    Thank you so much for sharing! Just wondering, for the Taffanel and Gaubert exercise what is the purpose of playing and singing at the same time?

    • @JoleneHarjuMadewell
      @JoleneHarjuMadewell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like to use singing while playing often because I find that it really benefits my sound: It helps me feel more open - the throat can relax, the tongue lowers, and my feeling of air support is naturally engaged rather than forced - after singing and playing, my sound is usually better and more fluid and connected!

    do you have any tips to improve double tonguing in the lowest B and C i find it very hard to do that without cracking the note

    • @JoleneHarjuMadewell
      @JoleneHarjuMadewell  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Setting the air in motion / initiating support first can help you articulate more clearly from the start of the lowest notes! If you were to hold a note, then start double tonguing, it would be easier because we already have our support ready to go, so try to emulate the feeling of having already released air! I hope that helps!

    • @JoleneHarjuMadewell
      @JoleneHarjuMadewell  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A supported airstream with plenty of space for resonance in the mouth is the most important aspect of tone! Drop the jaw, think of inhaling "warm air," and maintain expansion and spaciousness of the ribs while exhaling.

    You take it back to first principles. You are the Elon Musk of the flute. Co-ordinating tonguing and fingering though is another ball game for me I'm finding though, and I still end up sounding like a beginner (which I am) as I tongue in between 2 notes. Thank you for this, this helps a lot. Slowly learning to connect the tongue and the fingers together so they work as a team!
