I remember booking huge groups headed for cruise ships for $59 each ticket (my cost) but I’d usually at least go for $119 and pocket $60 profit/ea. What I didn’t tell them was that if you HAD to be in Orlando that day for your cruise, well don’t fly ProAir. Maybe a 1 in 3 chance your flight isn’t late or cancelled. I can attest to the seats in the RS. I’ve driven a few of them as a mechanic and I like how they drive but the seats are so narrow across the shoulders, and stiff. A very small person might find them okay but for any average sized male human they’re not a good fit.

      Keep seeing people complain on the ride quality but maybe it's more the roads than the ride? I'm in australia and have driven many high-end cars well outside the RS pay grade and the ride on comfort and race is really good. I think there is better of course, but I can't understand the hate unless the roads are genuine dogshit

    This is almost sad to see/hear. Matt was part of the reason I pulled the trigger on buying a Focus RS. He's a couple inches taller than me and seeing that he fit comfortably in there was a selling point. Yes if you have it on the track suspension setting on public streets it's a bit jarring to say the least, but the normal setting really isn't that bad. I've been daily driving mine at 5'11" and averaging about 300lbs for years now with no complaints. Even took it to east Texas and back from Southern California. Over three years and just shy of 60k miles and it's still arguably the best car I've had.

    I’ve had a Focus RS for about 4 years now. I love it. But yeah the ride is harsh. It’s not something I’d want to use every day, especially in a city or area with bad roads. But for a weekend toy I’m very happy with it. Matt’s criticisms are fair. There was no chance that a guy his size was going to like the seats in the car.

      My thoughts exactly. I own an RS as well, bought a 2016 version in 2018 with 300 miles on it. Why? Because the previous owner did the same thing Matt did... his exact words were, "I'm too fat for these seats."

    As a Delorean owner I can appreciate and mostly agree with what he said. When Matt owned his, there were less aftermarket parts. Now the suspension and brake issues can be easily solved and it is a lovely cruiser. A lot of motor swaps have proved the frame can handle the power. Hey Matt, never too late to get another to stare at and drive once a month 😂

  • @VikramKrishnan404

    On the Delorean, you can retrofit a Bosch iBooster brake booster to significantly improve braking performance. Same system used in Teslas, the new corvette, and plenty of other cars

    I bought a 1977 Jeep CJ-5 when I was 15 in 2010, the frame was rotted to hell but I still drove it around the yard, until one day the rear part of the frame finally snapped while on a snowbank half left it stranded in my front yard & driveway lmao
    Maybe I got my $200 worth, but I only got $150 in scrap so I definitely lost money 😅

    I’ve had my DeLorean 7 years, and I’ve never had an issue and the car has been one of my most reliable. It drove from Pittsburgh to Springfield, IL and back with no issues. Sometimes people forget it’s a 40 year old car and needs regular maintenance.
    I’m a fan of Matt but I do think he had higher expectations of the DeLorean than what he received. Hope he can have a more positive experience with them in the future.

    I love my 2018 focus RS. 30,000 miles the suspension settled a little bit. Still def stiff but it’s a sports car. You want a soft ride buy a Lexus. My red LE gets a lot of looks. Bought it partly because Matt Farah had one lol I thought down the road I’d get new suspension but yeah not spend $16k to update it. I’ll just live with the ride. Track mode with the sport suspension button turned off is great. And the pops and burbles and downshifts are amazing.

    Worked at a CDJR dealership as a fleet and internet director in late 2019. GM let me have a demo car. We had a 2018 Mini Cooper Works S. Turbo AWD! Was the most fun to drive car I ever had. More fun than WRX Sti, Evo Lancer, Camarillo LT1. Handled like it wan on rails and had decent acceleration. I drove the shit outta that car. Was sad when we sold it.

    Reminds me of one time I test drove a Honda S2000 and it was great but wrong color. Dealer had the grey car with oxblood seats coming in that I wanted. Luckily test drove it before signing and sear bolsters were a bit narrower that stuck in my kidneys. Dealer tried to say they will break in as I drive the car but so painful I can't drive it more than a block. No buy and went to get a new Subaru STI with no radio.

    I don't know how a stiff ride can be a problem? Focus RS is supposed to be stiff, it is supposed to be a weekend car. I hate it when people say that a car is too stiff, like, that's exactly what they made the car for, they made it stiff for a reason!
    People argue how new AMGs are stiff or how X5M is so stiff even though it's an SUV? But like, THAT'S THE POINT OF THAT CAR, THEY ARE STIFF FOR A REASON! I like farah, he got great stories to tell, great guy, but I hate when people hate towards extreme levels of sports car just because they are stiff. Like I literally see no one complain about GT3RS for being stiff? And that thing is brutal as hell!

  • @kevjmu
    @kevjmu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know Matt leased his RS for business reasons which is why he lost 16k in payments but limited edition RS will not lose money if purchased new. I Purchased 2017 Focus RS for 35k new 4 years later with only 23k miles my RS is worth 35-36k. Regarding ride quality I agree with Matt it’s harsh but Ford fixed damping in 2017-2018 RS models. KW s DDC coilovers are $3300 not 8k. The RS is not most comfortable car for daily driving but it’s fun in the turns. There is no high performance car with torque vectoring for less than 40k. Matt described RS as car with “Motorsport feel” similar to Porsche cars.
