    Thank you again, Michael, the painting came to life with the sky and contrasts. . I'd like to ask you one question about simplifying a complex street scene, which is a problem that has always given me a lot of stress and uncertainty. How exactly do you select what should be included and what left out? There is SO much visual information in a street scene, especially this one. Thank you.

    • @watercoloronlinemsolovyev
      @watercoloronlinemsolovyev  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Barbara, that is the biggest question the artist has in front of him, and there is no precise or right answer to it! You choose what you think will help you express the atmosphere of the place :)

    Simplification and light concentration. Beautiful rendering.
    How do you decide what to amplify? And how do you decide what to simplify?

    • @watercoloronlinemsolovyev
      @watercoloronlinemsolovyev  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, Darnelle, I decide arbitrarily which details matter to express the atmosphere of the painting and which ones - not so much :) That is the main job of the artist - to learn to make choices!

    Dear Michael, I wonder if you are going to visit Russia ( in your Travel By Art ). Due to the Corona I haven't been there last year and I miss it a lot! Maybe you can pick some nice picture ( something typical) from Russia and paint it for us (and with us!)? I hope you don't mind me asking 🙈

    How do you know that How will a color react and how it will be looking after it dries? and how do you pick up colors to match it with the reference image? A student and follower of yours

    • @watercoloronlinemsolovyev
      @watercoloronlinemsolovyev  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Antareep,
      All the colors behave a bit differently after drying. Mostly it has to do with granulation, because all the colors lighten in almost the same way. It all happens because most of the pigment goes inside the paper. Unfortunately, the only way to predict it is solely your experience. So the more you use your favorite colors, the more you understand their behavior after they dry. Besides, all the work with watercolor is built around guessing what will happen after some time. And that is the most interesting part of the game!
