    By now there may be a “kit” available with new instructions and all three parts. In the mean time, here are the part numbers for the bits I received from Lee.
    Bearing Ring: TP5536
    1/4 IN Chrome Ball: TP2114
    Spring .030 Music Wire: TP2115

    I got the Lee six pack when it first came out. It took a lot of troubleshooting, phone calls & upgraded parts over the course of the first year to solve similar issues on my particular machine. It seems to have finally settled in and works well now. I had to chuckle as you showed that they changed the instruction sheet, just a few months ago I noticed they updated the instructions for the six pack as well. Thanks for all the videos, there’s always something to learn.

      Hello, and thanks for stopping by the bench. The ball/spring doesn’t mitigate the need for the pin. That pin is what gives the turret a superior “lockup” for each station, in my opinion. I don’t think it would be as positive without it. I’ve never had a pro-1000 so I wouldn’t hazard a guess as to the interchangeability of those parts. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

    Check to see if your 5 hole turret has detents machined into the underside of the turret. Mine didn't and when I ordered the 6 hole turret it didn't either, however the 4 hole turret I received did have detents machined into the underside. This plays a role in the indexing, because I was originally indexing off of the index rod holes, because the ball will partially fit into those holes when you have the ball and spring in the 4-6 for the 4-6 turrets or the box labeled 5 for the 5 hole turret. However when I machined my own holes into the 5 and the 6 hole turret, I wound up getting the same results that the new Lee instructions have outlined. As a matter of fact I even further machined out the detents on the 4 hole turret, because I was using a weaker spring than what Lee is now providing and I wanted a more positive stop. I now have the Lee supplied spring and if I use it on my newly machined detents it really locks up that turret with the spring in the location as outlined in the new lee instructions. I ordered another 6 hole turret and I want to see if they are now shipping with the detents machined in.

    • @viejo2a
      @viejo2a  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi again. My 5-hole and 6-hole turrets do not have detent “dimples”, only the 4-hole has them and they are very small. The 6-hole turret indexes correctly with the ball set in the “4-6” socket. The 4-hole turret also indexes correctly in that position, but both the dimples and the index rod holes catch the ball. The index rod carries that turret right through the “dimple” though. The 4-hole dimple would catch the ball if it was in the #5 socket, but the detent action seems better when the ball catches the larger pin hole. Has Lee re-designed the turrets such that they all now have detent holes other than the pin holes?

    • @derekenz2140
      @derekenz2140 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@viejo2a I'll let you know. I just ordered another 6 hole turret. The email I got from Lee yesterday is that "tool heads also have detents machined into the bottom face to register with ball and spring"

    • @derekenz2140
      @derekenz2140 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@viejo2a you are correct the index ball is indexing with the index rod hole when the ball is in the 4-6 box because the ball partially goes into that index rod hole. Once you have the tool head with the detents machined into it and you follow Lee's new instructions I suspect you'll see better performing indexing. I know I have seen more robust indexing when I machined my tool heads, but I machined them deeper than what Lee does, but that's because the spring rate I was using is much lower than what Lee is shipping. I could leave well enough alone but I enjoy working with these machines.

    • @viejo2a
      @viejo2a  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@derekenz2140 Thanks. It’s interesting that they didn’t mention that detail to me when I inquired about the bearing plate and associated parts. The turrets I have seem to work “OK” with the ball indexing on the pin holes, but perhaps a dedicated detent hole would work even better. I’m wondering whether the tendency of the ball to engage the detent pin holes will cause issues with new detent holes. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

    • @derekenz2140
      @derekenz2140 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@viejo2a I thought the same thing that I'd get that ball to index in both the index rod hole and the turret detent, but they don't if you put the ball and spring in the properly mislabled location. The 4 hole turret has those same index marks machined into it and sure enough it doesn't index at the index rod hole just at the index detents.

      Lately though, Lee has released equipment that flat would not work as delivered. I was not expecting out-of-the-box performance I did not pay for. I was expecting performance that I DID pay for, no more, and didn’t get it with this press. When a company sends out inoperable equipment, I’m going to call them out on it. I agree that much of Lee equipment is just fine. Not this piece as it was delivered to me. Not the multi-tube bullet magazine kit for the APP and not the last Lee mold I purchased.
