Nice addition to the property! Off grid is not hooked up to public utilities. You’re fully off grid out there. Ignore the haters and trolls, they’re just jealous and enjoy getting a rise out of creators. Just keep doing you 💚
Love the bunkhouse! Great idea! I Love the people that think they are offgrid & are the official dictionary term Lol. You would think they were actually working a farm too but they aren’t. Off grid is exactly as you said Laura “ not using water, electricity from government. Hope you are well Laura! 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Thank you❤️ We always say you never know until you try…. Or the only way you learn is to just do it. So glad you enjoy the channel. We appreciate you watching!!
I luv the off grid shed/cabin. You can make it board n batten too! I'm happy to be able to watch the inside being built! You 2 are off grid! Jay ignore miserable people. I call them the sh*t starters! Cause they aren't worth taking your joy!
❤️ Thank you!! Yes!! We could totally do our faux board & batten eventually. Love that idea!!! I would love for it to match everything else. We appreciate your kind words & totally agree!! Great to hear from you & thanks so much for watching!!
Thank you!! We wanted to build one from the ground up but our time up north is so limited. Great to have a shell to start with. We appreciate you watching❤️
Great choice in background music. Bunkhouse 2.0 is going to be an awesome place once you guys get done putting all of your finishing touches and making it blend into your motif. For the back loft, do you think it would still serve the same purpose of acting as a collar tie for those rafters if you were to remove it, cut it down in width a bit, and re-install halfway up the lower part of the rafter? That way, it will give the top bunk more headroom but still give some storage and rigidity. It looks like the other loft was up around that same height. Regarding your off grid-ness, you are definitely off grid in my book. There will always be those people that nay say just to make themselves feel better. They are small minded and don't deserve to take an ounce of your happiness. Nobody listens to them. Have a great week at camp!
Hey!! Thank you!! We are very happy with it. We definitely have some work to do on that loft. We appreciate your suggestion. Can’t wait to start personalizing the bunkhouse!! We also appreciate your kind words about “off grid”. You are totally right- don’t let anyone steal your thunder❤️ Thank you!
To me off grid means exactly what the old school definition states...... the home is not hooked into any general utility services.... ie hooked in water, sewer, electric, gas, phone .... all lines.... Im kinda weird, I dont really care if Im politically correct..... definitions of words arent just subject to what ppl "feel" like they are. You guys are 110% off grid as per the old school definition in my book. A lot of folks who never live the life and most likely never will like to nit pick others who are .... these days when the wind blows a new direction they change all sorts of definitions... all bs to me. I LOVE THE SHED!!!!! Cant wait to follow this new project! We just bought another off grid property further up north after building up this place for the last 8 years.... the adventures continue
Hi!! So great to hear from you. Congratulations on your new property. That is so exciting!! When do you make the move? We super appreciate your kind words & we 100% agree with you. Also what a great point…. Most who judge it have never lived “this” life❤️ Thank you so much!!!
@@JLGWoodscapes We havent moved yet... so still off grid about 45 min south of the new property. I told my husband this time around Im not going to just raw, there has to be some things started first. Were thinking maybe next spring? But until then we cant wait to go camp out and plan the new build. Its raw open farm land w a touch of woods in the absolute middle of nothing.... so different than this place. He wants to farm, I want to raise sheep ... we love trying new things so I suspect this wont be our last big life change lol
@@HousewifeInTheWoods oh wow!! What an awesome new adventure❤️ Will you be video documenting any of it? Sounds wonderful!! I agree with the camping & planning. Seriously sounds very fun. What is your interest with sheep? For wool or meat? Sheep are such cool animals.
@@JLGWoodscapes :) I want to document it so badly in video but Im painfully shy that way.... I have to just get over it. I am definitely going to blog it and Id love to write a book/memoirs ... the sheep Im interested in are called Finn sheep. They are a wool breed that are excellent mothers... drop lambs early and have multi births reg and the wool is to die for, Im a spinner, the meat is yum! Butcher young, low food cost to over winter (and we will have a hay field now squweeeeeee!!!!... ) and I really wanna milk them too.... :) I cant wait to see your shed finishing :) I was actually looking at those as a poss thing for the land.... Please keep us updated on how you feel the build and quality are for what u are using it as
Definitely a good addition to the property. Those bunk beds are very similar to the one I had as a kid. You could always run a vertical support from the loft to the rafters to make it sturdier as long as the roof could support the extra weight. Can’t wait to see what you do to it. I plan on going back up to my cabin in a couple weeks I will try to get some videos.
Hey thanks!!! Yes it for sure needs better support. We are so excited to start finishing the interior. Can’t wait to see all the work you guys have done. Your place is so cool!! We are heading back up today. Can’t wait to get there!!
@@JLGWoodscapes How much was the bunkhouse 2.0 I have thought of doing that too after we get the road established but until then guests have to tent it.
@@jasonhanna91980 It was 8k delivered, set & leveled. We are impressed with how well they did getting it in there. We sold our camper back at home to justify it. We definitely could’ve built it cheaper but our time is so limited up there. It would’ve taken us 3 or 4 trips just to get a shell done.
@@JLGWoodscapes Thats not bad at all. I’m in the same boat not enough time to build everything myself. I spent about 2k building the outhouse that is only 5x6 when lumber was really expensive and I’m still not finished with the inside yet.
@@jasonhanna91980 We didn’t think so. They were having a 10% off sale when we bought it. Seems there are sheds sitting in every town up there. Definitely suggest watching for a sale.
Great addition to the property. If your kids are as imaginative as you guys, im sure they'll put their stamp on it when they arrive. Cute bunk beds. Is there a reason why you put boards under the mattresses? Till next time💕🐕🐕
Hello- Thanks so much for tuning in!! Our kids are definitely as imaginative as us. I wish they were able to come up more but they will definitely be involved in the process❤️ The boards are just to make the mattresses firmer. Lol the Griffis’ love firm beds!!
Looks good, Maybe try table against the window wall or is that to close to door? I’m in the middle of building a bunkie as well and scored a set of twin beds from the 40’s. Nice project.
Thank you!!! Yes…. I tried that. It’s too long. Jason has me talked into probably getting rid of it😂 40s bunk beds? That is awesome!!! Love the term “bunkie” We appreciate you watching❤️
Looks Off Grid to me.... Out in the Boonies, no power lines, no city water, no neighbor kids screaming. Sitting on a porch soaking in the peace and quiet IS the definition of Off Grid. The Double male thing.... dont judge me when I run my whole cabin that way off of my generator haha. Im going to have 4 of those coming off of my solar generator. The comments will probably say Im going to die!!!
Thank you❤️❤️❤️ I love your definition of off grid. Lol on the wiring- No judgement at all!! Do it!! But don’t die😂 We super appreciate your comments & thanks so much for watching!!
Nope!! Still to come. It’s pretty cringe worthy 😬 He is doing great now though. Completely healed up & his fur is starting to grow back where he was shaved. ❤️

The term off-grid has always pretty much meant that you are off the electrical grid (Utilities).
Nice bear! I can’t for bear season
We 100% agree!! Thanks for watching. We are actually hauling bait up today to be ready for when we can start. We can’t wait until season opens.
