Some of the greatest resort powder days I've had in my life happened late season Whistler 2024... People seem to forget that it eventually turned around and got good! Awesome content, the wife and I love your channel. Cheers!
Pretty crazy video!! im still jealous but east coast is finally getting lot of snow! Our turn is coming… if Whistler Blackomb continues like that it will be the best winter in years
One of the most legendary weekends ever. With the sea to sky blocked on sunday morning i was able to cruise empty roads to the parking lot, get one of the first chairs up 7th and the powder was SO SO GOOD! Compare that to this weekend... its all been nuked by the rain, some of the worst conditions I've ever seen 😂 (rain in alpine, sticky snow, fog and whiteout). The FL dropping should give us some fresh laps for xmas though! Peak chair looked 😮
Comparing year to year is futile. Just be an all weather rider and enjoy life! I found 1993-1994 winter interesting, 80cm base until late Feb. I learned the dreaded bump skiing. Then the storm cycles moved in and never left. The season ended with over 300cm!! The biggest complaint was Green Acres trees which post season, were cut flush with the earth! Great Videos! I enjoy watching on my rest days, and naming the runs! well done!
It was full on raining in the alpine yesterday so it all got nuked. But you might get in just in time for some fresh stuff to cover things up as theres a really good base still. 🤞
@riseandalpine The typical Wet Coast cement. I used to love Whistler, but it's become too crowded. My latest pet peeve is the rich American tourists who hire a ski instructor for the day, just so they can jump the long lift lines.

One big difference between Interior BC and West Coast BC skiing is you can hear the snow. Revy was quiet while you could hear the crust in Whistler. Man you had some Powderific moments… we rarely get days like that in Europe ⛷

I totally mis-read your comment. I read: That was a crazy line, up at Peak chair! What you actually wrote: That was a crazy line-up, at Peak chair! haha...
@riseandalpine My last season at Whistler with my first seasons pass there in a decade, and I was so disappointed. The accommodations are out of the world, and the number of rude Americans is unbelievable. I had one adolescent smash the safety bar on my knee, leaving me unable to ski for 3 weeks, and when I yelled at them, their father threatened me (and he was a big boy, 6'6" and about 280). That was my last day at Whistler, possibly for ever. I skied Whistler in 1968, and it was fantastic. In fact, it was great until the 2010 Olympics, which ruined Whistler. Most of the ski bums who used to live at Whistler have moved to Revi. Any trip I make off the Island will be to the Interior, not Whistler.
@AlexMason-qp1cp Whistler used to be the best mountain in Canada, but it's so crowded, you spend more time in lift lines than skiing. I was so disappointed last year, I didn't get a seasons pass, or even the 10 day Edge card I usually get.
@AlexMason-qp1cp Between the long lift lines, crowded slopes with skiers frequently running into you because of the crowds. And ridiculously expensive accommodations has turned Whistler into a nightmare.
Plus our Canadian dollar fell below .70 to the US greenback. It makes it oh so expensive to travel in the states. Canada is an awesome deal to our US visitors.
I love waking up going to TH-cam and seeing you posted. amazing video. I cant wait to g to revy, I got new skis and im skiing here Monday to try them out(amazing video)
Love it. I just rode the Tamarack chair up Castle for the first time this year on Thursday, and I had my new Prodigy 3's on for the first time...Butter chicken, and Biryani...Those pockets were like whipped butter cream icing on the cupcakes...40 fresh cms over the last few days before I skied.
Love Whistler, but those lines are why I only make it up there once a year at most now. If you have a seasons pass you probably don't 'mind' the lines as much, but when I'm going with my boys and spending about $500-600 for 3 lift tickets, i just can't justify the price knowing that I might only get 6 or 7 runs in. And in the holidays it's $800+ for those 3 tickets. With my entire family I'm $1200+
I bet after skiing the Interior with no crowds, you're reevaluating your assessment of Whistler/Blackcomb James? My last season there finished me as far as Whistler is concerned. The lineups, even during midweek, are insane. On a powder day last year, I spent 90 minutes waiting for a gondola up Blackcomb (in the pouring rain, so I was soaked before the day even began), and then 30-45 minute waits for every chair, all day long. And it was a weekday, not the weekend. Although Whistler has probably some of the best skiing in North America, it's too crowded to be a practical place to ski anymore.
My latest Whistler/Blackcomb peeve is rich tourists who hire a ski instructor for the entire day just so they can jump lift lines. It's frustrating to wait 45 minutes in a line when you see some hack go right to the front of the line 2 or 3 times while you wait for one single chair ride up.
Yeah, if that's a thing, tack on 30+ minute lift lines, tack on a car payment for a day lift, and you're gonna be mumbling obscenities to yourself. Might as well spend the time you would have in a lift line, and the cash on tickets, and fly to Japow...I've never been either place, needless to say.
@riseandalpine Especially the ski club and all day instructors. I can understand if you only have an hour or 2 lesson, you don't want to spend the whole time in a lift lines. It's the all day long instructor priority I question.
Even in spite of the warm temps, Fernie's over 300 cm Castle's over 200 cm, and coverage in the alpine is butter sauce. Can't wait for the next fat dumpage, and the holiday crowds to disperse.
@riseandalpine You must have been raised watching Jaws. Because those shark fields you're so fond of are always just under the surface, waiting to drag you down? Too bad that's where the only powder left at Whistler an hour after opening. As far as Mount Washington goes, the only place you're really going to want to ski is the Boomerang/Outback, which is supposed to be opening soon according to the staff I rode a chair with yesterday. It's rated double black diamond, but it would barely be a single black at Whistler. It's 400 acres of absolutely no groomed runs. Lots of trees. My favorite place on the mountain because the entrance is a bit difficult, so it keeps the majority of the hacks out. Hope to see you back there this winter and try some hot sauce.

Man the fomo is real... I broke my leg AGAIN on Wednesday (same leg, different place). Totally ordinary too, don't even get a cool story, just an uninspiring fall inbounds in exactly the wrong way Not allowed to put weight on it for 6 weeks so of course it starts nuking snow for a week straight as soon as I can't ski. You'd better be skiing twice as much for me now! And hopefully I can get back on my skis before the pow turns to corn 🤞 (Also yeah peak chair was the play these last few storms, I waited in some long lines for it, but few things feel as great as ripping fresh tracks down shale slope... 1000% worth it every time.
