Spinners were one of my favorites from the 70's!Well deserved Rock and Rock Hall of Fame inductee's! Midnight Special was always a show people waited to see who was going to be on it.Those were the good old days!
My favorite Spinners song. Soul-flavored vocal groups like the Spinners, Temptations, Four Tops, O'Jays were a big part of the soundtrack of my tweenage and early teenage years! Hand me down my walking cane!
It is past time for The Spinners to be inducted into the Hall! We copied all those moves at my high school! Yes, I can still do them! Thank you Bennett for the recommendation and Harri, thank you for the reaction!
And let me add the Stylistcs, Manhattans,O'Jays, Chi Lites, Blue Notes, and all those incredible Motown R&B music. I am begging the forces and powers that be, please bring back Black soul/R&B with those great melodies, harmonies, vibes and grooves. Nothing against Rap and Hip Hop, true art form and the voice for so many today, BUT, I need these great groups and individuals to sprinkle fairy dust and bring us a new generation of great soul and R&B music. Hey, John Legend, can you spearhead this??? God I miss the 70s!!!!!
Thank you Bennett. I love this. I heard it on the radio dozens of times but never saw a live performance until now. Fantastic”feel good” music! Thanks Harri and Bennett 🌺✌️
Philly Soul rules! I remember this song so well when it came out. And to this day I think of the film, Stripes, when I hear it. LOL Great selection, Bennett Joseph!
An absolutely stonking Song and Band one of my favourite Songs of all time if you are not happy after listening to this then you need go and see the quack.
"Rubberband Man" is my favorite Spinner's song. They had a lot of great songs in the 50's-70's. "That's What Girls Are Made For", "Love (I'm So Glad) I Found You", "I'll Always Love You", "Truly Yours", "It's A Shame", "We'll Have It Made", "I'll Be Around", "One Of A Kind (Love Affair)", "Together We Can Make Such Sweet Music" etc. They had a big hit in 1974 with a collaboration with Dionne Warwick, "Then Came You".
My favorite group of all time. These guys were real showmen. Try finding them singing Mighty Love live to kick off the 1973 or 1974 Grammy Awards. Standing O from an audience of their peers including Stevie Wonder and John Lennon.
Harri previously played a live version of "Mighty Love" that I submitted. The sound isn't the greatest but it is still awesome. And that Grammy performance is indeed impressive.
Saw Spinners perform this song in concert in 1977 in Los Angeles. They were on tour with *Rufus featuring Chaka Khan* and *Rose Royce.* Thanks for another great reaction.
About 20 years ago, I saw them at a music festival.. I couldn't wait for them to come on. But they had to play a "short version" concert so the next band could play. They played a medley of their biggest hits. I was bummed out because they had to shorten most of their songs. The last song they did was Rubberband Man, they did an extended version. They really kicked it. IT WAS GREAT ! Love me some Spinners.
Love this song since it came out! I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s which I think was the greatest era for music. I also love the groups that used horns and sax in their music.
So awesome! Gotta wonder: was the rubberband man a colloquial folk musician, even by 70s standards, like playing a broomstick & bucket bass?? I remember the song from the radio, and it's even cooler to me now, considering what it may be about :)
After a long period of waiting the Spinners were finally chosen for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. . One of the greatest singing groups of all time.
Love me some Spinners! Thanks Harri and Bennett. ... Btw, Harri, am not sure if you already knew this, but a "rubber" is American slang for a condom. So it made me giggle like a schoolboy when you said you wondered if people had their rubbers out and were doing their rubber dance to this song at clubs and parties back in the day. 😁
We had a thing in the 70's called the Super Band, it was a huge red Rubber Band, and we all had them at the Roller Rink just for this song, and ocassional shenanigans😎🤣😂👍🏼🇺🇸
There was a Vince Young college football highlight video to this song that has vanished. If you love epic TH-cam football highlights you've been robbed.
Everyone's doing the Live version and I must say, it pales in comparison to the studio in a big way. I'm beginning to believe that most people don't know the difference.
Back when music made you feel good!
Made ya happy being alive in 76!I was 8 without a worry in the world!👍👍
Yes, Awesome--Astronomical talent--both vocals and dance moves.
That's how you do a live performance. What a voice.

I've always thought this is such a happy tune! You can't hear it and not move and smile!
My favorite Spinners song. Soul-flavored vocal groups like the Spinners, Temptations, Four Tops, O'Jays were a big part of the soundtrack of my tweenage and early teenage years! Hand me down my walking cane!
I loved this song when it came out. Used to watch Midnight Special too.
I love the music of The Spinners. They really get you off the chair and start dancing to them. Philippe Wynne voice is great.
The Midnight Special. Everyone has been there. Dig the Soul. Good Times 🎸🎵🍷✌️

They are in
Great selection, Bennett I love anything by the Spinners and thanks for a great reaction Harri.
The Spinners were one of my favorites back then! I remember watching them on the Midnight Special. You're right, that was a great show.
Pure joy listening to the Spinners! A summer party in the 70s just was complete without hearing "Rubberband Man"!
Love The Spinners♥️🎼👏🏻 Beautiful memories♥️🌷
I haven't heard this in decades, yet I still find myself singing it on long overnight shifts stocking groceries at Walmart.
Thank you Bennett. I love this. I heard it on the radio dozens of times but never saw a live performance until now. Fantastic”feel good” music! Thanks Harri and Bennett 🌺✌️
Loved the Midnight Special! Brought me way back. ❤
Love the funk. Rock on.
Philly Soul rules! I remember this song so well when it came out. And to this day I think of the film, Stripes, when I hear it. LOL Great selection, Bennett Joseph!
Fun fact: The Spinners performed the theme song to Mel Brooks’ 80s sci fi spoof Spaceballs. It’s really catchy.

A very groovy tune!
They sure had it! And shared it!

Fun
Bring back all this great music

The Philly Sound!
I remember when this song was on the radio. I had the single. Just a fun song!
I’ve been in a Spinners mood lately - reminds me of better times. My fav is “Games People Play.”
I love this song and the Spinners ! I watched The Midnight Special as mutch as I could, great show ! Thanks.
Harry, you’re Kool as ice bro, and the lead singer is in the song ‘knee deep’ by Funkadelic!
Love this song since it came out! I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s which I think was the greatest era for music. I also love the groups that used horns and sax in their music.
Guaranteed!
....to blow your mind!
Love it!!!!!💗💗💗💗💗💗👍👍👍
Oh I had this 45 when i was a teenager. I love the song.
Grade 9 when this was on the radio... went to my first big dance, and this was one of the big hits of the evening! Thanks for the memories! 🥰
So awesome! Gotta wonder: was the rubberband man a colloquial folk musician, even by 70s standards, like playing a broomstick & bucket bass?? I remember the song from the radio, and it's even cooler to me now, considering what it may be about :)
I love all their hits!
Hugely fun, thanks Harri.

Takes me back to Middle School. Love this song.
Doesn’t get much more classic!
It's wonderful, Harri starts with an almost imperceptible nod of the head to the beat, by the end he is FULLY engulfed!! 😊😊
Talent Ladies and Gentleman...TALENT!
We had a thing in the 70's called the Super Band, it was a huge red Rubber Band, and we all had them at the Roller Rink just for this song, and ocassional shenanigans😎🤣😂👍🏼🇺🇸
thank goodness there are plenty of these vids available, lets get to it
Great song. It was the background song from an unforgettable scene in the movie, "Stripes."
I remember when Rubberband Man exploded on the scene. It was the top rock song by anyone.
I forgot all about this song, until it appeared on an Avengers or GotG movie recently.
Saw them many times. Hard workers and great music. Try Mighty Love or Could it be I'm falling in Love
Great tune
Idk how you sat still for that. Have you done Diamonds on the Souls of her Shoes, the live one in Africa? You’d love it
I had a One of a Kind Love Affair with the music of this era.
Levi Stubbs and the Four Tops, you couldn’t beat them
Would you say that "Midnight Special" was the American version of "The Old Grey Whistle Test" or "Top of the Pops"?
I think more "Old Grey Whistle Test" because "Midnight Special" mostly had acts perform live and I believe "Top of the Pops" was mostly lipsync.
On a serious note please review Wedding Song by Noel Paul Stookey.
dare I say "testify"
If you like this, you need to check out Backstabbers!!
What they do!
Burt Sugarman is still alive and releasing Midnight Special shows every week on TH-cam.
There was a Vince Young college football highlight video to this song that has vanished. If you love epic TH-cam football highlights you've been robbed.
Everyone's doing the Live version and I must say, it pales in comparison to the studio in a big way. I'm beginning to believe that most people don't know the difference.
Studio version had a better horn section than this.
Phillipe Wynne went on to be the best Singer George Clinton ever head.
Why did black music have to change to hip hop grandstand music.
Prepare yourself……
Studio version better ...
If you want to BAD singing so bad it’s funny Mrs. Miller is the artist’s name.
Yes the Spinner’s were great but this song is just commercial junk
