The Bike Show goes sight-seeing on Kawasaki's latest touring option; The Versys may not be the prettiest bike, but does it have other tricks up its sleeve?
People always say these bikes are ugly. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think they look awesome (so do the BMW enduro bikes. I like the KLR 650 too, which people always say is ugly). I have ridden in discomfort on "cool" bikes enough to appreciate what these standards are offering. I look at them and see vast possibilities, practicality, versatility, and performance - put another way - beauty. When I look at other bikes, I see back pain.
Few years later and I am looking at buying the older version because I don't like the looks of the new ones, go figure. I like the Dakar look and the old one at least has some of it.
Just got a 2014 2 weeks ago and I love it... It's my second bike so it's still a bit heavy and high for my skills as a non experimented rider. But didn't regret at all the move from an sv650 (like it too) the comfort (girlfriend love it too), the engine, and the look (yes I like it).
Got the 2012 Versys 1000 Looks a bit unusual but everything else makes up for it . Engine is faultless , comfort is superb , two up no problem and has loads of mid range torque , only gripe for me is it has no gear indicator , not a major issue though. As said in the video buy with confidence, you'll love it !!!!!
Yeah, I know, but over here in South Africa everyone seems to have ended up calling it the Versees. We set the piece up like that so we could address the issue in our studio section of the show, which we don't show here. So yes, you're right, and we informed our viewers of that fact, and why it should be pronounced like 'sis', and not 'sees'.
I love my versys 1000, yes she has a funny face, and at first I got ribbed by some pals from racing for buying it. But its so comfortable, a topbox(I really got the pisstake for having a box!) for junk instead of a backpack big enough to see over cars fast but benign looking so the plod ignore it etc etc...
We're talking road tourers here not one that can do both. the Versys is great on the road, not so hot off it. Why even mention the KTM when it's not even a competitor? Triumph Tiger is it's main rival
Roger Consolação Yes. It's tuned to deliver it's power at lower RPMs for carrying a passenger and a bunch of cargo. So it feels a bit more like a jeep than a road racer. But it still hauls ass.

I agree.

I have 2008 Versys and love it.
I second, I'd like to see the new versys.

You can do some off-roading on it..these guys narrate like it's a movie of some sort. It can do almost anything you want.
Nice review! I could not agree more after riding a rented V1000 in the Alps for one day.
Anyone see that guys spinning around on the side of the road at 3:28 lol

They said that they have the same "ingredients".. i guess it's pretty much the same thing.. but their reviews are the best on youtube, always awesome
Me gusta más esta versión que la actual del 2020
Great presentation. Kudos.
Great review again.
I'm riding a 1000 versys and your report is spot on, good onya:))

Nice color
i'm planning on getting the 650 this yearm such a great bike!
Versys 1000 or Z 1000?? (no need to debate, just pick your favorite)
versees? How do you pronounce system mate?
did you pay something to the guy at 3:27?
A hooning machine ! Fun and comfort......
looks like it was built by LEGO FUGLEY!!!! does look comfortable for a big trip though
the price really competitive/reasonable.
Im surprised he didn't mention that it has the same engine as the Z1000 and the SX.
Test the new one please
The new version looks much better, in my opinion.

Hahahaha.. does anyone noticed how the boy react when he passed him on 3:27... hahaha...
Is it true, that this bike has the same engine as the Z1000?!

The only thing it's missing is cruise control.
This is probably the only 4 cylinder bike I could stand to ride. Can't stand riding a " crotch rocket" so I've never been able to enjoy a sporty bike.
Helps if you actually say the year...
Except the price lol, the Versys is thousands cheaper, a better buy in these cash tight times
👏👏👏👏👏
It honestly annoyed me the way he keeps pronouncing the name wrong. Especially since he acknowledged the correct pronunciation.
I'll stick with my 650
Fantastic review compared to some other garbage TH-cam channels **ahem**MCN**cough**cough**. Well done.
Great review! But why someone would move TO South Africa, is beyond me. It's like an American moving to Mexico.
...obviously dont get out much!??
Vibey over 6000rpm no electronic gear display clunky forks Shame
650 liğim daha estetik
Verse Ease.. sounds like sore bum cream
South african accent can be awkward alright ta!
A hooning machine ! Fun and comfort......
