- Piano accompaniment of "He shall feed his flock", one of the solo arias from Oratorio Messiah HWV56 by George Frideric Händel (1685-1759). The librettist was Charles Jennens (1700-1773). This aria is from Part 1, number 20. It is the alternative version for soprano only. The usual version is for alto and soprano. The text is from both the Bible, from both Old Testament (Isaiah 40: 11) and New Testament (Matthew 11: 28-29).

Dear friend, I do not agree with the title you gave to your playing. That is, it's much better than a KARAOKE! If I put my mind to it, I could sing along with this accompaniment!

Are you playing this in the soprano setting? The usual version starts with an alto solo that is in F major and then goes on in the second half to the soprano solo that goes up a fourth to Bb major. I have the feeling you play it in Bb all through. Is this correct?

Ok then at least I'm not going insane! The usual modern setting of this aria is that the piece starts in F major (a fourth lower) and stays that way until the alto ends with "And gently leads those that are with young". Then the setting goes to Bb major and the soprano takes over with "come to Him all ye that labour". There is a lot of confusion which setting is original. The two variants are an all alto setting in F, and an all soprano setting in Bb that you recorded. i would dearly love to have the whole thing in F. I have not been able to find sheet music for that version though. What I find is the alto/soprano duet, as in this piano reduction on IMSLP: javanese.imslp.info/files/imglnks/usimg/7/7c/IMSLP147713-PMLP22568-Handel_-_Messiah_-_He_shall_feed_his_flock_VS.pdf . I think the alto version is just the same but with the second part not transposed to Bb. If you're up to it, it'd be great to have both versions, the standard alto/soprano duet and the alto version in addition to what you already have. Thanks so much for providing this service. Helllooooo... it’s Christmas season 2017, I’m a mezzo and must do this piece for a 10 member church in a very isolated area of my state. Is there any way you can TRY to record the alto range early part of the piece that starts lower and in F, so I can bring your beautiful playing to a very needy parish AND give you full credit for accompanying the soprano and I who’d like to offer this piece?
