Sasha has yet to play against the AB's in a Springbok jersey, which is precisely why it is a good idea to gamble with him to start. The AB's have so many contingencies to contend with, why not another one to mess with their minds?

Precisely. And while the Aussies were crap, the rain in Perth was ridiculous but good experience for the RWC2027 just in case it pees down then. Rassie did the right thing to have a stupendous bench ready to take over in the second half to tidy things up but give the youngsters some fantastic field time before that. Rugby geniuses don't come along that often, but don't try and tell the dour Pretoria experts that. Rassie knows what he's doing.

Another thing that you guys forget is that there is practically zero chance that Pollard will play in the next World Cup as he would probably be too old but if Rassie wants to get him to the next World Cup, then playing him off the bench and giving him less game time is better to protect him over the next four years, that’s also the reason I believe it’s better to play the youngsters more, it would be great to beat the AllBlacks, but it’s not that relevant at this stage, bloody them against the best teams in the world and when it comes to the World Cup they would be so much better prepared for that stage , where I believe our main threat would be the AllBlacks again 😀

@@user-qe1tv1bu2f I know that Heyneke blindly followed experience over form, chose JdV instead of Damian de Allende, and lost to Japan. Not Jean's fault, but still, the experience did not help us. And what did Heyneke do then? He blamed his most experienced players for not following the game plan.
If experience counts for so much, why did we all shout for Pollard to be included in place of Morne or Frans? Why are so many people so eager to get rid of Willie? Why are / were so happy to see Kurt Lee or Canaan or Grant or Andre or any of the new caps?
There has to be a fine balance between experience and form and if experience is stale then form 100% needs to take over, especially given that we are building for the next World Cup. You want to see a 38 year old Willie le Roux at the next World Cup because of his experience or do you want to hypothetically a Damian Willemse tearing it up like he did last year?
FYI I was at Newlands the day John Williams decided that the experience of Naas Botha and Danie Gerber would win us the game against Australia in 1992. We lost 26-3. Experience can be overrated, even with legends.

Never seen a weak AB team and they could just as easily win by 30 as they could loose by 5. That said, Boks are back to who they truly are, playing good rugby, playing their best again which is why the game is properly in the balance, in fact Boks marginally favourites maybe. Changing styles and introducing youngsters (a must) brings risks but Rassie and the coaches are managing this well and that’s what we expect. I expect the Boks to tip it in their favour but not much in it, 1 score.
Who will be the locks for the Boks, only 3 (Eden, RG and Ruan ) world class locks available (Moerat has a high ceiling and can be world class) and we simply play better when we use 4 locks.

If Rassie thinks the AB's will be a walk over, then he is dumb. He knows they are always a great team. Our performance against them in the WC was not convincing. I am sure he will be wise and maybe add a few new ones in the 2nd game.

One MAJOR problem with Sacha, his out of hand kicking sucks, and it WILL prove fatal against the ABs if not corrected. Other than that, a fine player indeed.

@@Camcolito Look, I rate him highly and with experience he will become even better. However, one should not turn a blind eye to his shortcomings. All I am saying is that attention should be given to his out of hand kicking. You can ill-afford to miss a penalty kick to the touchline in a closely contested test as against the ABs will be. That may and most probably will lead to your downfall. Rather less (and make sure you find touch) than more that comes to naught.

What utter nonsense. Shannon took out bongi in the first couple of minutes and that meant the boks couldn't use the lineout as a weapon. You lost the final fair and square. We missed no kicks your team missed 2 kicks and you turned down three kickable penalties to rather try scoring from a driving lineout.

Disagree, he’s a brilliant kicker but never had the real ability to get the backline going, think back at Elton, I never liked him , but when he was flyhalf with Pollard centre , all of a sudden the backline got going, sorry Sweis, you’re living in the past, thinking in the past, that’s the problem with the old style. Said before I’m a massive Pollard fan , but him at centre with Sasha flyhalf, you would see sparks

No he's not. While a very good player, he's really been just a ball passer and a kicker. But then that's both the Bulls and Leicester type play. Times they are a changing and at last we have the Rassie Free State style of play, and even the dour Bulls are trying to run the ball under Jake. You really do need to get your thinking into the 21st century!
