  • **Concerned about the viewing format ratio? Please find the original theatrical aspect ratio version here: • Buddy Ebsen - Dance Sc...
**Please note: This is just a clip from a personal (hobbyist) recording that I made years ago from a live television broadcast of a movie that I happen to like and so I uploaded the clip 'As Is' simply for others to enjoy, viewing format discrepancy and all.
Sorry for the format discrepancy and just know that if you are one who does not like this format for viewing, your voice HAS already been heard here as you can read in some of the comments below. Therefore, there is simply no need to belabor that point any longer as everyone is already fully aware. Thanks so much for your cooperation and thanks for watching!
    ************
Buddy Ebsen plays "Mush" Tracy in this clip you are watching from the 1936 MGM musical, "Born to Dance". Here he does an eccentric dance number as part of the huge dance finale in the picture called "Swingin' the Jinx Away".
    A 2011 TCM cable broadcast.
Celebrating film preservation++ and in honor of our troops.
    *************
++Please note: The "Celebrating film Preservation' comment above was referring to the TCM broadcast from years ago and has nothing to do with the word 'restoration' used as part of the name of this channel. It was simply included to describe the reason for TCM's original broadcast of this movie which was to highlight films that had been professionally preserved for future generations to enjoy. Clearly the preservation/restoration work I do on this channel only concerns legacy music recordings, not film, and should not be confused between the two.
    **************
For your enjoyment, here are a couple of TH-cam links to two other films from the same year(1936) that Mr. Ebsen appeared in and also performed dance routines:
    1. "Captain January", also from 1936 in a film number called, "At the Codfish Ball": • At The Codfish Ball - ... .
    2. "Banjo On My Knee". This time, the film has him singing and dancing with none other than Miss Barbara Stanwyck in a two song-and-dance sequence - the film's title, "Banjo On My Knee" and also to a number called, "Swanee": • Banjo On My Knee/Swane... .
    ******************************************

When I was a kid a met him at a 31 flavors with my dad. My dad said , let him be . He is just enjoying day off. I kept looking sideways at him ( i was 8 or so ). Before he left he came over in full Jeb Clampette character and said hello to our table then focused on me. I saw my dad and Jeb exchange smile and wink of an eye. I think Mr. Ebsin appreciated my dads attempt to give him his free time. He left with a " wellll dogggyyyy , I think i see granny," and left.

Ray Bolger was amazing and he did not dance in a specific style for Oz; if you watch some of his other work you can see that what you saw in Oz was just a sampling of what he was capable of. An extremely impressive dancer with an amazingly flexible body. Some abilities you have to be born with -- not learned.

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate you watching this classic video and making it one of our top classic movie videos we have posted on this channel. Friends a lot (and I mean A LOT!) has happened since we posted this. As some of you may know, The Vinyl Restoration Channel has now morphed into a professional audio post-production studio, LegacyVMP Studio. And there is so much work to do concerning our beloved and treasured legacy audio recordings. Let me explain.
Folks, are you aware that there exist many, many legacy artists that unfortunately, the digital age of music has NOT been so kind? For example, one of them is Pop/Country artist, B. J. Thomas. So my studio, LegacyVMP Studio, is on a mission to try and help do our part to change this kind of business climate within the legacy audio industry that we feel is long overdue. I think the time is right for studios like mine (and others!) to take what technology now affords us and turn it into something that can be very positive for the industry as a whole. Will you help us do that?
Here are some of our more recent restorations to help illustrate what I am talking about. I want to stress with these: 1.) the power of recent advances in audio restoration technology in particular to allow studios like mine to do what we do! 2.) I want you to hear just how far our sound has come (maturity-wise) since we began this channel in the fall of 2014. First, here is one from Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66 that you might recognize 🙂:th-cam.com/video/X7omaR4gS_A/w-d-xo.html. In addition, here is one or two (or three or four 🙂) from B. J. Thomas: (th-cam.com/video/RLjsKECP3lk/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/5yLgrE7-B-0/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/BFI8yBcX0qE/w-d-xo.html, and th-cam.com/video/ABPOzijuam4/w-d-xo.html). Thanks for listening!
We are now a professional studio, LegacyVMP Studio ( facebook.com/legacyvmpstudio) and we need your help spreading the word about what we do! Please visit our Business page and "Like/Follow Us". Thanks so much again and stay safe.

Fine work; it must be both rewarding & fascinating.
I've thousands of vinyl in my music collection. I'm an OTR trucker in OR loading today for Dallas, TX, so I can't check on if I have 3 or 4 B.J. Thomas albums. I saw him at a small San Diego club in the 70's. He put on a really fine "shew" as Ed would say.
I limit my subscribing to 3 (all history ones) or you'd be a definite choice. I try to stay off the radar AMAP...Sorry.

Buddy Ebsen had such a long nice career in showbiz. First time I've seen this video. I know he was supposed to be in The Wizard of Oz, but was allergic to the makeup as the Tin Man, he was also in a great Twilight Zone episode, starred in The Beverly Hillbillies of course and then he had success in another TV show as Barnaby Jones.
