Listen to this every morning and it's a delight to the ears every single damn time. 😊
Thanks!
I'm glad you like it :)
woooaah hold up is it an octave mandola or octave mandolin??? Cuz those things are different aren't they?
Yeah, they are different but the confusing thing (as far as what I've read about) is that an octave mandolin (literally a mandolin but an octave below and how it's called in the US) is called octave mandola in the UK. Even tho an octave mandola in the US is supposed to be something different lol. But as I'm in the UK that's what it was named when I bought it.
@@renatosuetakea literal octave mandola would be a Mandocello in both the states and abroad
Yeah it's quite confusing. This is the one I bought

What are your thoughts on this ashbury? Think it is better than eastman?
I can't really compare as this was the first octave mandolin I ever bought. I think an Eastman would be double the price or something like that, so I would still expect the Eastman to be better lol
Are you happy with the purchase? How do you learn? By ear?
Yeah, so far so good. I mean, this was the first Octave Mandola that I ever bought so it is a bit hard to compare to others, but I guess I can judge from a guitarist perspective - I can feel this is not a super high quality instrument, but it seems to be a good value for the money. It stays in tune fine and I can't notice any bad thing about it. I didn't want to spend too much on my first one, so I'm happy with it.
And yeah, I've been learning just by ear and trying to find things on TH-cam (it's not so easy to find things for this type of instrument tho)
Nice medley arrangement!
Thanks!
Hello! Nice playing :)
What tuning are you using? G D A E?
Thanks!
Yes, just standard G D A E
@@renatosuetake thx!
Very charming composition
isn't an octave mandola just a mandocello?
I'm no expert, but from what I know the octave mandola is the same as the octave mandolin (literally one octave lower than a regular mandolin), but here in the UK it's called octave mandola instead of octave mandolin (which I think they call it that in the US)
lol
@@renatosuetake got it. In the US, an instrument that's an octave below a mandolin is an octave mandolin, and a mandocello is an octave below a mandola. It gets even more confusing when we talk about the violin family: an octave violin is called a tenor violin.
@@028fn48dne Yeah it's quite confusing. I couldn't find the "octave mandolin" for sale here and then I had to research and make sure that I was buying the correct one when I went for the octave mandola xD
Don't know why they made such a mess naming these instruments lol
brawo! It was so good!
Thank you! :)
Nicely done. As a bouzouki player, it would be nice to get your tabs for yours songs.
Cheers!
Unfortunately I don't have any tabs for those. I've been playing it just by ear and never wrote it down.
