Paul Rodgers is an elite voice in R+R history. Bad Co. was the first band Zeppelin signed onto their Swan Song record label after they formed it. Great band.

Paul Rodgers may have, in fact, helped save Jimmy Page's life. After John Bonham died, and while Jimmy became isolated and reclusive while he still suffered from a drug dependency, it was Paul Rodgers who helped Jimmy get purpose again by playing together, eventually forming the Firm, and getting out on the road.

First and foremost, Rodgers could _sing_ . Although BC played what I'd call generic rock ( _Free_ made better music, mainly because of Paul Kossoff), Paul Rodgers was the reason they differed from the herd. I do not believe he was one of the two best rock vocalists ever, though. Those honors belong to Steve Marriott and Freddie Mercury.
And before the Zeppelin worshipping horde comes out, I'd recommend a listen to the 2022 interview Robert Plant had with Rick Rubin in his _Broken Record_ podcast. I never paid _any_ attention to Humble Pie until Plant, in that interview, said that starting out as a vocalist "he couldn't do the Marriott thing". Puzzled, I immediately checked out Marriott and saw exactly what Plant was talking about.

Paul Rodgers also joined with Jimmy Page in the 80’s to form the band The Firm. Some great songs, but they had only moderate success and disbanded after two albums. Never got to see BC perform in concert, but when I was a flight attendant I had them on a short flight from ATL to Albany, Ga. A small 30 seat puddle jumper. We were running 4 hours late. The previous flight crew lost the drummers stick bag and stool bag. We were on that plane for a loooong time. They were the only passengers on the plane. I started belting out this song and the next thing I know we're all having a grand time going through their catalogue. They were amazed that I knew all their tunes. I suppose the concert was canceled, IDK. I wouldn't trade the experience for any live concert. Good times. Love their song Simple Man. Very powerful. It's not the Skynyrd song, but their own.

Front man & co-founder of Free, Bad Company, The Firm (with Jimmy Page, post Led Zeppelin), The Law (with Kenney Jones - ex-Small Faces/Faces and The Who drummer). Did a couple of concerts & an album with a reunited Queen billed "Queen + Paul Rodgers". A personal favorite of his solo work is "Muddy Water Blues: A Tribute to Muddy Waters (1993)". In 2016 & 2019 he had major strokes, along with 11 minor strokes. I believe he's made a full recovery in spite of the last one affecting his speech and musical abilities. He is the quintessential rock vocalist with aggressive vocals.

I never noticed before how much his voice reminds me of Lou Gramm from Foreigner, or vice versa. I saw both of those bands as a kid in small indoor arenas when they were back in their early heyday.
Definitely has that badass vibe but to me there's always been at least some wistfulness there too, if you take note of the anguish in his voice at times, well most of the time, and then there is that line in there about them being rebels, the ones that other people more or less cast out, so they took up a gun and gave away the sun.
That is particularly heartbreaking to me for some reason.

Good commentary on the piano here. Paul Rogers' voice is its own instrument, too. He later teamed up with Jimmy Page in 1982 or so for a couple of albums under the name "The Firm," whose hit "Radioactive," has a wicked bass line. Another of Bad Co. many hits was "Shooting Star," which, I believe, was inspired by the life and tragic death of one Jimi Hendrix.

Bad company had a lot of success with their first album "Bad company" on Led Zepp's Swang Song label and manager Peter Grant. I love them. Paul Rodgers is one of the best rock voices. When Mercury died, Queen wanted him to be their singer, but he was at a couple of concerts and he didn't want to, he didn't want to be Fredy's replacement. Until recently Nury I have still heard myself sing with a wonderful voice. I'm glad you listened to them. They have great songs

Paul Rogers is the lead singer and Wrote a bunch Bad Companies music In 1993 or 94 Paul made a tribute album to Muddy Waters and all of the songs are Muddy Waters songs except the Cover Song and the name of this song is Muddy Water Blues and their are two versions of this song One in acoustic and one in electric guitar This song was written by Paul Rogers This album has some of the best blues and rock guitarist on the planet Jeff Beck, Steve Miller David Gilmour Buddy Guy,Slash from Guns and Roses and a couple more that I can’t remember
My favorite music is by far the Blues I like all kinds of music But I went to a party in high school and someone put a Muddy Waters album on an I was hooked like a fish They say that Muddy Waters was the father of the blues and I believe it Every blues artist on the planet has covered most all of his music Eric Clapton,BB King,Albert King,Albert CollinsJonny Winter’s even played lead guitar for Muddy Waters But I own a bunch of blues albums and this Album that Paul Rogers did as a tribute to MW is one of my favorite albums that I own

Paul Rodgers did a flip side follow-up to this in the 90's called "Layin' Down the Law". His vocal, piano work, and the song overall, top this one by a few notches in my opinion. Don't miss it!

Paul Rodgers also played piano for the band and on this song of course. I’ve been lucky enough to have seen them a number of times in the past. Most recently a couple of years ago in concert in Tampa with Joe Walsh opening for them. And I can honestly say his voice is as good as ever!

Paul Rodgers voice is often referred to as the perfect rock-n-roll lead in a band. Just lay back, sing the song just after a shot of dry whiske to give an edge and sing your ass off. He is sometimes overlooked because of the era in which Bad Company lived and breathed. The Who, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and some other popular music acts could overshadow the great appeal but not the music of Bad Company.
Examples of such great rock songs them include,
    SWEET LIL SISTER,
    GONE, GONE, GONE,
    SILVER BLUE AND GOLD,
THE SKY IS BURNING. Enjoy the beats guys. And keep going

Great band! And a great reaction guys! Paul Rogers started with the band Free and they had success. I think they did 5 albums. They he started Bad Co with Mick Ralph’s who left Mott the Hoople (w/Ian Hunter) to start Bad Co. some of their hits Mick Ralph’s wrote (and performed) before Bad Co with Mott the Hoople. When Mick Ralph’s left Mott, his replacement Luther Grovsnor from Spooky Tooth (Gary Wrights first band). Luther Grovsnor replacement in Spooky Tooth was Mick Jones who eventually left them and started the great Foreigner. 6 degrees of separation and they’re probably all connected to Kevin Bacon. Paul Roger went on to start the band The Firm with Jimmy Page, they did 2 albums, I saw both tours - loved them!!

Bad Company was the first band Zeppelin signed to their brand new Swan Song record label, that says a lot right there about this all star band led by the great Paul Rodgers, vocalist extraordinaire and multi instrumentalist who has played all instruments on some solo albums, he can do it all. Bad Co Rocks! Do Live for the Music for more, enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

There was a show back in the 1980’s called The Young Riders, about the Pony Express. One of the characters was James “Jimmy” Hickock, this song was played during the episode where Jimmy accidentally shot and killed a woman who ran into his line of fire. Jimmy realized it was his lot in life to be challenged by others because of how quick he was with a gun.

Many rock bands have sought after this icon.......... Paul Rogers, what a voice! Saw him live in Virginia Beach a few years back and he can still belt it out. His live performance sounded just like his studio stuff. He attributes his longevity to staying away from the life of substance abuse. Rolling Stone ranked him at #55 in the "Top 100 Greatest Singers of All Times". Thanks for reacting.
