im working with cc2017 now and of course some things have changed over the years but even tho you wont get a result you will work with in the future i highly recommend working through this tutorial as it explains a lot of basic knowledge that will come in very handy later down the road when you start doing stuff and you dont know what the program is actualy doing for you to keep up with that this basic knowledge helped me to keep track of whats g oing on actualy
I agree with gtmcguire, this was an exceptional tutorial. I'm a newbie, and I even understood and followed the advanced functions of what you were talking about. It was extremely thorough and understandable. But most importantly, you took your time. You didn't rush and assumed we knew things. You are an extraordinary teacher. I come from a family of teachers (professors), so I am critical. Great job!!!!!!!!
Really liked this. It was excellent. One suggestion though... could you put the end result at the beginning (high quality) so we can see what it is going to look like and then go to how to do it? I would really like to see what the full render would have looked like. Thanks so much for your efforts. This really helped me understand (1) better what After Effects is capable of and (2) how to turn a 2D pic into something that has 3D characteristics. Great job!
aah, i just got into making soft rn and tNice tutorials is so helpful and your voice is so sootNice tutorialng btw! thanks for tNice tutorials tutorial
Would have been nice to see a preview at the beginning of what the finished product looks like. That way I can determine if this is the desired effect I want to achieve prior to watching the 21 minute video.
But right below in the corner of tNice tutorials blue screen, there's "Program" wNice tutorialch most likely states "Aggressive TE" if you click on that you have a
Very helpfull tutorial. How would you do this for a landscape image where there no straight surfaces mountains etc..is there a way to create polygon wireframe planes inside after effects?
My scene is still black despite the fact i have moved the image infront of the camera, set light transmission to only. DO i have to have the same settings as you did? Like same settings for cone angle for the light?? Omg, i re-opened the project file and repeated the process like 100 times, but the scene is still black..
To be honest it didn't look all that great at the end, but this is a old tutorial. You can just mask/cut out the the pieces you need in AE or Photoshop. Put them at different distances in 3D space and get a better result. Also as said could also try vanishing point in Photoshop.
thanks a lot, very useful technique. at 7:00 and around, wouldn't it it make sense to try to mach the grid lines with the photo perspective, messing around with the focal lenght of the camera ?. the photo is obviously wide angle (under 28mm I think) and you are using a 50mm AE camera.
+Michael Dominic The ground plane won't mimic true perspective in that case. If you split the ground (or runway) on its own plane, it would get closer or farther with camera movement, but uniformly - the close side of the runway would enlarge at the same rate as the far end. You'd have to rotate it flat, but then it would be distorted. Try it your self and it will be clear. To chop up an image for parallax, the image planes need to be fairly close to the camera plane. Vanishing Point export is often a quicker way to do this, but it's not always reliable, and it's very difficult to make infinite planes (like from the eye to the horizon) work properly. It's much better for interiors or exteriors that have an end to the planes, like a wall.
I am using after effects CS3 and I got stuck at 16:30. When I turn off "accept lights" on my grids I can only see white color. I am pretty sure that I followed the steps correctcly. Any ideas what to do?
Can the same be one with Video...I am trying to make the feature of having a movie theatre look with tv screens one each side with a camera turning from one screen to the other
Since it is a camera mapping used with lights, how can I use it in a 3D comp with elements previously animated? Wouldn't this mapping affect the rest of the comp?
Great tutorial. I wanted to try something similar.. I couldn't because there is no such thing as "light transmission" under material options in AE CC17 (german version).. It just doesn't exist... I googled the issue.. found nothing about it. What did I do wrong? why would it be removed? Is this a bug? I don't get it.
Hello, I am looking for a good screen capture software what screen capture software did you use. Your videos are always very high quality. Additionally, do you have a video on recommended settings for screen capture software--thanks in advance...
It's graphics / processor squeal - can be avoided by using a soundcard, rather than main-board soundcard for recording. Usually a result of the front or rear audio jacks' rails on the main-board running close to the power. Notice how it happens only during visual render. It's the sound of electrical interference. Can be removed using audition to capture frequency and scrub for premiere (like recording dead-sound in room before capturing video / foley). That or rewiring the computer. Many custom machines have this, if they use high-end GPU/CPU and so have high wattage PSU. USB mic in rear port fixed mine. 3.5mm jack wires ran too close to lines for SSD and GPU.
Believe in yourself, our determination is sotNice tutorialng that never lets us down

One of the best tutorials explaining camera mapping. Thanks.
So I went into soft soft and tried to intuitively grasp the basic fundantals. And now listening back I feel like I'm one step ahead of Nice tutorialm.
One of the more professional tutorials I´ve ever seen, thanks a lot
Ty yt for recommending me this after 10 years :)

Don't matter how long you take, long as you do it cause you love to
Great tips!! I'll def check out more of your videos. Just started writing and making soft. I feel soft softs will help get to the next
A very helpful tutorial on camera mapping technique. Thanks a lot Andrew, stay blessed

Awesome so helpful and simply explained.
Excellent tutorial!
Very useful bro I like it
Great Tutorial learned a lot

Thank you so much! This will hopefully help me with my ERB Covers! If this works I have less editing to do :) thank you
Thanks sir.. Really useful.
EXCELLENT video dude
great tutorial. good patience. keep it up
THANK YOU!!!!! PERFECT TUTORIAL.
Tks for ur msg i though i was alone ❤❤
The first video I've found wNice tutorialch makes production seem accessible, thanks!

how to do that bro help me out i know vanishing point but what about that mask and cut in ae??
thanks a lot, very useful technique.

absolutely brilliant, tanks a lot
Awesome! I feel like i'm getting a video tutorial from Wheatley!
thnx... nice.. so nice... tutorials....
Question: Why would one use this effect over a regular parallax where the imaged is sliced and set on different 3D planes? Thanks.

this blew my mind
Thank you for this... found really helpful...
Thank you so much
Must to turn off deep of field on the camera settings, to se original resolution of the image…
Thank you for uploading!!!!
Awesome Tutorial. Thanks.

Jefferson Sales done a few but not there yet
can't you just use the corner pin effect? like independent vfx in his element 3d jet tutorial for the background?
i do what is the tutorial says but a just get white? i am lost with this
i love it
Thank you so much really appreciate it!
Wouldn't it be even better to add 2 more solid, one one each side, left and right? BTW great tutorial :D
Sir please tell me why you use gird?
Can the same be one with Video...I am trying to make the feature of having a movie theatre look with tv screens one each side with a camera turning from one screen to the other
I also really appreciate if the author make a video about UnsetupIt, an app that can isolate or remove softs from a . TNice tutorials app is really
Cheers.... great help
brilliant, thanks so much.
Thanks, very useful

Thank You !!!
I did all this work to find out i need an advanced 3d camera option which i do not have. what do i do?

change your 3d renderer (settings) to classic 3D.
thanks we appreciated
Can anyone explain clearly why he rotate solid at 4.25
good tutorial
misconceptions that the comnt is supposed to soft like I am in love with Nice tutorialm or sotNice tutorialng.
thanks! simply great! :)
do you have the finished product?
thank so much!
EXACTLYYY im learning tNice tutorials tNice tutorialng when im stressed out becuz of exams xD
Hello, I am looking for a good screen capture software what screen capture software did you use. Your videos are always very high quality.
Additionally, do you have a video on recommended settings for screen capture software--thanks in advance...
He uses Camtasia, I can tell by the overlays (callouts) he used (arrows, square text boxes...)
plus i have no cone angle at the end of my camera
best!!
you should have shown a sequence showcasing the finished effect.
thank you
when i apply cast shadows only and lights transactions to 100% then it showing the colorful grid not the photo. Pls help
turn off the grid in the end
Is there any type of software which is free with camera mapping? Any links?
Great tutorial btw :)
Use Photoshop and vanishing point. Much easier.
JeremyShirkMedia Photoshop is not free lol
amazing Tut/
thanks
If you still only see white then try deleting any 'layer styles' on your projectors film.
Is it just me or is the quality very poor even with shadow resolution @4000? So why would you even use it?
but there is a benefit in it))
What's with the loose car fan belt sound?
I bet its him
zeebazu USB/Data leaking into the audio cables from the mouse. This is why you use "balanced" audio cables.
