Early into the conversation, Sergey complains that our society has a collective irresponsibility because no one wants to be responsibility, yet at 48:00 he asks not to make him responsible for the ethical implication of technological progression. Well, not entirely, obviously! What about Sergey being responsible for his contribution? We have collective responsibility and if each of us takes our share of the ethical responsibility for technological progress, it will change our society completely. The issue of responsibility is discussed later in the podcast and the subject definitely warrants further conversation. I say this to raise awareness, not to criticise. I love this conversation and found it interesting to hear some assumptions being made about aging. Would women be able to have children for several hundred years or would they be able to have reproductive control with advances in birth control? Just because we currently have a large elderly population doesn't mean we always will. As Sergey points out, birth rates are falling in most places. Fascinating conversation!
Everything about this is mind-blowing, but omg the talk about how animals aren't here for us to test on and the possibility for us to open our aperture for empathy. "The heart and the brain. It's symbolic, no?"
Sounds great. In the meantime, lets all make a salad, go for a walk, switch our phones off in bed and book a medical check up.... If we all did that, then perhaps there ll be more billions left over for new miraculous inventions. Oh and maybe clean up the planet a bit. That would help.

If we don't tackle the climate crisis then it's completely delusional to spend time to live longer. There is no bright future for living longer when we are heading for the demise of the earth. YES!!! Trying to live longer is just a distraction from the reality we are refusing to face.

Life after death? Well our bodies go on to nourish the earth, and to give back to the microbes around us. I must disagree that “If there is nothing then having lived a thousand years would be like never having lived.” I think this is a wrong perspective. I think what really matters, is the quality of life. Living to 100, with very fulfilling years is a good goal.
