I love your obsessive compulsive practice personality. This is me (in my 20-40's) But never had this technology to share. I am very grateful for your videos and am sharing with my students :)
Glad your channel came up on my recommendations. Your videos so far have helped me understand these concepts better than any of the other flute channels i have watched! No joke! Seriously, you are awesome
No idea why I only came over to your youtube channel now when I´ve been following you on Instagram for ages, but I´m so glad I have! The video is amazing and really helpful, thank you!
my gf thinks it is funny when i make articulation noises for trumpet and clarinet. this will be even more interesting...thanks for posting. i learn so much from your channel
Great tutorial! I'm having such a hard time keeping the rhythm. My tongue tends to speed up and it sounds choppy, but I learned some great exercises here. Thanks!
Great video. Personally i did have problem with my sound, during double tonguing. I got it fixed by playing Bach suite for flute, with double tonguing. Very slowly at the beginning and now freely with a great sound. 😋
Mtra.
I have a weird issue I can double tongue really well in the lower register, however as I go higher, my double tonguing gets choppier. How can I fix that?
i've been playing for probably more years than you've been alive (with big gaps in-between), now getting back into it and truly appreciate the simplicity with which your videos show the skillsets. Takes the daunting out of the double tonguing, thank you. I might actually garner the courage to try this. :) #jethrotullgoal
Me too Julia. Very encouraging teaching, on the one hand, and to know I am not the only old fogie who is returning to the love of his youth. Double tonguing always seemed very intimidating but this video showed me that I can do it without crazy mouth mystique.
@@gerardcattin7615 I just bought a flute - after 35+ since the last time I touched one. ...Played in school for ~7 yrs. I was a pianist, so never had a private lesson. I don't think I ever even tried this. So much catching up to do (especially since I feel like I'm starting from Square 1 again, haha)! ;)
I like to use singing while playing often because I find that it really benefits my sound: It helps me feel more open - the throat can relax, the tongue lowers, and my feeling of air support is naturally engaged rather than forced - after singing and playing, my sound is usually better and more fluid and connected!
Do you have any tips on increasing the speed? I can double tongue but just not fast (which i find weird)?? I'm playing sonate by poulenc and have never come across double tonguing before this...
Hi Jolene! I actually found your TH-cam channel because I had heard of you when I was a flute performance major at FSU. Question: What is that little thingy connecting your headjoint and flute body? I've never seen that before.
Setting the air in motion / initiating support first can help you articulate more clearly from the start of the lowest notes! If you were to hold a note, then start double tonguing, it would be easier because we already have our support ready to go, so try to emulate the feeling of having already released air! I hope that helps!
I have a question, what would be an appropriate level to learn this. Im sure i could learn this but im surprised my teacher never even told me about this
I love your lessons but it hasn't really helped me the way I wanted cos I'm a beginner with no music knowledge and no one training me. So I was wondering if you might consider doing series of flute lessons from scratch to professional or even intermediate level. Thanks.
Bonjour, j'ai du mal à savoir quel coup de langue vous faites sur les gammes chromatiques. Pouvez-vous me dire ce que vous faites svp ? Merci d'avance.
i just realized that my embouchure is similar to yours but my tone is too airy and my blow very hard ,can you tell me how you get such an even tone..any exercises or tips ....
A supported airstream with plenty of space for resonance in the mouth is the most important aspect of tone! Drop the jaw, think of inhaling "warm air," and maintain expansion and spaciousness of the ribs while exhaling.
You take it back to first principles. You are the Elon Musk of the flute. Co-ordinating tonguing and fingering though is another ball game for me I'm finding though, and I still end up sounding like a beginner (which I am) as I tongue in between 2 notes. Thank you for this, this helps a lot. Slowly learning to connect the tongue and the fingers together so they work as a team!

LeFreque
does the tongue pizz would have the same effect than double tonguing?
y would people dislike this
do you have any tips to improve double tonguing in the lowest B and C i find it very hard to do that without cracking the note
