You should definitely watch Dragon Ball. It's amazing. It's not all fist fights and dudes screaming. There is real heart, and storytelling too. The story follows Goku, and his friends. Over the course of the story Goku grows stronger, learns about his strange origins, and fights bad guys, most of whom are trying to use the titular "Dragon Balls" which are magical wish granting orbs for their evil desires. The anime is divided up into 3 "parts" Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z Dragon Ball Super There is a fourth show called 'Dragon Ball GT' is like a "Bonus" show that isn't really "canon" to the original. It was made with very little input from the original creator. but it also has cool stuff. In the event you get to the Z part of the story, I recommend watching the version of the show called "Dragon Ball Z: Kai" it is a complete reworking of the original cartoon that cuts down a lot of filler and has a much more faithful translation than any other American broadcast. After you finish Super there are two more "canon" films to watch. Dragon Ball Super: Broly Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero These are the only two films in the entire series that actually advance the story in a meaningful way. The rest are fun little side stories that don't really slot into the timeline of events in an organic way and are meant to be enjoyed in isolation.
