On a freezing and unforgiving November night, when 123 Indian soldiers faced impossible odds against 3000 well-armed Chinese, killed 1300 of them, under the leadership of Major Shaitan Singh, and fought to the last man. It became a benchmark of what Indian soldiers were capable of. Only 6 of our brave soldiers survived.
The Battle of Rezang La on 18 November 1962 is permanent in our memories as one of the saddest chapters of our independent history.
