200th Commencement Exercises of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy 07/20/2023

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the 200th commencement exercises of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) ‘MADASIKLAN’ Class of 2023 at the Grandstand of the PMMA Complex in San Narciso, Zambales on July 20, 2023.
The ‘MADASIKLAN’ Class of 2023, which stands for ‘MAgiting na may DAngal at SImbolo ng Kawal ng karagatAN,’ is composed of 224 graduating midshipmen, with 97 from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and 127 from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE).
Graduating as Class Valedictorian is BSMarE Midshipman First Class Allan Jay Jumamoy of Bohol. He is set to receive the Presidential Saber from the Commander-in-Chief and the Academic Excellence Award.
Joining President Marcos Jr. in the awarding ceremony are former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Antonio Lagdameo Jr., Commissioner Ronald Adamat of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and PMMA Superintendent Commodore Joel Abutal.
The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) serves as the pioneer institution in maritime education in the country and is considered as one of the nation’s oldest institutions with a history dating back to 1820.
