Can I just say that this video was very captivating, fascinating and beautiful. Everything about it is perfect, the guy talking, the music, the car and scenery, the information for the viewer. I could watch these videos all day and I was never really that interested in cars until this video. It makes me want to build a drag car and hit the strip.
You're comparing road course racing to drag racing? Course cars are geared for top end and have shit for take off torque, your comparing a 6 second 1/4mile car to a maybe if there lucky 9 sec./10sec. Car. Be like a nascar setup going against a NHRA prostock car.
@@nwil804 I assumed that was just common sense! If one were built for that, then of course the other would better with the other course, but the topic was based on a drag race so the latter was used.good pointing out what some wouldnt piece together though.
Damn, that is one wicked car. Thing fires out of the starting gate like it's being shot from a cannon. On board computer system that constantly makes adjustments to everything on the fly. Wow!!
Godly Powers you’re not building nothing you damm hill billy. You’re here to hate. We need haters. You probably don’t even own a car. But hey it’s all good. Stick to banjo playing
although this video is 4 years old (and the car is 17 years old) I just saw this "RX8" competing in Maryland at WCF 2022. it's great to find these technical reviews after the fact.

Ssshhhh, the secret is....turbocharge, nitrous a computer light chassis / body and to finish high fuel grade, with all of that, will never have a chance with Piston engines, Piston drag cars are in the 5secs. Already, don't get me wrong, the sound is impressive but...nah, too slow...😎....👊👽
So I thought the car was on race gas because @5:25 the narrator says it runs traditional fuel . Then later @6:42 mentions it has no cooling system because cars that run on methanol dont use the cooling system ....... I know methanol v8 race cars dont always use a cooling system either . Many years ago I saw Todd Shepard run his black 1962 plymouth wagon (I called it the Warpig) in Pro Street with a blown alky hemi , and he had to do the mandatory 20+ mile round trip drive prior to making runs . He had no cooling system and it did not overheat on that round trip drive , pretty amazing stuff . This rotary is so badass , very cool car
many built rotary with many rotors 6 o 10 rotors only for auto show purpuse , but in the drag world don't work only 4 rotor are capable to break the world faster rotary but 26 b are in development right now .

The mazda oil metering pump system that delivers oil to the rotor housings is binned off - so the fuel is instead pre-mixed with 2 cycle oil for lubrication instead. Just like a 2 stroke motorcycle.
dent tech😂😂😂 Rob is building an amazing car, no doubt, but he’s light years behind, even with the 4 rotor, than these guys are....I’m still can’t wait to see that thing finished....
@@tecnica2001 he is building an all billet 4 rotor with a massive (109 mm?) garrett turbo with a Hollinger transmission capable of 300 mi an hour. He should be pushing more power than these guys. They have a partial billet 3 rotor. If he's not, his block is definitely capable of more. I believe he also plans on drag racing it. I could be wrong, but i dont know enough to defend my claim. I believe his plans are to build the most powerful and strongest rotary on the planet. We'll see
I know there is more to it but for starter is less piping, one less system to worry about, safety of less fluids potentially leaking causing a disaster down the track. I know for piston engines less to worry about about with head gasket. Those cars are pushed to the starting line, come to temperature on start up and burnout, do the pass and engine comes off. Also ruining 16v batteries with no altenator remember.
The engine runs for a limited amount of time. The atomized methanol already provides a cool intake stream but the boost heats that up some. So a shot of NOX further cools the intake charge. The simplest, lightest system for a car that runs just long enough to burnout, stage and then run the pass.
