Grandeur Nature - Camargue a passion - Documentary Animal

A walk in a region of France in the company of a naturalist and two teenagers, to discover the natural environments of the four corners of the world through various reports.
The Camargue is home to an exceptional living heritage and is home to many animal and plant species.
The region is a migratory stop for ducks and waterbirds: there are 150,000 individuals in transit each year. Many ducks winter especially on the pond of Vaccarès. In summer, there are up to 30,000 pink flamingos: the Camargue is the only annual breeding ground in Europe for this animal. An island has been developed for its reproduction on the pond of Fangassier.
The Camargue shelters the pond water, a freshwater turtle that lives in the marshes and canals, and the nutria, introduced in the nineteenth century.
The Camargue is also known for its mosquitoes: there are 40 species.
Finally, the particular climate and environment see the development of adapted plants, such as salicornia and saladella, which have the particularity of growing in salty environment, as well as the lily of the sands that bloom in the dunes10.

Il semble que l'introduction de la riziculture en Camargue ait été inspirée par la riziculture de l'Algérie pré-coloniale (notamment dans l'oued El-Mina, centre-Ouest), dont le célèbre drogman et diplomate français Jean-Michel de Venture de Paradis (Marseille, 1739 - Saint-Jean d'Acres, Palestine, 1799) avait lui-même parlé ses papiers ("Tunis et Alger au XVIIIe siècle"). Le grand colon Borgeaud et la Société Genevoise qui avait racheté après sa faillite la Trappe de Staouéli (Alger-Sahel), tenteront également non sans quelques succès assez prometteurs de développer la riziculture dans la Mitidja occidentale... Marc Cote, géographe et historien passionné de l'Algérie, a, par ailleurs décrit les rizières de l'Algérie indépendante de la régions de l'oued Mina (Guide d’Algérie : Paysages et Patrimoine, éditions Médias-Plus, Constantine, nouvelle éd., 2006)...
