- This is a video of my initial reaction to This Is How Red Velvet Was Formed. I hope you all enjoyed watching the video for the first time as much as i did. Super dope concert, great rapping/ singing and a super clean performance from beginning to end. This was a 10 out of 10, highly recommend.

Yea so this video turned out to be a lot less insightful than I thought it’d be. I’ll probably watch another, hopefully better guide tomorrow. Does anyone know any good ones, I’ll just have to try and skip over any spoiler ish stuff

This is a really good guide that just came out last week so it will have the most up to date information (Some which is fairly important) It is quite long so you'd probably have to cut it up but it's also in chapters so if you feel like you'll be spoiled you can skip them. @@goodmorningcrystal i agree with this one.. this is quite detailed videos abt red velvet as a group and individuals.. if you want to split into half, the video itself did it perfectly. At first it talked abt red velvet as a group, and then about members individually.. you will learn a lot about them, including their variety shows, dramas, etc.. Highly recommended 💯
And also, even if it has spoilers, doesn't it mean you'll find a song that you're going to be excited to listen to? 😉

Carly zee's guide is the most detailed one thus far because she's a die hard luvie! You can upload highlights or watch on your on time and take a few notes and share in a video or community tab

Yes. They needed to train for years before debut as a group. Seulgi took the longest time on training. You will know once u watch the guide video.
4:17 What even hurtful is, all of these trainees are not guaranteed to be debuting. Because usually, an entertainment agency only choose several trainees to debuting a group

Yea I know, i might just have to skip past the mv’s and get to the meat of the guide videos. Like this one gave introductory insight into the members but that’s about it.

You think Seulgi 7 years is crazy? In Korea, they take the term "Trainee" very seriously.
Among the idols I know, Moon Sua from Billlie holds the record for the longest training period, 12 years. I don't know if she's the longest trainee in history, but 12 years is a ridiculous number...
She spent 10 years training at YG Entertainment with 3 others to debut as "Future 2NE1." (2NE1 is the name of another super famous group under YG Entertainment. They wanted to 'recreate' a new generation 2NE1 but failed, and the debut was canceled!)
I've already hinted like that, so I should end the story. So what are those 4 girls doing now?
1) Sua (Moon Su Ah) left YG after 10 YEARS to sign with Mystic Story Entertainment to train for another 2 years under the name Moon Sua, debuting with 6 other girls as Billlie. This group is not very popular and on top of that, she recently lost her brother Moon Bin who was also an idol in another group called ASTRO. (As if she didn't suffer enough...)
2) Sooah (Im Soo Ah) left YG after 9 YEARS, signed with Universal Music Korea in 2020 under the new stage name Youha, became a Solo artist, and is still active.
3) Seoyeon (Lee Seo Yeon) participated in the survival show where the top 9 would debut. She ranked 7th and debuted as Fromis_9. The sad thing is that just a few days ago, their contract with the company ended on December 31, 2024. The fate of the group is unknown. (Hopefully, it's okay; these girls have suffered enough!)
4) Lastly Seoyoung, she just disappeared... I have no information about her anymore!
So I respect some idols because they have incredible will power and seriously pursue their dreams! This is no joke, it's very harsh.
Yeri was planned to join from the beginning. Do to labor laws, they had to wait for her to turn 16 before officially joining.
This guide is a wonderful start. It shows the very basics. But, as you guessed, there is so much more to them.
Yeah, recent interview debunked that "fact" about Yeri. She was intended for another group, that group got disbanded and then was made to join Red Velvet.

Yeri was always supposed to be in Red Velvet. It's that right before RV was slated to debut, the South Korean Fair Trade Commission changed the labor laws forbidding trainees under the International age of 16 from working more than 35 hours a week.
This would have been extremely disruptive to a newly formed group as Idols sometimes have to work really long hours, especially where video shoots and travel time are involved.
So they waited until she was old enough.
If you look at the upload dates for Automatic and Ice Cream Cake, Yeri had turned 16 only about 9 days previous.
There is a great 2024 guide to Red Velvet, but it's about 90 minutes long. You've already watched their Killing Voice, so I was surprised with you saying you wanted to avoid spoilers.
