Just WOOOW! WELL DONE Stefan, Andrew & team! Learnt some interesting facts I never knew! Especially his father's blood, & Jesus referring to the martyred Zachariah. Also my daughter's saint, Joanna the Myrrhbearer rescuing John's head. Lord Jesus Christ Son of God have mercy on me a sinner 💖🙏
We wanted to go for something that sounded 'tough' for John. Gunpowder has the right impact. Though we do still have other Christmas teas left to try...
Another awesome video! I’ve always wondered why John said he didn’t know Jesus just before baptizing Him. I would think that even if he somehow never met Jesus prior to baptizing Him, Elizabeth would have told him about Jesus. If they had never met up to that point, I guess it makes sense that John wouldn’t have recognized Jesus? If, while in Elizabeth’s womb, John recognized Jesus in Mary’s womb, to me, logic would say that he should be able to somehow recognize Jesus as an adult too-but maybe that’s a stretch? Any thoughts would be splendid! Thanks again!
That bluesy country music in the background makes St. Forerunner sound like an outlaw! (Which, to certain individuals, including Herod 2, he certainly was!) 😁
I really appreciated this video. The Forerunner has a prominent place in my heart due to today’s Gospel reading. John 1:29-34 At that time, John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, 'After me comes a man who ranks before me, for he was before me.' I myself did not know him; but for this I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel." And John bore witness, "I saw the Spirit descend as a dove from heaven, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God." This reading had a profound effect on my life in the summer of 2001, right before Fathers Day. I was not a believer then, but was going through a period of spiritual hunger. I decided to read the Bible again. When I came across this passage “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the son of the world!”, a thought, or inner voice, said “These words are true, and you were foolish to ever doubt them”. The thought was so strong, and so contrary to what I believed, that I believe it was not my own mind, but rather God calling me. And the tone of it was not a stern rebuke, but like a mother rescuing a child from walking into a busy street. It was intended to save me. I’ve been a follower of Jesus Christ ever since.
Hi, just a quick question. From 7:49, I see you refer to the certain ‘Zechariah’ mentioned by our Lord in Matthew 23:34-36 as John Father. I have always understood ‘Zechariah Son of Berechiah’ as a reference to the Old Testament prophet Zechariah, based upon Zechariah 1:1, wherein this exact name is used. Please, if someone could help me 🙏🏻
The Orthodox Church understands the Zechariah in Mathew 23 as being St. John the Baptist's father and not the OT Prophet (of which there were several Zechariahs) and also a son of a Berechiah.
“The Forerunner” is such an awesome nickname
It really does say a lot!
Halo memories anyone? 😂
As a Baptist, commenting on an Orthodox video, we can all appreciate that John the Baptist was "fully immersed" in his divine calling

Thank you again. You have brought to the fore John, who is often glossed over in many churches. I thought maybe a Christmas tea...

I hope it's ok to tell your subscribers about the book I read about John thee baptised. The author was Charles Kroll, and it's a fantastic read. 🙏
thank you!

Dang my name is Jordan and my birthday is June 24 maybe I just found my patron saint
I think he just found you
Okay, honestly, I'm confused. They're first cousins, not second cousins. How would they be second cousins if their Mother's were sisters?
Elizabeth and Mary were cousins and they were the mothers.Zoia and Anna were sisters and they were the grandmothers
I enjoy your videos very much. But I'm just curious, what happened to Episode #107? Did I miss it ?
Whoops... looks like a misnumbering error! Well spotted!
Next episode will likely be #107 to correct things 😆
