Nice tutorial, Robbie!😃 Hopefully, you'll have even more folks growing delish, healthy lettuce.👍 It's so cute to see Zoe trying to hang with her bigger siblings.😄
Have kept an empty milk carton, thinking of growing something in it because I saw you doing that! Have kept it for a while now. Picked it up couple times to throw it away - then hung on to it instead. Now ... problem solved. Inspiration came! Lettuce! I'll grow lettuce! Genius!! Thanks Robbie! I have a 2nd milk carton that just got emptied. Wondered what to do with it since I had not yet used the 1st one. Now, I'm keeping it of course. I need more lettuce! Thanks Robbie!!
Great tips ! I don't look @ it as being a lazy way , but a very smart way of collecting & sowing the seeds . I know you are paying your very special helper ~ Little Miss Zoe with plenty of treats & hugs
Thanks for sharing this. My husband and I have been watching lots of your TH-cam videos. So thankful we found you And Gary channel. We are spoiled to your calmness , thrifty help and oh the lovely hummingbirds and how to make DIYs Extra thanks from hot 🥵 month of April in Florida. Trying to grow 10 beds this year.
I really enjoy your videos!! I have been wanting to try lettuce. Can you plant the whole bottom of lettuce in the same manner?? What was the cat litter for and what type?? Can your do cabbage that way
Those bowls you were using, I really like them. I have a bunch of them. Except they are not recyclable, mine have no code on the bottom. Sometimes the things that are available at the dollar store are not always the best idea. I hold on to my bowls until they literally fall apart before disposing of them. Next time I'm going to be more observent about recycling the containers. Great advice on your video. Thanks for sharing.
it started with a Burpee seed commercial and I thought those were your squash, Robbie LOL Got a free tote today!!! The handles are cracked but the tote is fine - already filled it with trimmings, now I need a chair :)
Hi Robbie, I’ve been waiting on this video. I had some volunteer romaine lettuce, I plan to transfer it into a dish pan so that I can move it into the shade as needed. Thanks for your suggestions and help 😎👍
What an excellent tutorial! Last year was my first year to grow Romaine lettuce, and I followed your instructions from a previous video, and I had complete success. Mine this year is about 5 inches tall now. I plant mine in my empty tall folgers coffee cans. Thank you for being an excellent teacher. ❤😊😊❤
Marvelous way to mix up your soil. What a neat way to add microbes and compostable nutrients a la Robbie’s Way. Just cut them up and add the kitty litter for moisture. Maybe a little shredded paper from a cross-cut machine as I have. I’ve taken your methods to heart and just finished planting my 20 gal tub orchard of 12 bare root fruit trees. Now I’ll use your lettuce method on small pots. Holes up at least 1” is ingenious and just saved a plant I’d forgotten to water in our now 70’ day SoCal heat. And so beneficial for overwatering as well. You’re ingenuity is amazing and enthusiasm addicting. So glad you’re sharing!!! MaryAnne in Ramona 🥰
Totally off topic , but I couldn't wait I found a use for the old Domino's pizza icing dipping cups . They work like the empty k cups on the hummingbird fountains
You said you got your kitty litter at Walmart. Does it say on the back not recommended for the garden. If it say natural clay unscented is it ok to use anyway?
I grew lovely lettuce for the first time last summer, but had a terrible problem with aphids! Have you ever had aphids? if so, what did you do to get rid of them? Thanks for another great video!
I have had them, and I blasted them with water while watering my plants. It took a couple of days, but it got rid of them. I learned from one of Robbies videos, so she gets the credit lol.
I saw yr comment and hve a suggestion. If you hve d space just get a tent frame and cover with shade cloth so you can put your lettuce on a stand under it. Dat shud help.
I also live in Georgia.. I had lettuce all of March, April and May..until now in late May, it is bolting..so humid and hot here.. Also grows great in the fall and early winter..
Hi Robbie and 🐾Zoe🐾, even though the temperatures are staying in the low 90’s I am going to try and grow lettuce using your tips and ideas. I purchased Little Gem (Lactuca sativa) lettuce because it’s supposed to have superb heat tolerance. Fingers crossed. 🌵🐝✨😘🐰🐣🐣🐣💖
Robbie I know this ain’t plants, but did you use a primer before your stain on your deck. Mine supposed to have the primer in with the stain and it keeps peeling and coming off. It’s awful and a lot of work for nothing. Yours looks so good. Thanks.
This has nothing to do with lettuce but i planted onions in a container that my potatoes grew in last year. Apparently I must have missed some because there are potatoes growing in the container with the onions. I'm surprised they wintered over in the area that I live in in Pennsylvania. I'm leaving them grow. I guess they should be okay. I never had that happen before. Do you think they will be all right?
Just bought the kitty litter you suggested, starting seeds. My ? Is can it be mixed with jiffy starting mix and how much ratio when using cell trays. Thanks in advance if you reply knowing u use other great method. Keep giving us ideas❤
Love you little Yorkie helper!!
Me Too 😊 Thanks ❤
Hope you have a Happy Mother’s day Robbie ❤❤ bc

I've never tried to grow Romaine lettuce. I now have some seeds so it's about time.
I can’t wait for my lettuce. Love it straight out of the garden!
Me too 😊 Happy Gardening

So glad to see this! I'm in FL zone 9a and I'm trying my hardest to keep lettuce growing... in the shade :-)

Robby! I see a hummingbird on my feeder! I'm in northern Minnesota!! Yippy!!
Hello Robbie and Zoey
Hi Debbie
Marvelous way to mix up your soil. What a neat way to add microbes and compostable nutrients a la Robbie’s Way.

Thank you Robbie so much, hopefully I will be able to grow better lettuce 🥰🥰
Totally off topic , but I couldn't wait I found a use for the old Domino's pizza icing dipping cups . They work like the empty k cups on the hummingbird fountains
thats hot
Hi Robbie!
Hi Jackie ❤
I got my blue and white pump today. Anxious to get power bank charged and put it outside.
I’m in south Florida and I only had luck during the Winter, which is like Spring for us if we’re are lucky. Lol
You can grow it inside.
You said you got your kitty litter at Walmart. Does it say on the back not recommended for the garden. If it say natural clay unscented is it ok to use anyway?
Hello miss Robbie thank you for this video I want to start a garden like your garden in totes can I grow tomatoes and peppers and squash

@@jwater63 I will try that. Thank you!
@@imperfectvegan5724 You're welcome 😊
I have not had good luck with lettuce.... it's so hot in NW GEORGIA.... I'm going to try again. Thanks for all the info!! ❤❤❤❤
When it gets hot, keep it in the shade, a little morning sun would be okay 😊 Good luck ❤ Thanks
I live in ga. The best time to grow lettuce is in the winter. But I won’t give up , I planted seeds last week. Wish me luck

We live in Vegas and I cover with a white sheet. Beautiful lettuce. I spray the sheet with water a couple times a day.

Will Romain bolt in the high heat ? It gets very hot in S/W Missouri

Do the leaves off of the bolted lettuce taste any different than the regular lettuce? Thanks for this video!
They would taste bitter.
@@virginiaomalley Thanks, it was something I hadn't considered before and was curious. :)

Do you feed your lettuce?
First comment from Sharu
Hi Sharu ❤
Most lettuce doesn’t like Texas heat and stress brings the bugs. 😢
PS, i
I reuse all my large, deep, takeout coffee cups
Oh my gosh! If I handled seedlings like that, they would die. I'm terrible with transplants.
What about washing it
Robbie, I am a murderer. I don't know what I'm doing but my mint keeps dying on me. Help! Also, how often should I water my dragon fruit?
My lettuce bolts every time 🥹 I will try again and make sure it is has water at all times! It’s been hit in SoCal
