I know what Zayn did was wrong (he said he didn't break up with her over text but perrie did so idk who to believe) but he was really going through it. He had severe anxiety, an eating disorder and one direction was so overworked (some of the members said if they continued they thought they would di3) so Zayn needed to make some changes in his life. Hence why he left 1d around that time. Pez was also on tour at the time. I love Perrie and she didn't deserve this but they're both happy now with their new partners
With all due respect to your comment and Zayn too, he could've handled it better. Perrie wouldn't have been so bitter about it had he given her a face to face break up. It's normal to expect your Fiancé to break up with you at least in person. He had his problems, understood. But honestly..who doesn't? She too recently came out about her battle with anxiety but it gets overlooked. I am sure, that we don't know the whole story of both their sides. But given the information we have on our hands, it's but normal that Perrie would get more empathy. PR stunt or not, they must've been at least friends, and after 4-5 years of a relationship, i feel like not just her but even the boys of 1D deserved a final goodbye hug. Hope you get where i am coming from.
As a person with extremely taxing mental health issues, trauma, and also adhd, mental illness can be a *reason* but it still does not excuse this behaviour. You don't get to be an asshole just because you need to go to therapy. They were engaged and had just moved into a huge house together, sure she had places to go but that's some huge life investments he decided to ended over a text or phone call. Making some changes in his life could've even just been calling off the wedding. There were clearly things going on behind the scenes, between this breakup situation and the stories and photos of him with other women in foreign countries.
