity with handheld mode. GPUs are easier to scale, while CPUs aren't. And it could break the game.
@@flufficornss nah, it doesn't work like that, switch still has to contend with thermal limits and the fact that zen 2 is much more powerful than the switch 2 cpu
