  • London has a lot of wonderful (and free) museums and galleries. This venue is about 8 or 9 miles outside of central London in Hendon. There are good public transport links from London (Thameslink and then then local buses to avoid a walk).
As you would expect this houses a large collection of aircraft from early (and quite flimsy wooden bi planes) to large bombers and fighter jets. And not all RAF (British) planes. There are a few German planes and some from other countries.
One of the most interesting exhibits was not an aircraft but the medal bar of Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring (see 2m 12s) which included the Iron Cross and Pour le Mérite (Blue Max) which he earned while serving as a fighter pilot in World War 1.
The museum is made up of a number of large hangers which house the planes. Thankfully for me it was a nice day but it may not be so nice during inclement weather to transition on the outdoor paths between hangers.
There is a lot to see and experience.
The backing track was developed from GarageBand Musical Loops - Pop Changes Layers 02 and 01, Small Lights, Summer Skies, Midnight Lounge Piano, Void Adrift, Moving on Electric Piano 01, Origin Story Piano, West Hollywood Arrival Piano and Morning Dew Piano.

There is reference to the Battle of Britain but (unfortunately) no dedicated exhibit to it. You'd think something so important in our history would be specifically featured.
