      well, the fact is he toe-dragged, as you can see when you watch it back in slowmo, its like only cause the judges didnt see it still means he didnt land that trick correctly. many people when u rewatch it spinned their fingers for a redo because they saw the toe-drag, was judges fault.

    • @afkbender3686
      @afkbender3686 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just rewatched this December 23 2017 and I have a different take now.
    When I first watched the battle I was irked over Sewa's calling redo on himself, but this time I really noticed how strict Mike-Mo was on Joslin in the end. Rightfully so imo because that balanced everything out and the person that I wanted to win, won fair and square...but yeah

    • @dikbuttbutt
      @dikbuttbutt 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jari van Lennep they call impossibles 360 shuvs because people get picky about if the board actually wrapped or not. so if you do a 360 shuv, that counts as an impossible. although I've seen 1 batb where they did both in the same round and counted it as two different tricks. but that's not consistent throughout batb

  • @kevinschmidt2438

    just because sewa doesn't practice pressure flips doesn't make it "cheap" for joslin to use them. Sewa was doing the exact same thing with his double flips, he saw joslin didn't practice them and abused it. Obviously huge respects for calling his own (slight) toedrag, but joslin still won fair.

    • @zekek3777
      @zekek3777 7 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Kevin Schmidt yes both can be considered cheap, but one is more cheap than the other. The main issue comes down to difficulty.
      Any skater in this tournament could easily have spent a day learning how to do 10 different pressure flip variations consistently and would have been the BATB champ. Most consider them lame though and don't bother learning them.
      Learning double/triple flip variations consistently is a much more difficult task.
      In my opinion, if you want to win, just learn how to do pressure flips in case someone decides to do them in a game. If not, don't get surprised when someone is desperate enough to do one. Honestly, I dont think most of them care that much to take this game seriously though.

    • @timeslowingdown

      Also in the previous battle Sewa kept doing hardflip variations to get Shane O'neill out. Strategy is part of the game...

      No way--he actually landed it the second try. It was ugly but no toe drag. I think Mike Mo was (rightfully) trying to be extra hard on him by making him do it cleaner, especially given the freebie that he got earlier from the Sewa's self call. That was actually the best call of the entire battle IMO.

    I feel so bad for Sewa, he won with the fs double flip and it was nearly perfect. I can't believe how generous he was to call it on himself because he was beating Joslin so badly. I felt dirty after the game and even Joslin admitted what he did was kind of dirty. Anyways Sewa is awesome and super tech/ consistent. He's already won, and will again I'm sure...

      Rick Taylor you are the only thing wrong with skating... Why not support your fellow skater, instead of talking shit to the younger generation. And I've been skating for about 18 years off and on.... Besides, you have no room to talk. I'm sure you've never even come close to landing that trick. All I'm saying is that I rewatched the trick on stream and I couldn't see the toe drag.

      Closet Nerd Gaming he admitted it, I'm sure nothing you would do. I know you don't see the point I'm trying to make, which is fine, but you keep seem to be saying that he should of shut his mouth and just won, even though he KNEW he dragged. That is once again the difference between you and a true skater. A lot of respect from me to Sewa for calling his own drag, when if he kept his mouth shut and then won it would of been obvious and people like you still wouldn't care. Just saying man I've been skating off and on for almost 18 years and I fuckin hate people with the " awww c'mon! he was close! count it!!" mentality. Either way it is what it is and keep skating dude, shit gets harder and harder the older you get.
