Getting kids to catch fish is indeed very challenging. My approach is always looking for techniques which make hook-ups the easiest. These rainbow trout, fortunately, usually grab and go instead of nibble, so a suspended fly under a float usually works well.
Fantastic 🎣 video Rod 👍👍👍. Luv your family fishing adventures 👍👍. Passing on fishing tips, information, & knowledge. 👏👏👏. The best of ALL is family time 🥰🥰 together ❤️
Beautiful spot I haven't been up there since I was ten I'm 45 now it brings back memories of my dad taking us fishing there. It's a great area thanks for sharing as always a great video
Thank you, it brought back memories of taking my kids fishing at Tranquille lake, north of Kamloops. So much fun watching your adventures. Oh and thank you for introducing me to Linda Lees channel, real people doing real things. I'm living in Victoria now and really need to start researching the area for good fly fishing this spring.
Mostly I fish alone and record video for my oldest brother in Ontario. Bob came out in 2020 and taught me how to fish, came back in 2023 and we had the time of our life hunting and catching Steelhead ❤. He's coming back again this coming March to hunt steelhead again. Fishing with family is another level of enjoyment❤.
Well I was excited about ice fishing until I watched this…now I want to skip straight to Spring and get back to fly fishing 🎣 Looked like a nice spot to spend a weekend!
Hey Rod! I’m fairly new to fishing and fished every day since the start of October until now, the Vetter, serpentine, Norsh, kanaka ect. Now that coho season is slowing down, what do I do now. I know steel head season starts soon but what after, I’d love to fish all year round but don’t know where to go in the lower mainland, thanks
In the Lower Mainland there's winter steelhead fishing and coastal cutthroat trout fishing happening in sloughs and rivers between December and April. The lakes are not stocked in the winter but you can still catch fish in them. Ice fishing is also another option if you head toward Merritt and Kamloops, or Whistler.
I believe so, but you'd have to contact them ahead of time to see what they have. The resort reopened this past spring and the new owners don't really fish much but hope to accommodate anglers and all their needs so let them know.

Nice, Elliot's first solo fish really took him for a ride! So neat to see them finally hook and land a fish themselves 😀
It's great to see the family content!
Thanks!
Well done Eric! ❤
It’s nice to see a nice family fishing trip great video good to see the little guys catch fish
Thanks!
I think that duck was a paid actor. Perfect timing.
In this messed up world video like this are pure gold. Fish on!!!!
Thank you!
Catching is a challenge. Getting kids to catch is way harder. Good that you showed him what it’s about.

We are so lucky to have such beautiful places to fish. Awesome footage, Rod.
Thanks! We are indeed pretty spoiled.
That's awesome. I know the first fish a boy catches can give lifelong memories
Yes indeed!

My kind of place, nice cabin or room to go back to after fishing...
Haha that one @9:47 nearly hit your camera.
Those fish were savage. If steelhead fought like that nobody would ever land one and sone do.
They're amazing fish for sure.

Excellent video Rod! Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking about bring my wife up there to unplug. Do they provide boats for rent or free for use? Cheers!
