We bought the SHPE2000 a few years ago. It has some major design flaws that make it very frustrating to use. 1. The Auger is too small and it tunnels if there's even a hint of moisture in the salt. 2. the auger and trough at the bottom only run half the length of the hopper so all of the salt that sits above auger is used first, once that material is gone all that's left is the material that is sitting on the bottom cab side of the hopper and the angle of the bottom of the hopper isn't steep enough to get that material down and into the trough where the auger is. This slows you WAY down as your material flow is restricted to an almost unusable rate (also only the bottom side of the auger is pulling salt to the chute at this point which slows it even more). 3. The design of the hopper also annoys the guys that have to load the hopper because the cab side of the hopper is MUCH shallower than the spinner side so the material always piles up there and unevenly fills the hopper. The front overflows and the rear is only half full. 4. This one is Two Fold... Because of the above issues the vibrator pretty much has to be on 100% of the time you are trying to lay down material (auger too small, poor hopper design, trough not long enough) and even then the vibrator isn't enough to move the material if there's even a little bit of moisture in it. We have to get out, remove the tarp and grate and then shovel that material back over the trough and auger. ALSO: The bolts that hold the vibrator are welded to a plate on the inside of the unit and these bolts will often break where they are welded or at the head of the bolt so we keep several of the assembly's on hand for when this happens (usually once or twice a season). 5. The way the salt falls down the chute causes a VERY uneven spread pattern unless you install a guide they send you after you call and tell them you have the issue, but even then, the guide has to be re adjusted constantly. If the salt fell directly above the center of the spinner it would spread evenly every time (I know this because other salters we own that are designed properly and work without the headaches). That being said, I'm sure the folks at Buyers know all this, but it's also priced lower than most other salters so I guess you get what you pay for. I don't own the PRO series but based on the video it looks to be the much better option, especially if you go with the chain. In our experience the SHPE2000 is ALMOST unusable if you are depending on it for your business, and who buys a 2 yard salter if it's not for business use? I would venture to say not many folks...
@@lockdiesel8108 Fisher Polycaster and Smith. We won't go for an auger spreader again, not even the PRO2000. The PRO2000CH seems like it would work as good as the Polycaster or smith as long as the material falls over the spinner properly. Yeah the SHPE is cheaper but you're just giving your money away because you'll end up buying a chain drive spreader once you experience the SHPE.
Just purchased our second Pro 2000. Absolutely love them. You cannot beat that value!
is their a dump/empty button like on the boss or is it only from the cab ?
@@ryanknott1018 At this time, I would say there is only in Cab. For the price difference, this feature wouldn't sway my decision.
I have a 1yrd Snowdogg sander and vplow that is Snowdogg i like it very much
We're happy to hear you're enjoying your SnowDogg!

Great info. Thank you.
What other spreader are you speaking of that you prefer?
@@lockdiesel8108 he's probably referring to chain driven or other proven salter designs.

I wish I would have gotten the Pro. Rocks in bulk, pre treated salt constantly jam the auger
