    A lot of times when I was little my babysitter was my dog lol. My Dad had a polio and I had a tendency to just walk out the door and I would hear my Dad go , Butch go after her. That dog followed me everywhere.

    Dogs are amazing and very loving. They are also pack animals, which means they behave best when they understand their place in the pack. They continually will assess their standing in the pack and test the other pack members. Some of the videos clearly show the dog taking dominant stances with the infants. This can lead to a bad situation if the dog believes the infant is testing their place in the pack. It’s a delicate balance - all u parents need to be careful and make sure you understand your dogs behavior, their breed mentality and ensure every human in the family is positioned above the dog.

      I'm glad at least you didn't jump out the gate calling the parents terrible or monsters or scream that their dogs needed to be put down. This is the kind of discourse that gets through to people.

      @@rizavixen ya it’s a tough balance, I am not a dog trainer. But I have seen perfectly calm animals misbehave - the whole training to make sure your dog knows their place in the pack is very complex and some dogs are so alpha in nature that convincing them that they are not at the top is hard..

    These parents are setting their kids up for a more healthy life. Research has shown that growing up in close proximity to dogs strengthens a child's immune system and helps to protect against allergies in later life. (As if we needed another excuse to add a dog to our family!)

    • @mnomadvfx
      @mnomadvfx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not dogs in particular, it's any animals that are not other humans really.
      Non human allergens and viruses in our daily live increase our exposure to them and the respective systems that respond to these factors become more active as a result.
      It's like working a muscle, the less it's used the more atrophied it becomes.
      I was always the most interested in my grand parents dogs and cats in my youth, and I went outside the most too out of my siblings and myself, so you wouldn't be surprised to find that my immune response has generally been better.
      That being said they all passed away shortly before my grand parents did, so it's been quite some time since I had any regular contact with pets and I can tell that my immune response has become worse in that time.
      I imagine that farm hands that work with a significant variety of livestock seldom get a cold or the flu, or have many allergies for that matter.

      I get that had a Bull Mastiff that we got when my youngest was 2, if I started getting on to him the dog would get between us and try to hide him. Never growled at me but would give me a look like come on man he didn't mean it. My favorite thing was one of the kids would put on roller blades and grab his leash, the other 4 would get on bikes and they would ride up and down the street taking turns on who he would pull.

Aside teaching it how to behave, figure out what causes it to behave a certain way, that requires more attention than if it was absolutely healthy..if your dog does a trick well, but then ,bites someone, chances, are it's because the dog associates that person with something(somene) that has caused it once before ,some form of harm. Similar smell, similar tone of voice ,similar atmosphere...dogs live by association ..so yes, train your animal to behave ,but also dig deeper within their psyche..they're beings too!

      There’s nothing reckless about it. A properly socialized dog will see its humans as part of its pack and dogs by nature are protective of the members of their pack ESPECIALLY the little ones. You probably don’t know this but “scary” pit bulls were originally bred as nanny dogs for children because they are extremely loyal and protective. The only times you have dogs that attack humans is when they have been mistreated or flat out been trained to be aggressive. To attack a member of ones one own pack is not normal dog behavior. I had a Rottweiler when my kids were little and heaven help anyone who tried to hurt my kids around that dog.

The new Jake was a super sweet gentle giant who tolerated a lot considering he let me try to ride him like a horse (I thought big dogs could be rode like horses at the time). That said I was 8 or 9 and was getting all smoochy and huggy with our mut who had a bone and he mauled my face into hamburger, we ever acted that way before and he never acted that way again. My parents put him down a few weeks after I was out of the hospital. Still not my fault as kids will be kids, but my family clearly didn't understand dog behavior. These parents need to read or watch the news more!! A lady had 2 pets dogs for years she walked them in the woods every day, one she was so late getting back home her husband went to look for her and when he found her in the woods where she has walked her dogs for years..founded his wife being eaten by her loving pets!! They had decided to attack her for some reason and then eat her!! It was terrible!! Is shows you never really know what's on your loving sweet pet that you aloud to lick on your child!!! FTR I used to own a full breed Pitbull as a puppy to fully grown, and those dogs are THEE WORST dogs for defense or home security if you actually love and take care of the animal naturally. They love everybody almost to a fault, if a burglar broke into your house he could easily make off with your things including the dog because he's not going to bite you or announce your presence by constant barking.
      Pitts can suck when you take them around other dogs mostly

      Let me start this comment with this, I love all animals, including pit bulls and rottweilers. But having said that, the people who pose babies with " attack first dogs " like pit bulls and pit bull mixes should be ashamed of themselves. I get it, you love your baby and your furry baby. Cool. But what you are really doing is making a statement that " see how gentle and loving my little pittie is." That is perpetuating a false narrative. Pit bulls and pit bull mixes are 6 percent of the dog population. They are responsible for 66 percent of all dog bites and 54 percent of all dog maulings. As a police officer I responded to many, many dog attack calls. Most were attacks by pit bulls or pit bull mixes. 7 of the maulings resulted in the death of the victim, 4 of them children. 2 of the 4 were babies. So I'm sick and tired of people saying that it is the fault of bad abusive owners. No it is because a breed of dog that has been trained for over 200 years to attack first, sometimes attacks first.

      I love dogs and have several but there are breeds that don’t belong in family life. I’ve heard all the stories like how wonderful they are, until that one time that they turn! You’re talking like Mrs. Fluffy, be realistic and know that some dogs are just plain dangerous. Why owners don’t pick breeds that are more affable I really don’t know. They’re not status symbols to make owners look tough, they’re bloody dangerous animals and in the wrong hands just terrifyingly lethal.
