That scene is part of the reason why I don't understand why some fans claim the Kienzan could cut down any foe. Granted this scene is anime filler, but even without the filler, why would that logic carry over to this one ki attack and not most other ki attacks over the course of the franchise? It doesn't really make sense.
@@kmgyeningThe disk breaking follows the same logic where people can no-sell energy volleys and big blasts. Their aura or physique is stronger than the attack used against them.
@@silverblade357 If I understand what you're saying correctly, then it shouldn't be true when fans claim that the Kienzan could certainly cut down any foe.
Krillin manages to cut Frieza’s tail clean off when he was in his second form, which was VASTLY more powerful than Nappa, who despite still being hurt by it, only got a large cut and that’s it. The Kienzan definitely has some inconsistencies.
18:35 I'm sure that's how that appears on the surface level, and sure with hindsight it is much easier to make that conclusion, but even as far back as the beginning of Z Akira Toriyama (the writer of the Dragon Ball manga) was trying to experiment with making Gohan the main character, starting off as the dual lead with Goku with the two characters basically being polar opposites of each other. Basically Goku is a proactive character who starts as a go-getter, adventurous, stupidly brave & confident, while Gohan is a reactive character who starts as being timid, sheltered, and stupidly scared & frightened of everything. You can eventually kind of tell when Goku "stops" being the main character when we as the audience never hear his inner dialog or thoughts anymore so we don't know what he is thinking anymore. At least, when even get to see him since he is hardly ever around. But anyway, in the next arc that this Abridged series doesn't cover Toriyama tried to have Gohan work as the main character of his series, but he was having trouble getting him to work in his narrative. In his words, he said that Gohan, "was not fit to be the/a main character," but many people don't think that is true at all. Rather there is a belief that Toriyama was mainly having difficulty writing his story with a reactive protagonist rather than a proactive protagonist, which is totally fine each type has their pros and cons with writing and each writer is better or worse at writing each kind. But because of that and Toriyama's writing style, which was basically, "writing by the seat of his pants," basically near almost an improv kind of style, that is very likely why things turned out the way they did in the next arc. But of course I don't think there is much hard proof of that rn, it is basically a lot of collective inference by the community. Anyway, one other thing to just mention about the Abridged series instead of the main series, Team Four Star said in their commentary of these episodes that in their series it is cannon that the events of Cell going perfect and Gohan going super saiyan happened at the exact same time. They just ran into writing problems on how to portray that idea without undercutting each of the characters' moments from each other, so that idea being explicitly shown was dropped. But yeah, that's a fun BTS idea to think about!
Fun fact: the creators of both DBZ and Abridged have confirmed that Final Flash was THE most powerful single energy blast at that point in the story. And that if Cell had taken it head-on, regenerative or not, he wouldn’t have survived. The “Oh sh*t!” moment was him realizing he HAD to dodge.
I mean, given everything that happened between this fight and the end of the Cell Games, there's no reason to conclude that Final Flash would have otherwise worked.
@@kmgyening Plenty of reason, otherwise he wouldn’t have dodged in the first place nor would he have his panicked reaction, Vegeta had to make sure to do it at full power as well and goaded Cell into taking it head on
The same Cell took the force of both his Kamehameha and SSJ2 Gohan's 1st Kamehameha head-on, and didn't die. He took the force of Goku's Kamehameha head-on and didn't die. If both Goku and Gohan were stronger than the Vegeta in this fight, then it seems unlikely that this Cell would have been killed by this Final Flash.
@@kmgyening Those are easily explained, Final Flash at full power was stronger than Goku’s Kamehameha at full power, Cell took Goku’s kamehameha head on it only took out half of his body, literally no room to dodge but that wasn’t enough to put him down, comparing Final Flash at full power to the Kamehameha at Full Power, Final Flash had way more destructive potential compared to Goku’s Instant transmission Kamehameha. Only reason Cell survived the Final Flash because he didn’t take all of it head on, he literally dodged at the last second Gohan the whole time was toying with Cell, Gohan was way more powerful than him and didn’t use all of his power in his Kamehameha, he simply used enough to push Cell’s back, Cell took that head on but had less to regenerate.
@sonomni I think the Cell dodging thing is doing a lot of work for your argument. The problem with what you're saying is that there's no real way to compare the actual power level or destructive power of the that Final Flash with either Kamehameha. The fact that Cell dodged the Final Flash doesn't actually tell you that he wouldn't have survived a full hit, when he survived ki blasts shot from beings who were apparently much stronger than this Vegeta. On top of that, he regenerated from a small clump of cells after blowing himself up. Considering how sort of hax (and actually plothole-y) his regen ability is, there's no way to know whether the Final Flash would have destroyed all of his Cells unless we witnessed it.
This episode was my favorite Krillin moment. The amount of emotion in his lines trying to convince himself to push the button, and then the soft "...Oh." It hits deep for me.
23:30 - Vegeta's theme right here is properly epic, and I think is only used for this scene. I'd compare it with the Atma Weapon theme from Final Fantasy 6.

The crazy thing is, Krillin's lack of nose isn't even a stylistic choice, he actually doesn't have one. In Dragon Ball he squared off once with a guy in a tournament whose gimmick was horrific body odor. Krillin won specifically because he couldn't smell him!
The thing about Cell’s physiology; he has both Namekian and Saiyan biology; every time he gets injured and regenerates, he grows that much more powerful.
That wasn't really confirmed by this arc. He was only shown to get one Zenkai, and that was at the very end of the fight. Even the Saiyan characters were not shown or stated to obtain Zenkais throughout this entire arc.
That's the coldest fucking line in the entirety of all Dragon Ball series. "Next time why don't you know your place like the rest of them.....and wait for Goku."
12:05 There it is ladies and gentlemen, the last solar flare image before cell reaches his perfect form. And wow TFS was looking up on Rule 34 stuff lol. Also, the final flash scene is Iconic af!
Iittle fun fact, goku's song in the beginning is like the song Steven universe sang when he want to see a giant woman. "All I wanna do, is see you turn into, a giant woman, a giant woman". What a nice call back...
"It's too bad you don't have Saiyan biology; at this point you'd probably be unstoppable." Sums up Kuririn's experience post-Tambourine perfectly 🤣 always present when the world is about to end, but never strong enough to actually do anything about it.
one thing i loved about Vegeta using the Final Flash attack was that, in the original series, Cell never taunted Vegeta about attacking him "as hard as he could". Instead, it was Vegeta who taunted Cell saying that he couldn't possibly withstand his attack, and that much like a coward, he would have to dodge. Cell responded with "ok, see what you can do", and proceded to tank his attack. It is also worth mentioning that every time Vegeta has used the Final Flash move, he has taunted his opponent in such a way, because as we can see, it's not a fast technique, and it takes a while both to charge and to hit. So, he needs to make his opponent wait for him, playing with his pride (which is ironic, when you take who is using this technique)
Actually he did dodge at the last moment. Toriyama has stated that this attack was the strongest blast in the saga, if Cell had taken it head on he would have died.
@@iainmcdonalds4018I wouldn't put too much stock in that claim, considering the fact that Toriyama isn't a shining example of consistency regarding this franchise, as well as everything that happens in-universe throughout the rest of this arc.
I'm so glad they included some of faulconer's vegeta music for the final flash. That vegeta suite is iconic and hands down puts the music from the other versions to shame
I think it's great that you had those two episodes together because the DBZA writers said they couldn't show it well enough but Cell going perfect and something that happened in episode 52 (not saying what yet cause reasons) happened at the same time.
one thing i always notice in these reaction videos is that in ep.51 goku specifically says "tomorrow, i'mma get you super saiyan." and the next episode (the next day) he pulls this dodge training; AND it turns out the kamehameha was at half power. no one ever seems to notice or mention if they did, that goku very clearly calculated that would shock gohan into super saiyan. even though he says he though gohan would dodge, i doubt he actually did.
yeah, Blueberry is clearly the superior muffin. And, fun fact, in the commentary Takahata101 mentioned that the main inspiration/touchstone for his Perfect Cell voice is Kelsey Grammer as Sideshow Bob

That wasn't really confirmed by this arc. He was only shown to get one Zenkai, and that was at the very end of the fight. Even the Saiyan characters were not shown or stated to obtain Zenkais throughout this entire arc.
17:13 imagine if they destroyed the entrance!
Me looking at salad saiyans trapped in time chamber senario: visible concern
That's the coldest fucking line in the entirety of all Dragon Ball series.
"Next time why don't you know your place like the rest of them.....and wait for Goku."
19:00 someone said it once that Goku in Z wasn’t the main character he is the Hero he is the last Hope
Z most of it was Gohan and vegeta focused
"I can't sense power levels but I can feel THAT." Yea they're fxcked😭
12:05 There it is ladies and gentlemen, the last solar flare image before cell reaches his perfect form. And wow TFS was looking up on Rule 34 stuff lol. Also, the final flash scene is Iconic af!
Pssst. Y'all's playlist is missing Android 13.
Iittle fun fact, goku's song in the beginning is like the song Steven universe sang when he want to see a giant woman. "All I wanna do, is see you turn into, a giant woman, a giant woman". What a nice call back...
Blueberry is my favorite muffin with lemon poppy seed being a close second.
The music during Vegeta's final flash, you don't get that awesomeness during Kai boys. Just.....saiyan.
Unless there's an option to use original dub soundtrack on the dvd lol
"It's too bad you don't have Saiyan biology; at this point you'd probably be unstoppable." Sums up Kuririn's experience post-Tambourine perfectly 🤣 always present when the world is about to end, but never strong enough to actually do anything about it.
Tien saying "cyber sex" is the funniest thing Ive heard
Fun fact about Krillin canonicaly he doesn't even breath through his mouth but through the pores of his skin.
Is the video just stuck on 144p? I can't seem to change the quality of the video...
Same
one thing i loved about Vegeta using the Final Flash attack was that, in the original series, Cell never taunted Vegeta about attacking him "as hard as he could".
Finally at perfection
The final flash is easily one of the best moments of the series.
Legacy Goku of II was amazing, the first not so much
23:38 that line goes SO HARD.
I love that they didn’t even comment on Cell yelling “OH SHIT” cause of how massive the Final Flash was lol
"oh thats definitely from a hentai" the laugh i got from that. Well done sirs. That earned my Sub to the channel 😂
I am gonna watch it now but i already know that it's gonna be awesome!!❤keep it up!!🎉
I've been singing the p-e-r-f-e-c-t song in the shower ever since this episode came out. It's so fucking ominous.
(At 24:00) I *still* couldn't stop laughing after THIS!
P is for Priceless, the look upon your faces🤣
The intro song is super fun 😂. (Props to muffin for returning)
one thing i always notice in these reaction videos is that in ep.51 goku specifically says "tomorrow, i'mma get you super saiyan." and the next episode (the next day) he pulls this dodge training; AND it turns out the kamehameha was at half power. no one ever seems to notice or mention if they did, that goku very clearly calculated that would shock gohan into super saiyan. even though he says he though gohan would dodge, i doubt he actually did.
17:54 I mean, sort of...he does until marketing dictates otherwise. And Toriyama's feelings I guess.
15:10 Legacy of Goku doesn't hold up, but the sequels Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury are excellent
Superandroid 13 is over? Did you guys skip an upload or was that intentional?
yeah, Blueberry is clearly the superior muffin. And, fun fact, in the commentary Takahata101 mentioned that the main inspiration/touchstone for his Perfect Cell voice is Kelsey Grammer as Sideshow Bob
The lines & the songs are just so … Perfect 👍
I love that they watched these two together, especially knowing that TFS originally wanted to have Cell go perfect at the same time that Gohan went Super Saiyan.
I'm also glad that some of their predictions are so...shall we say, perfect.
To be fair, TFS did say in their canon they did happen simultaneously. They just couldn't fit them both in one episode and do then both justice
@@robertmauck4975 Indeed. But that's why I'm glad they watched these two episodes in the same video; that's the next best way to get the same effect overall!
DBZA is how I found out about Steven Universe
You guys talked about Super Android 13!, but I think you forgot to upload it.
Apparently according to TFS, the Finsl Flash actually would have killed Cell if it him him head-on, as Crll stepped out of the way. While Vegeta is much weaker, he literally put EVERYTHING HE HAD into that blast
Perfect Cell is, by far and away, the best character in the Abridged series.
Right from his incredible, campy, and hilarious intro to the very end of the series.
Personally, Mr Popo is my favorite character
@@marieporter9488 He’s top 5 for me for sure.
These parts in particular are significant to something that happens later.
Billy, if you would be so kind to upvote this so they see.
Here's a little bit of trivia for when you guys get to the DBZA Broly Movie. TeamFourStar did not make any changes to Broly's backstory for the abridged movie. What they show in the abridged movie is his actual backstory.
Perfect cell is one of my favorite villains in dragon ball🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you guys like this show tfs hifl and short story
He should've said "IT'S KRILLER TIME"
Funny how the youngest to go super sayain is now literally a fetus
Originally Gohan was going to be the main character after the cell/buu saga but it apparently did not focus test well so they stuck with Goku
