I love and respect everyone whom can see the wonder and beauty in this opus, and love it as passionately as I do. Romantic nationalism and romanticism in general created such beautiful things. These pieces tell a story, and evoke strong and inspiring feelings with ethereal sounds and melodies. It's even scary how much of an impact music can have on a person. It inspires me to reach for the stars, my dreams. It's what inspires me to keep going. Everyday. I wish I could share this wonderful music, and these feelings with someone, but sadly, as a young 18-year-old, it's extremely hard to find anyone from my age group that could appreciate and understand it. I'm forever indebted to Herr Strauss. Gosh, I love his music so much, from the bottom of my heart.
Wenn man dies in einem Guss hört, dann versteht man auch, was Strauss damit aussagen wollte. Eine Wahnsinnsreise, die man so schnell nicht vergessen wird!
Usually listen to this great piece with Sinopoli, Jansons or Orozco-Estrada but thought I'd give this a go. How well rewarded. Apart from the beautiful alpine scene - which could be Scotland but for the trees - I love the power, contrasts and nuances. A beautiful interpretation which took me to Kempe's biography and foundation. He died on my 29th birthday, no doubt when I was nursing my first child, Sonoko!
I listened to this very recording on tape so it was cut in two parts.....and I said, wow, this is an amazing recording! And I listened to hundreds from a lot of composers. Great upload! THANK YOU! 😊👍
Includes one of the best orchestral depictions of a thunderstorm I have ever heard. He could have composed for the Weather Channel. Followed Jim Cantore around. Segues subtly around 30:00 and at 34:20 you see and hear the first distant flash of lightning. This guy had a handle on this! Wish more composers would consider material of this sort as inspiration. I happen to be one of those weather wonks who longs to be a storm chaser.
Very beautiful symphony by Richard Strauss Made in Germany, because Richard Strauss was a German Composer!!!Sehr schöne Sinfonie von Richard Strauss Made in Germany, denn Richard Strauss war ein deutscher Komponist!!!
can never get too enthusiastic about this piece since i'm always wondering why the Bruch Violin Concerto theme was lifted by Strauss in such a blatant manner - just makes no sense for Strauss to steal like that
Strauss was a GENIUS. Bruch was... gifted...I love it too !

If you look at it that way, latter composers and cultures in general have citated the fuck out of Strauss. It's a normal part of the creative process. Citation usually bears meaning other than simply stealing lines out of lazyness. I would be interested, though, to hear exactly what you mean. Can you pinpoint the exact theme? Thanks

This piece makes me cry every time
me too especially the sunset and on the summit
Kempe's interpretation has stood the test of time, and is still among the best.
THE best!

For anyone who is utterly sick of Till Eulenspiegel, dig this!

No... He was Portuguese. He was the illegitimate genius son of a Leiria bakerwoman. Do your homework. Gruss aus Lissabon
Per me la migliore interpretazione.Eccezionale!!
15:20 That was a big herd of cows!
This is Wagner, Bruckner, Mahler in one, but better
Strauss would've probably agreed with you. He may have reached the mountaintops, but Bruckner soared to the stratosphere.
ケンペのシュトラウスは、好演で安心して聴ける!
But I think his earlier version on RCA was even better!! With the Royal Philharmonic Orch I think.
Thanks.

Had to share. Just ran across a video here on TH-cam of Richard Strauss' Violin Concerto. Check it out because it is quite good.
Arnold Schönbergs Verklährte Nacht am Anfang ??
???
Screw Schönberg, btw
absolutely
Strauss is in fact quoting his own early symphony in f minor Op.12.
@@mrtchaikovsky your post blowned my mind, thank you, have a great day.
what a jam
