@@RunThatRC Awesome stuff. I have been into RC for over 40 years and have had a huge selection of different rc's over the years. Currently I have around 25 cars mostly scale trucks. 3 Submarines and about 10 boats. Then there is 20 odd race drones a few Tricopters. I also have an N scale model railway. The addiction is real Haha!

The 12428 family are virtually indestructable,except for their electronics,having said that,mine are still working almost 2 years down the line. I have the basic 12428 though,you can improve it's performance greatly by just replacing the rear shocks with oil filled ones(100mm,even 1/10th scale ones will fit.)
If it holds up like the 10th scale version it will be a good basher.
the stock shocks just need seals put in them, done it here!
smaller pinion lets the stock ESC live a good long time, and the servo arm has a hole to move the rod up/closer... a little less wheel angle but lot more torque, less likely to fail too.

play with those stock shocks, cut the center tube from round servo grommets on a small screwdriver shaft gives you 2 seals to install. flat side to the shock body and good finger snug to the threaded bottom cap. 30wt to the rears, 80-90wt gear oil for the fronts... easy job, does wonders! edit: other stuff, JUST whipped up a worm gear drive unit to slap into the WPL/Newbright Jeep toy, all it needs now is the bottom gear cover and mount holes drilled.
Nice! I did do that to my fy06. It works ok but seepage was a problem. Work gear drive just like my kyosho rock force. No esc drag brake needed.

i got the 1/10 scale 10428. my tip are keep using the esc/servo until it brakes. when one fails. replace esc and receiver with standard 3wire servo. replace with oil filled shocks.
screw the cantilever style. mod the front suspension. on 12428 you dont need any new parts or cutting, compare to 10428 i needed to make a steel plate adapter. gives room for esc/receiver so you can have youre vtx far back, if youre into that.DONT lock the front diff. Keep spare driveshaft (Metal)

12428 spare parts? plenty and cheap! note spur they use mod 0.6 upgrade to p48 :)
10428, better look at twinhammer,k949 or wraith for parts.

Does it have oil filled shocks ?
No but all you need is M2 size o rings to install and some teflon tape and they can be oil filled.
