I discovered this series years ago because my local library had a few volumes in their minuscule Manga section. It's been one of my favorites and I love seeing it get some more attention.
Thank you for this super amazing video!! Sugar Sugar Rune is a great story, especially the manga. The anime dragged a little, but it was still good too. As you said, the fashion in the manga is insane!! Everything is so pretty.
I really love sugar sugar rune, I even added chocolat and vanilla to tomodachi life, I didnt read the manga but it seems really enjoyable and better in some aspects that than anime, but sadly I dont know where I can read it, and its not accesible in my country lol, great video!, I love when people give sugar sugar rune recognition and their deserved roses in the aspect of looks and aesthetics!
This was a fun look into Sugar Sugar Rune, Ill give the manga and anime a shot ^^ Can't wait for the Tokyo Mew Mew review, would you be adding Tokyo Mew Mew New to that video as well ^^ Great video as always ^^
I saw this anime last year, I genuinely was loving it up until the midpoint where it def fell off, that said I still liked it enough to read the manga after and had no idea how different it was it confused the hell out of me. I honestly have mixed feelings about this show but for sure the aesthetic is the best thing about it lol
I had never finished the anime, so for this video, I started with the manga. I was pretty confused when the anime turned out, like that ... Despite its faults it's a very ambitious series
I really liked sugar sugar rune and wished they adapted the manga closely because with the way the anime focused more on Vanila and almost glossed over Chocolat’s character development. I kinda wished the mangaka went a little hard on Chocolat and actually gave her a black heart arc too. It was such a missed opportunity.
Oh man this really takes me back!!! I was absolutely obssessed with this anime when i was a kid!!! It aired on our local table and was dubbed in filipino, but because of school and extracuricular activities, I missed a lot of episodes and never understood the plot of the anime 😅😅😅. I think i did read it somewhere online by a fanscans with poor translations??? but dropped it because there were no regular updates. I should definitely revisit this and read the manga. the artstyle and the fashion is still sooooo absolutely gorgeous ❤❤❤❤
I remember stumbling onto the anime as a young girl and loving it. BUT I hated the ending very much and i felt like it stepped over Chocola's hard work and potenial to be queen even despite the anime saying the Noir hearts didnt cout imo i still felt chocola should of won. Vanilla didnt really give off the queen vibes especially cus of her jelousy arc and not being able to connect with anyone for a while. Knowing the Manga did different but i am curious on how it feels leading up to it. ill have to get back to reading the manga someday.
There's a lot of merit to the manga so I hope you enjoy it. I also agree with your Vanilla take. She's not very pro-social and seems incapable of leading the Kingdom. The Spring Witch Exam and Cocoa Desert Arc solidified that Chocolat was a better fit
Hello Cure Ice! I just stumbled on your video and I wanted to say thank you for covering Chocolat et Vanilla.(that is how it is reffered to in French haha) This anime was a huge part of my childhood, and I really hope it gets a modern reboot or readaptation someday.😊❤ Thanks again for showing it some love!❤
Nice video review and Happy belated Halloween lol! I only watched the anime and finished it in the summer 2023. I enjoyed it and thought the Chocolate vs Vanilla arc was highlight for me in terms of the anime. Also, I lowkey kinda ship them way more than Chocolate and Pierre tbh. I did think the ending for anime was rushed too and idk if I'm ever going to rewatch it anytime soon, but I thought it was nice.
Thanks. I really liked the solo arc Chocolat gets after getting lost in the Magical World. She grows so much that I believe she would've been a great 👑 At least the anime let her win...
I'm glad people enjoyed this show because I didn't LOL. As a a kid, I just couldn't get over my annoyance with Chocolat and how lazy and entitled she felt. I also thought they would do something interesting with Vanilla (like how she doesn't truly want to be queen but tries anyway since her mom is queen, but the show doesn't seem like it cares for her) but she was just another shy, damsel in distress. Fluttershy is a better character than her LOL. And the most important thing, as a kid I HATED Pierre. Still do as an adult because he's literally a teen pining over an elementary girl like ewww.
Neat video🧙♀️ I liked both anime and manga version of sugar sugar rune. The story were simple yet complex, the art style and character design were good and felt different, and characters and worldbuilding from both version are nice too. However, if I have to pick one, I choose the manga version. Some of stuff were bit better explained in the manga, and I actually prefer manga ending. (Also, the 1th and 2th endings of sugar sugar rune anime have stuck in the my head for years. It was so cool)
I'm glad besides in Korea a few years back with the SSR cafe.
This series is not forgotten also the manga volumes of this series is so pricey now...
I would love to buy raw scans if they were available

Glad to hear it! I hope you enjoy the manga🎉
Thank you for this super amazing video!!

I'm really excited to explore classic magical girl shows so looked forward to more.
The fashion in this series is DIVINE!

Yes! Sugar Sugar Rune is a really amazing manga. I love the aesthetic and story.
I loved reading Sugar Sugar Rune years ago when the manga was releasing in English. I was so excited when a new volume released!
I watched it a bit as a kid so I'm glad I got to finish it now 😌
the best anime/manga ever! the aesthetic is just so beauty and comforting
I LOVE Moyoco Anno's art soooo much.

If I have time to watch it then I will add Tokyo New Mew
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to add it to my "to read" and "to watch" lists😊
Hope you enjoy it!🎉
I read the manga in elementary school and really liked it. Maybe I should give it a new glance.
Yeah. It was such a fun ride🎉
I bet the sugar suagr rune anime will have a crossover special with Witchy precure in 2025 💗💜
Unlikely but would be fun
I haven’t thought about this anime in forever, definitely gonna read the manga
Please do🥳

The anime wasted both their potential which is a real shame. I'd appreciate a new series with new candidates. It's a very fun world
thank you for this video!
You're welcome🎉
I love sugar sugar rune
Me too💜
Google is spying on me since yesterday I just searched for Sugar Sugar Rune (for a pfp) and now I got this recommended
I just finished the anime yesterday and I completely agree, it was rushed and Vainilla does not face any consequence
Yeah, it really flattens both characters arcs
I remember reading it and later getting to watch the show. Thanks for making this review.
Glad you enjoyed the video :)

Sugar Sugar Rune has an awesome art style. ✨
Right? Moyoco Anno is an incredible artist

Pierre is such a creep. It's really gross🤢
