    Its 100% a Northman knockoff but that’s not a bad thing the Northman is one of the best products on the market, were I see this falling short is the sharpening choil is a big no no on a combative tool and this one is ginormous, and the north man sheath design, having the clip that high above the kydex will absolutely create a situation where you will cut and slice your pocket open. Needs a shorty clip so the kydex is at least an inch above or at least parallel with fabric. The last thing I want is to appendix this and cut my pants waistline on a draw or re index, I really miss bladerigs all of his sheaths combat this. But as always Ivan great product overviews!
    Edit: just noticed this is the only knife they make with a choil and it’s the only combative knife they make, and 300$ for Aeb-L steel is gross. With the jimping sheath and product ethos completely identical to the Northman it’s unfortunate to see them go backwards and not further innovate on the design, I do really like the blade shape, peel ply g10 and wish the product was just better developed. With a few minor alterations this would make a phenomenal tool.

      OK first, why do you think fi ger choil is bad on a combative knife, second the finger choil isent that big, third aebl is a fine steel and what steels do you suggest? 3v? Magnacut?. Plus I don't see much resemblance between it in the northland and the clip is designed that way to be deeply concealed.

      @fisherblades หลายเดือนก่อน

      We're very open about our inspirations and influences. The Northman is a good knife and and excellent pocket-carry concept. We wanted a very different set of functional attributes in our knife (no dig on the Northman - a solid knife!) like deep-penetrating cutting potential. So that's what we did. Bill R's influence is obvious and we respect and admire what he does - but this is no knockoff knife...

      @@sethklikesguns you completely misunderstood everything I said. But that’s okay, if you really do want to learn about deep carry sheaths bladerigs sets the industry standard and is the father of all modern kydex he has great ig page to look at as far as deep carry, as well as ambi sheaths, most premium products are knockoffs of his design archetype. He unfortunately is now retired.
      As far as SHARPENING choils, you’ll have to reach out to a few makers or combative experts it’s tougher to teach that in a comment or share examples not really a link I can forward. Basically it’s a big no no. In a poorly done explanation It can cause the tool to catch and get stuck making it single use.
      As far as steel choice I’m not going to bother explaining but yes magnacut would definitely be a much better choice.
      I really do wish you the best these topics are something you clearly care about otherwise you wouldn’t have responded. And bladerigs is worth a look I wouldn’t have referred it otherwise.

      @@fisherbladestomato potato, but if you would consider making this without the sharpening choil and in magnacut I would buy two.

    Thank you for the video. Very cool knife to say the least. And I had a weird idea out of nowhere the other day for a customizable, durable, Pelican-style travel case with optional pack straps... Weird stuff that premonition was - must've been an insight for this video. Rock on.

    I'm kind of put off by the name of the knife. I can appreciate a manufacturer invoking a famous name if the knife is connected in some way to the namesake, like a modern take on something the famous name used. But this knife seems to have zero connection to any Beckwith, much less the famous one.

    Creative types, which I am sometimes one of, are troubled by people who have no respect for custom work.
    If you want a inexpensive but effective self defense implement, purchase a cheap quality harbor freight flat bladed screw you driver. 🫵🏻
